Ice Cream Smuggler

Ice Cream Smuggler

Location: East Dennis, Massachusetts

“We were so happy to find that Ice Cream Smuggler had individually packaged nut-free, dairy-free, gluten-free David’s chocolate chip brownies. I can’t speak to their allergy practices for ice cream, since we always avoid due to the severity of our daughter’s allergy, but it was so nice to find a safe option for her to enjoy! The brownies are also delicious!”

Twin Acres Ice Cream Shoppe

Twin Acres Ice Cream Shoppe

“Great place for all allergies. Workers were educated, asked about severity, whether or not to use new bin, etc. Dedicated menu for vegan/dairy-free. Website also shows ingredients.”

Sweet Izzy

Sweet Izzy

Location: Harwich Port, Massachusetts

“This spot is amazing—completely gluten-free and dairy-free, and very aware of allergen protocol to safely eat here with a peanut allergy. (They have toppings set aside for people with allergies to avoid cross-contamination!) It’s all delicious, and they even have soft serve, which is so hard to replicate. The gluten-free waffle cones are the best, and the gluten-free cookie dough flavor is such a treat. Can’t recommend it enough! A perfect summer spot.”

Lewis Brothers Homemade Ice Cream

Lewis Brothers Homemade Ice Cream

Location: Provincetown, Massachusetts

“So happy that my tree nut allergic boy was able to have and enjoy ice cream today. Such a rarity when we’re vacationing. They opened up a new ice cream container and used a new scoop to serve him ice cream. Will definitely be going back.”

Ice Cream Cafe

Ice Cream Cafe

Location: Orleans, Massachusetts

“This ice cream place is one of the best I have ever been to regarding allergies. They have an entire allergy section depending on the specific allergy you have. My friend has a severe allergy to gluten, dairy, nuts, etc. He absolutely loves this place. The staff is so kind and caring with the amount of allergies my siblings and I have. They are very dedicated to making sure we are safe. Their soft serve is delicious as well, which makes everything a lot easier and better. We made sure of no cross-contamination with the soft serve, and they were very helpful with that order (especially as they are no stranger to food allergies—they have an entire allergy-free menu of them). Would highly recommend!”

Penguins Ice Cream Igloo

Flamingo’s Ice Cream and Bakery

Location: Hyannis, Massachusetts

“This place was awesome! In past years, we had stopped here and were disappointed to see they had no dairy-free options (I used to be allergic to dairy). However, we were so impressed to see the variety they had this year. They had dairy-free ice cream, Italian ices, and sorbet, which I decided to get because I still prefer it to “regular” ice cream. They had a very clear allergy protocol. They washed their hands and used a fresh, sanitized scoop and a fresh tub. They also had ingredients for all flavors, cones, etc., and were extremely nice and happy to help.”

“The scooper then switched gloves and got me a small container of sprinkles from the back. Not only was the ice cream insanely good, but I appreciated the extra steps they went to in order to make sure that my ice cream was celiac-safe! They also have soft serve.”

Cape Cod Creamery

Location: Hyannis, Massachusetts

“I have safely enjoyed ice cream here many times. The staff have a clear protocol where they use a clean scoop and will scoop out of a fresh pint out back. While the shop isn’t nut-free, I have always felt safe to enjoy ice cream here.”
