Wheat-Free Galapagos Top Picks

Hi! I’m Alex and I recently took a trip to the Galopagos including an 8-day National Geographic expedition aboard one of their small cruise ships! I am allergic to wheat and am happy to share that we found safe places to eat and the expedition protocols blew me away—all of which I’ve shared on the Spokin app and featured in this guide. One of the highlights was getting my own GF versions of dessert each night, like personal tiramisu or fried goat cheese stuffed figs! When on land, a fun thing to do if you are in Santa Cruz is go scuba diving or snorkeling with amazing sea life like manta rays, turtles and sea lions. “I went on the Nat Geo Lindblad Expedition to the Galapagos on the Gemini boat, and it absolutely exceeded any expectations I had around allergies! The staff was incredible, and a lead person was assigned to allergy management. Breakfast and lunch were buffet-style, so he ensured that all of my meals were prepared separately and safely in the back. Each day, he gave me the menus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner the following day to make selections, and they would have it ready when I arrived for the meals. They even prepared gluten-free versions of all the desserts for me. One day, they had tempura-fried goat cheese-stuffed figs, and I was sad when I saw them thinking I definitely wouldn’t be eating them, but then they made me my own gluten-free version separately. I was absolutely blown away by the service and care and it made the trip so much more enjoyable. Highly recommend the trip overall as it was spectacular, but even more for their handling of allergies. The Galapagos trip was so special being able to see so many amazing animals and islands up close, and Linblad has more top expeditions all over the world!”
