Carvel

Location: Port Washington, New York

“My kids are gluten-free, and we feel most comfortable doing the soft serve ice cream at Carvel. Their website is clearly marked and updated with safe options.”

Spoons Ice Cream & Cereal Bar

Location: Seaford, New York

“This ice cream is amazing. You can add any cereal or topping and it all gets mixed into the ice cream. Beware the wait can be around an hour. They do have nuts there, but they assured me that they would clean out the machine extra for me. When my ice cream was ready they said “allergy!” (Instead of what my order was). Even though it was super busy they took time to make sure to clean everything off to avoid cross-contamination!”

Sugar Crazy

Location: Plainview, New York

“Sugar Crazy is a candy, ice cream, and novelty store. They have a separate display of A la Mode ice cream which is nut, sesame and egg free. They also know which items are gluten-free and use new scoopers. They have a large section of nut free prepackaged desserts along with colorful, novelty Rice Krispie treats labeled nut free. There is also a dedicated nut-free blender for milkshakes. The staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable regarding allergies.”

16 Handles

Location: Jericho, New York

“My kids are gluten-free. 16 Handles is self-serve frozen yogurt with lots of flavor options that are clearly marked with any allergens. The staff is always willing to double-check ingredients. We have always been able to ask for toppings from the back to avoid cross-contamination.”
