Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel Gothenburg
Location: Gothenburg, Sweden
“I didn’t dine here and only stayed here to sleep but the location was great and close to a lot of shops and restaurants. It’s located directly next to the central train station which was perfect for us as we took this train from Oslo to Gothenburg. The nearest hospital is about a 10-minute drive! I didn’t use any of the hotel’s shampoos or soaps, so I can’t speak to the ingredients in these items.”

Sjöbaren Fish Seafood
Location: Haga, Sweden
“This was a favorite restaurant on our 10 day trip and I definitely recommend to visit especially since it is located in Haga. We sat in the backyard which was quiet and intimate so if the restaurant is busy and you’d rather a quiet experience ask to sit in the back! The menu isn’t labeled but the waitress answered all of our questions. They brought out a bread and fish bread as soon as we sat down. After learning of my allergies the waitress brought out a separate cracker appetizer for me. I’m not sure if the fish spread was safe so I stayed away and just ate the crackers, which was made of corn. We ordered shrimp as an appetizer, fish soup, and salmon and made sure all were okay for my allergies so I could try everything. The soup came with bread on the side that I did not have. The soup was unreal! The salmon was so fresh and the mustard sauce it came with was amazing we jokingly wanted to take some home with us. Definitely dine here if you find yourself in Haga!”

Tvåkanten
Location: Lorensberg, Sweden
“This was one of our favorite meals on our 10 day trip and I would highly recommend stopping by here. I showed the waitress my allergy translation cards and she said the chef was aware of these allergies and works with them often that it would be fine. The menu was not labeled but she was able to talk us through the dishes to see if they were safe. We ordered Swedish meatballs, beef tartar, and an open-faced sandwich (on gluten-free bread). The meatballs were so good we talked about them every day after, LOL. The waitstaff made me feel extremely comfortable and the food was delicious.”

Amigos Bar & Restaurant
Location: Bergen, Norway
“I grabbed tacos here to go one night. There’s a famous hot dog stand not far from this location (not allergy-friendly!) and my husband wanted to try that for dinner so I decided to do take away so we could eat together outside. It was a simple and straightforward menu. Food was good, pricey for what I got but glad it was a quick and easy option. The menu was labeled which made for easier selections of what to have!”

The Hagelin Sisters
Location: Bergen, Norway
“Went here for a more traditional meal. The menu was labeled but there was a lot of gluten under each dish per the menu. When I asked the staff they said that was because each dish came with bread we were able to get that on the side to make it safe for me. We got a large plate with samples of each—we had cod, fish soup, fish cakes, salmon, and a mashed potato dish. I liked it! The staff confirmed there were also no nuts and she told the chef and they took extra precautions with our meal.”

Fjord Expedition AS, Bergen
Location: Bergen, Norway
“This was such a fun tour! We took a boat out and went fishing and whatever we caught that day we went back and learned how to fillet and cook the fish! We noted my allergies ahead of time and when we were getting ready to cook the staff asked who had allergies. They made my fish in a completely separate cast iron than everyone else’s (they were using flour for some of the fish). They did apologize because there was soup available as well (that wasn’t gluten-free) and the tour guide said it was his fault he forgot to mention it to the staff before they made the food. I think it was also partly my fault because we changed the day of our tour last minute based on the weather, so I wasn’t upset at all. They even had dessert for us—the famous waffles and brown cheese, sour cream, and jam. I thought I wouldn’t be able to have dessert but they had a gluten-free option for me and cooked it in a completely separate waffle maker! Highly recommend for a fun excursion in Bergen!”

Olivia Ole Bulls Plass
Location: Bergen, Norway
“The third Olivia location we stopped in! I was very impressed with each location and we had the best waitress here! She again explained the pizzas are cooked in a shared oven but have their own separate container. And said if I was extremely sensitive to stick to the pastas because they could make any of the pasta dishes gluten free. We felt comfortable with the protocols and again ordered a pizza and a beef appetizer. Food was again, delicious and I’d recommend!”

Egon – The Meat Bazaar
Location: Bergen, Norway
“Stopped here since they had a large menu with pretty much everything you could want and it was labeled. I read reviews how they had a separate gluten-free fryer for things but when I tried to order they informed me that there may be traces of gluten. I kept asking how and they just said “there could be”, so just keep that in mind even though they say they have a separate fryer and use your best judgement based on your comfort level. We split a chicken bowl and a chicken sandwich. I had a safe meal and the food was fine enough!”

Olivia Zachariasbryggen
Location: Bergen, Norway
“We loved Olivia in Oslo we decided to give this a try! We split the pizza and a salad. The pizza was made in a separate container but shared the same oven as the regular pizzas. Food again was so good and would recommend! Menu was labeled which made for easier selections of what to have!”

Lorry Restaurant
Location: Oslo, Norway
“Came here for dinner because my husband wanted the reindeer patties. We were able to sit outside and our waiter was so understanding of allergies. He immediately informed our chef and told us how seriously they take allergies at the restaurant. I ordered the fish soup and it came with gluten-free bread. He double checked with the chef and he said there were only seeds in the gluten-free bread option but how that always makes him nervous, but he asked the chef twice. I stayed away from the bread after that comment (because i get nervous too!) but the soup was delicious! Love when a restaurant “gets it”! The menu was labeled which made for easier selections of what to have!”

Haralds Vaffel
Location: Oslo, Norway
“This place was so good we went back twice in one day!! Gluten-free waffles with the traditional sour cream, brown cheese, and jam! I confirmed that they used a separate waffle maker and all of the extra ingredients they add on top were also gluten-free and nut-free. They did tell us it was a small kitchen so they can’t guarantee no cross contact since there was nuts and gluten present in the kitchen. I felt safe enough to dine there and had no reactions. The waffle was unbelievable! Highly recommend stopping by.”

Underbar
Location: Oslo, Norway
“Came here for drinks and was expecting just to have a water but they had gluten-free beer from a local brewery! I asked if it was completely gluten-free or gluten reduced and they confirmed it was gluten-free (less than 20 ppm). It was from Oslo Brewing Mellow—a gluten-free IPA. Not sure if it’s always on tap but it was a great surprise.”

Schouskjelleren Mikrobryggeri
Location: Oslo, Norway
“This is a fun brewery in Oslo. I was not expecting to be able to drink anything but there was a gluten-free beer on tap! I confirmed it was gluten-free, not gluten reduced (it was less than 20 ppm of gluten) and I was able to have a drink with my husband here! It was a really cute, intimate spot and I’d recommend for an after dinner nightcap!”

Olivia Østbanehallen
Location: Oslo, Norway
“Olivia is a chain but we actually dined here (various locations) three separate times during our trip to Norway because the food and staff were so fantastic! The waitress saw my allergy card and immediately told me to keep them out on the table so whoever was delivering food could see them. The atmosphere was insane—the place was gorgeous, and the food was amazing. Highly recommend checking them out! The menu was labeled which made for easier selections of what to have!”

Der Peppern Gror Rådhusplassen
Location: Oslo, Norway
“This was my first time ever having safe Indian food out at a restaurant! The menu was labeled, there were nuts in the kitchen but the staff informed the chef of my allergies and they took extra precautions. The food was delicious! The menu was labeled which made for easier selections of what to have!”
