CONNECTICUT

Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen Foxwoods

“My son was able to get an intricate meal off the menu, rather than us having to keep it simple and plain/boring to ensure no hidden allergens, because the staff has access to a book that clearly labels which allergens are in each menu item, including what it ‘may contain’! My son ate his whole chicken dish with frizzled artichoke and fennel and kale and potatoes with a delicious sauce. My son was even able to have a dessert (coconut sorbet) which is a rarity at a restaurant! So grateful for their approach to food allergies. Bonus, everything we got was delicious.”

ILLINOIS

Maggiano’s Little Italy

Location: Chicago, Illinois

“There used to be a location in Northern Ohio and I cried when they closed. I always had my birthday dinners here because I always knew I was going to be served quality food by an amazing waitstaff. When I told the waiter that I had allergies, they brought a chef out to talk about my options (I decided to grill my chicken parmesan instead of frying because of the oil). They assured me that proper protocol would be followed and even gave me a free creme brûlée (the only dessert I could eat). 10/10 recommend.”

Spears Chicago

“This restaurant has a ginormous cotton candy dessert…a super fun treat for my milk, egg, nut allergy kiddo to have dessert at a restaurant. And the best thing of all—their chocolate milk shake was safe for him! This was the first time he’s been able to have a milkshake at a restaurant and not made by Mom! He was SO excited. It’s the little things right?!”

Shaya Restaurant

Location: New Orleans, Louisiana

“A friend of ours recommended this restaurant for our trip to New Orleans, and we had such a great experience here! The food we had at Shaya was one of our favorite meals from the entire trip. We ordered the fried chicken hummus (my personal favorite!) mint tea, the halloumi, some of their dips (baba ganoush, moussaka, labneh), and the ghazel banat for dessert. I am allergic to soy and reached out to the resturant about my food allergy via email, and then they emailed me back a marked up pdf version of their menu highlighting what I could and couldn’t order. The server also asked us about any allergies or dietary restrictions right as we sat down. There were many soy-free options, and the food was delicious! Their pita has soy, so they were able to bring out a bowl of sliced cucumbers for an additional charge. I highly recommend eating here!”

@jenniferkrol, who manages a soy and chocolate allergy

MICHIGAN

London Chop House

This is by far my favorite breakfast spot in Omaha.”

NEVADA

Tom Colicchio’s Craftsteak

Location: Las Vegas, Nevada

“This was our first time here and I cannot say enough good things about it. Our server, Brianne, was amazing and knew the ingredients in every dish. She told me there is gluten in only two menu items, dairy in three. Each course is prepped in its own space and each fryer is used for one item only. Allergy foods are tagged all the way thru but she went to the kitchen to speak to them to make ensure they knew about my dishes. The food was phenomenal. I couldn’t decide between two salads so she bought me two small plates of each. She made sure all sides ordered were allergy-free in case I wanted to try them. They even have house made sorbet so i could have dessert. If in Vegas, I highly recommend.”

NEW JERSEY

El Gallo Mexican Cuisine

Location: Hawthorne, New Jersey

“Delicious food and caring staff! I told our waitress about my nut allergies and was assured everything I ordered was fine for me. When it came time for dessert, I believe the churros we ordered came with Nutella and Dulce de Leche sauces on the side but we asked for just the Dulce de Leche and got them to go. They were so good! I’d recommend the chips and salsa and the churros! I’d go back just for those alone.”

Riverpark

Location: New York, New York

“This was our second trip to a crafted hospitality restaurant this summer. Not only was this restaurant beautiful with an outdoor patio overlooking the east river, the food was great and the staff was not only knowledgeable, but very kind as well. they ask if what you avoid is an allergy or preference because they have separate pans, utensils, etc for food allergies and take every precaution to avoid cross-contamination. I am gluten free, grain free, dairy free, and soy free (including legume), I avoid legumes bc of the soy issue and I don’t eat red meat. Our lovely server asked the chef what I could eat and I had a choice of at least 4 appetizers, either off the menu or slightly modified (the watermelon carpaccio was amazing…so flavorful), same number of mains and I was able to eat dessert (sorbet). I highly recommend.”

PENNSYLVANIA

Mandy’s Pizza

Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

“This was our first time visiting a restaurant that advertises being ‘allergy-friendly’ on its menu! It didn’t disappoint. Lots of vegan and gluten-free options. Allergy accommodations are routine here so it was nice to feel at ease while we dined. To top it off, they offer allergen free (top 8) donuts, cookies and brownies. We couldn’t resist trying the cinnamon sugar donuts, since those are never an option for my son unless it’s homemade. They are frozen so we were told to let defrost beforehand, which took about the car ride home. Kids gave them the thumbs up and I can vouch they taste delicious with coffee.”

@clatshaw, who manages peanut, tree nut, egg, soy, and legume allergies

V&V Scratch Kitchen

Location: Finleyville, Pennsylvania

“Definitely a hidden gem! This cute neighborhood restaurant has incredible food, a unique menu and delicious dessert. Best of all, my egg, soy and nut-free toddler could eat the pizza and have a scoop of ice cream for dessert. And did you know, every kids meal comes with a cookie or scoop of cream?! Can’t get much better than that! Plus I love any place that has roasted Brussels sprouts on pizza. We will be back!”

They were absolutely amazing and exceeded every expectation!! I will definitely be back.”

Piazza Scammacca

Location: Catania, Italy

“This place is unlike any other. Inside you will find several different kitchens catering to different menu styles. Several offer allergen friendly (gluten, nut and dairy) options. One kitchen is strictly gluten-free. We were able to enjoy a traditional Sicilian appetizer of mixed fried fish. It has a rice flour based tempura and fried in olive oil. We have visited here several times now since finding this gem. I almost forgot the best part! All desserts are gluten-free. Some desserts are dairy and/or nut free!”
