ARIZONA

Intentional Foods

Location: Mesa, Arizona

“This restaurant is a dedicated TOP 8 FREE restaurant located in Mesa, Arizona. It is run by a couple who has a daughter with life threatening peanut and tree nut allergies. They understand that it is a place where families and friends can eat together and everyone is included! They have breakfast, lunch, dinner, and DESSERT options! Some of my favorite desserts are apple and churro donuts and snickerdoodle cupcakes! My favorite items on the menu are the Hacienda Hash Bowl and the Mediterranean bowl. Mama Lisa’s Spaghetti and Meatballs are also a hit! They also have a market full of their favorite top 8 free snacks and goodies. Check them out, you’ll be in for a treat!”

“The absolute best!! Chicken and waffles are bomb! I’ve never had a bad meal or dessert there. I only wished they moved to the east coast when I moved.”

Roka Akor – Scottsdale

Location: Scottsdale, Arizona

“This is one of our absolute favorite restaurants. On top of having outstanding food with the most amazing ingredients, they also have limited nuts on the menu. Only a couple main menu items contain nuts, both of which can be modified to omit them completely. The desserts are the same, and they are super comfortable dealing with nut allergies. Impeccable service and protocol surrounding allergies!”

CALIFORNIA

Ardi’s Organics

Location: Los Angeles, California

“A great healthy alternative located in the food court of the Westfield Century City Mall. They make all their buns, and also offer gluten-free buns. The desserts are nut-free, and sandwiches are nut-free also. Just avoid the ranch, which is made with cashews. The owner is kind and answered all our questions.”

Benny’s Tacos & Rotisserie Chicken in Westchester

Location: Los Angeles, California

“My absolute favorite taco and burrito place. They do discounts for LMU students!! California burrito is the best (fries inside), and I don’t think they have any nuts in the whole place. I can even have their cream filled churros! Let them know about your allergies, and they’ll take care of you. Delicious and affordable for college kids!”

Blue Star Lounge

Location: Palm Desert, California

“We came here for dessert. It shares a kitchen with the Rock Wood Grill. The server wasn’t knowledgeable about whether our order contained nuts or sesame. BUT, he was willing to go to the kitchen to ask – and he did! He went to the kitchen to get the answer to our question and then came back to us with the answer. That helped reassure us. We had the baked Alaska and the chocolate sensation. The chocolate sensation comes in this white chocolate shell and they drizzle hot chocolate syrup on it so that the shell melts to reveal more yummy goodness!!”

Camino Alto

Location: San Francisco, California

“This is a must-visit restaurant if you’re visiting San Francisco! It’s in the Cow Hollow area, and the concept is that the chef changes the menu every day based on ingredients that are in season and available at local farmer’s markets. The menu is always 100% gluten-free! They have usually 1-2 dishes with tree nuts (never peanuts) like hazelnuts and almonds, but our waiter was phenomenal in giving all the ingredients in each dish, checking that their pesto was nut-free (it’s made with pumpkin seeds), being super understanding of my questions, and taking my allergies very seriously! We had two amazing fruit aperitifs, the Japanese sweet potato appetizer (literally so good), and shared the pork belly and zucchini salad entrees. Everything was delicious! All their desserts are also nut-free! We finished the night with this fabulous chocolate pot de crème with homemade whipped cream. You HAVE to visit here if you’re taking a trip to San Francisco!”

Catch LA

“I got a delicious sushi roll here, and my friends and I shared one of the chocolate cake desserts. For the sushi, I told them about my sesame allergy, and they were able to make sure they made it completely safe. They said the dessert we got was nut-free as well.”

Crust Pizzeria

Location: Carlsbad, California

“Crust is our #1 favorite family restaurant. We eat there regularly with our peanut and tree nut allergic son, who usually gets the spaghetti and meatballs or meatball sub. The pizzas have also been safe for him, and he always gets a Caesar salad. Bonus–the ‘road rash’ dessert (like a large fried donut) is also safe! The staff is so friendly, so knowledgeable about the allergens and confirms each time we go. Wonderful family restaurant.”

“I had an amazing experience here! The staff printed a personalized menu for me to show me everything that I could eat. I was able to order a specialty drink, appetizer, main dish, and dessert despite a long list of allergies. The waitstaff was incredibly accommodating and did not make me feel like I was causing any inconvenience. I HIGHLY recommend coming here, even if it is out of the way! Amazing experience.”

“Wonderful hole-in-the-wall vegan Mexican restaurant in Monterey! Had delicious chips and guac as an appetizer, a huge dinner, and even safe ice cream for dessert! One of the only ‘authentic’ feeling restaurants I’ve ever eaten at. Completely vegan and very few nuts. Went back multiple times while on vacation!”

Esin Restaurant & Bar

Location: Danville, California

“We recently ate here and had a wonderful time. They make almost everything in-house, including the breads and desserts. So they knew exactly what the ingredients were for everything. It is rare that my son will eat all the dishes on the table because usually there are one to two dishes we order that may not be safe for him. He ate his dish and everyone else’s, plus bread and desserts. He could not look up from the table to tell the host and server the food was good. Haha. We had a bunch of small plates and split entrees. Burrata, French onion soup, pear flatbread, shrimp & scallops, pot roast, chocolate raspberry cake, mango sorbet, and bread.”

Horsefeather

Location: San Francisco, California

“Had an amazing Valentine’s Day dinner here and will definitely be back! We didn’t know when booking the reservation but showed up and were told it is a 100% nut-free kitchen!! The whole menu is labeled with gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian symbols, and most of the menu can be adjusted to accommodate other allergies. We got the roasted broccoli, gluten-free chicken wings, beef roast with polenta, and finished with the pineapple mochi cake (gluten-free)! Everything was amazing!! There were so many gluten-free options, and I felt super safe enjoying anything on the menu. Such a find—highly recommend for anyone looking for a great meal in San Francisco!”

Koi Palace

Location: Daly City, California

“Long-time and loyal customers. We have safely eaten here millions of times and love their dim sum options, as well as their dinners. I really like their durian puffs (lunch dessert) and their bean sprouts, whisk steamed fish, sweet and sour anything!, coffee ribs, and soy sauce chicken, which comes with really delicious sweet soybeans underneath. Great safe Cantonese spot.”

@nutfreefun, who manages peanut and tree nut allergies

Monster Phở

Location: Oakland, California

“Fantastic peanut-free authentic Vietnamese food! Our children finally got to try pho and the broth was delicious and flavorful. We had a large party of 10 and the waitstaff were attentive and very knowledgeable of their menu items. We ordered beef pho, pho ga, the chicken rice platter as well as the fried tofu, fresh shrimp rolls, chicken wings and potstickers. All were authentically prepared and served with a side of dô chua (pickled carrot and diakon) as well as their dipping sauces. All beautifully plated and freshly prepared. The desserts were great: we tried the coffee flan, the deep fried banana and ice cream but the ultimate standout was the pandan waffle with ice cream! You can truly taste the wonderful fragrant pandan flavor!”

Nobu Los Angeles

Location: Los Angeles, California

“The best food allergy dining experience ever! Nobu’s food is unreal- absolutely perfect…but what was truly amazing was the waiters knowledge of every ingredient in the food! Nuts were a no brainer for them, but when I mentioned mustard, the waiter immediately knew that a few menu items contained mustard. We told him what we wanted, and he was confident nothing that we were considering had any allergens in it. Also, when the food came to the table from another server, they also mentioned that all of our food was free from our list of allergens. The dessert was made fresh and was safe for us. Great experience from start to finish!”

Oceana Coastal Kitchen

Location: San Diego, California

“This restaurant far exceeded my expectations and was such a great allergy find! There are no peanuts on the menu, and the only nut in the kitchen is almonds! The menu is clearly labeled with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free symbols, so it was very easy to order a safe gluten-free meal! The waiter confirmed with the chef about my allergies and then came back to let me know everything was safe! I had the braised short ribs with polenta, and it was one of the best meals I’ve had! I was also safely able to have the creme brûlée! All the desserts are made in house, and there were no nuts on the menu (except almonds in one biscotti that was a topping on one dessert!) Highly recommend if you are in San Diego!”

Oceans & Earth Restaurant

Location: Yorba Linda, California

“This is a 100% dedicated gluten-free restaurant! When I inquired about my nut allergies, the chef told me they don’t use any peanuts or tree nuts in the kitchen! I was a little hesitant at first (I have never come across a restaurant free of gluten AND nuts), but our waitress was so kind and answered all my allergy questions! Everything on the menu is baked/made from scratch in house: the gluten-free brioche buns, pizza crusts, cookies, and desserts, so there is no chance of cross-contact with nuts! They even make their own ice cream! I was able to safely have any dessert on the menu, which has never happened before at a restaurant! Aside from allergies, the food is SO GOOD! Highly recommend trying the mac and cheese, the brioche bun burgers, and the berry cobbler with vanilla ice cream! After dessert, our waitress also brought us a little plate with freshly baked chocolate chip cookies!”

Ruth’s Chris Steak House

Location: Palm Desert, California

“I was happy with my experience here as I was able to eat delicious food safely. The waitress was ok in her approach to my food allergies. She wrote down my allergens and advised she checked with the kitchen staff to make sure I was able to eat the items I was planning on ordering. If you eat here, make sure to be adamant that these are ALLERGIES and it’s not just a matter of, “getting sick,” as I did feel as though the waitress was not very educated on allergies in general and possible reactions. However, I appreciated the waitress’ proactiveness and that she went back to the kitchen to make sure I could eat safely. I got the 11oz filet mignon (medium rare) with mashed potatoes. I also was able to get the flourless chocolate sin cake and oh my word…absolutely delicious! FYI, their steaks are not heavily seasoned—they use some salt and pepper and then add real butter. That is what we were told by our waitress.”

@smuldowney, who manages peanut, tree nut, soy, grain, sesame, vegetable, fruit, and legume allergies

State Bird Provisions

Location: San Francisco, California

“Had a fabulous and safe meal here! This is a well-known restaurant in San Francisco with amazing dishes. We had a big group and did the prefixed menu. When we were seated our waiter checked with everyone to confirm allergies (we also emailed in advance so they prepared things ahead of time). As we went through the courses, the waiter brought me some of my own dishes and also let me know what dishes that were brought for the whole table were safe for me. I will say because there were a lot of people it felt a little overwhelming communicating with our waiter, and one dish gave me a bit of anxiety that I needed to double check (the sauce ended up being guajillo chile paste which looks and tastes nutty). One of the main dishes had a lot cashews but I was brought a cashew-free bowl. I ate safely and loved the tahini cucumber and pork belly entrees! They also brought me a safe dessert and a specially made gluten-free state bird!”

Waiter was educated and happy to check with kitchen. We will be back!”

The Good Plow

Location: Carpinteria, California

“Now that both kids are back in school, my husband and I enjoyed a lunch date @thegoodplow – I found out that their fryer is dedicated gluten-free! When asking questions about the fried cauliflower tacos, I found out that the corn tortillas are warmed on the same surface as the bread and they do not have a pan that they can warm them in instead. We ended up sharing the Buddha Bowl, Kale Caesar, and Crispy Brussels. My favorite item was the Brussels, which were prepared with a balsamic maple reduction and topped with dates and green onions. I also enjoyed the Buddha Bowl but could have added fried tofu to make it more filling. For dessert, I had soft-serve froyo. The cones are not gluten-free, but it was great in a cup! I did not find out how nut and sesame-free friendly they were since my daughter wasn’t with me. However, they have items with peanuts and tahini on the menu.”

The Waterfront Restaurant

Location: San Francisco, California

“We come here every holiday season. Sitting on the patio with the holiday decorations all around and the bay lights in the background can’t be beat for dinner time. During prior visits, my son wasn’t able to have the fried items. But it seems this visit he was able to enjoy. I asked if there was cross contamination in the fryer with nuts or sesame and they said no. They checked his whole order and it was safe. So he had fried calamari, French fries, sautéed broccolini, and pasta with butter and cheese. He also had the mixed seafood grill. He ended with crème brûlée—which was the only safe dessert if I recall correctly. He didn’t order all this to eat on his own. We all shared.”

“They offer everything from gluten-free pasta, burgers (gluten-free buns included), chicken, seafood, beef, salads, and some amazing desserts. The S’more Budino (without the graham crumbs) is a great reason alone to make a visit there. Imagine this — caramel custard layered with Valrhona chocolate mousse and toasted marshmallow. The last time I was there, I had their Thai Lettuce Wraps and Ellie’s Chicken Piccata, which were also fantastic. I’ve had salads and other offerings on previous visits and have never been disappointed (or gotten sick). They also have wine pairings suggested with each menu item.”

Chef Mickey’s

Location: Orlando, Florida

“This is my go-to brunch character dining in Walt Disney World on Magic Kingdom or Epcot days! Make sure you request to speak to a chef if you have multiple food allergies. They do use Bob Red Mill products for their allergy waffles, but if requested, will use Namaste. Their focaccia bread is also dairy-free and nut-free and is out of this world! The best part though is the allergy-friendly cupcake (top 8 free) that they offer. You have to request them, but they come complete with Enjoy Life chocolate brownie cookie ‘ears’, Mickey sprinkles, and pixie dust.”

Chroma Modern Bar + Kitchen

“Chroma is a tapas restaurant in Orlando, only about 20 minutes from Disney World. I had an amazing experience here. The manager came out to speak with me as per protocol (I did not need to request for him to) and safely, confidently made me everything, even dessert! He even checked one of the dessert ingredients with me to be extra safe. I found everyone from the waitresses to the manager to be extremely knowledgeable about cross-contamination. The staff is knowledgeable about food allergies and communicate directly with the chef to ensure the modifications. They also made fresh cotton candy for her for dessert!”

Epic Eats

Location: Orlando, Florida

“This is located in Hollywood Studios next to Indiana Jones. They sell funnel cakes and soft serve ice cream. My daughter safely got the cutest dessert: it was a funnel cake topped with soft serve ice cream, an Oreo topping and two Oreos to make it look like Mickey ears. The staff showed my husband the allergy binder, and there were no nuts in anything at the stand. It was absolutely delicious, and my daughter couldn’t believe such an over-the-top dessert was safe for her — she kept asking me if I was SURE it was safe. This was such a moment of Disney magic for my daughter!”

“We have been to Millie’s many times and always bring guests. The waitress checked with the chef to verify she could have the food she ordered. The chef personally delivered the appetizer and let my daughter know he was aware of the allergies and hoped she wouldn’t worry. That additional kindness and reassurance will be remembered. I wanted my daughter to taste my meal and asked the waitress if it would, too, be safe. She remembered the allergens and checked quickly again. She was even able to share dessert. Lovely, stress-free evening.”

Surfing Deer

Location: Santa Rosa Beach, Florida

“We were greeted upon arrival and the hostess reconfirmed the allergies I provided when making our reservation. Our waiter asked about the allergies right away and was happy to check with the kitchen. Our two girls (one dairy, one egg+tree nut) were able to have the grilled chicken tenders, fries and fruit. The bread they brought out to start the meal was also safe. There was a vegan (also nut free) dessert we could have gotten but we were too full from our meal. This felt like a special place (fancier but still kid friendly) and we felt well taken care of… we will be back.”

GEORGIA

Aqua Terra Bistro

Location: Buford, Georgia

“Using their allergen information guide, I had a safe dining experience here! I’m not sure what it’s called, but I started with a tomato dip that bread is normally dipped in. They offered cucumbers which I thought was great! I also brought my own bread (thanks Schar!) and it was so good. For my main entree, I got blackened chicken with roasted asparagus. And for dessert, I had a mango lime granita! It was so good. It reminded me of something Disney World would give me for dessert.”

Lava Lava Beach Club

“This restaurant is such a gem. It’s located on the beach and the views are gorgeous. We love that this restaurant is about a 10 min walk from the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort (which is the hotel we stay at during our stay in Hawaii). The walk to this restaurant is always beautiful and enjoyable. This restaurant is our go-to dessert place. We always order the yummy and refreshing sorbet for my daughter. Even though safe food options are limited at this restaurant we still enjoyed dining here because of the experience. The view is amazing and my littles ones would enjoy the beach while waiting for our dessert to come out since this restaurant allows you to wear your swimsuit. It’s a must to check out this restaurant.”

We had two children and one adult with food allergies (milk) (egg+tree nut) (shellfish) in our party of 9. Our waitress immediately started writing out a list of appropriate appetizers and entrees for the kids to choose from and she knew exactly which dishes could be adjusted to be safe. They prepared everything we asked for, the way we asked for it and they were extremely cautious and communicative. Bonus points for a vegan dessert option which my daughter loved! Top notch service and delicious food, this restaurant is nice for a special occasion but still very family friendly.”

Andros Taverna

Location: Chicago, Illinois

“Wow!! We had wanted to go her for a while and it was hard to get a reservation but we came on a Sunday and OMG it lived up to the hype! We were celebrating our daughter’s college decision and ordered like half the menu. First it’s 100% peanut free and second there are some tree nuts but mainly I saw pistachios (which my daughter is VERY allergic to) but our server was very confident and nice and said they have customers with food allergies all the time. Our server brought us dessert because we were celebrating which always makes me panic but it was perfect, a frozen Greek yogurt with honey- I saw someone else eating something similar that looked like it had something crunchy on it so if it was nuts, very impressed and appreciative we didn’t get with nuts. HIGHLY recommend and can’t wait to go back and sit outside.”

“Very impressed! We ordered here for the first time for pickup and loved that we could talk to someone live. They were so knowledgeable and even asked if my daughter was allergic to all tree nuts! They were able to tell me if anything we wanted had nuts and made sure the “no nuts” would apply to the entire order. I heard the chef has a wife with Celiac and he created gluten-free focaccia which I never heard of!! They use that to make gluten-free pizza on the focaccia and it was amazing! We also had a salad, grilled broccoli and butterscotch pudding for dessert. I could also see the words tree nut allergy on the receipt next to each item. Everything was great and they have a super cute outside right off a great shopping street in Chicago! Definitely recommend!”

Limited tree nuts on the menu but they made note of all our allergies and the staff was so nice and patient and answered all of our questions. The absolute best part is they have an Oatly machine! My girls were able to have soft serve cones for the first time. Safe dinner and dessert in one spot is so rare for our family— such a win. “Wow. I’m blown away at our experience at this restaurant. We made a reservation for my husband’s birthday and while my daughter was home from college and I forgot that when we ate here (it was their original location) that our daughter wasn’t with us. I checked the menu online and saw a number of dishes with peanuts. I called ahead to ask if they could accommodate a nut allergy and they immediately said yes and ever shared several ways the isolate preparation of nuts. The menu in the restaurant did have a big N for any dishes with nuts which I rarely see and our server was fantastic! We ordered several small and large plates. “I feel incredibly safe eating here! They make many of their desserts in house (and understand how to avoid cross-contamination), so I have been able to safely eat their triple layer fudge chocolate cake for years! The kitchen is trained on proper preparation to avoid cross contamination. The wait staff is very thorough and will review every ingredient in your order (including sauces and dressings) and check with the kitchen. For example, I am allergic to beans, and before placing the order they almost always come back to my table to confirm and clarify that I can have soybeans (confirm it is soy and not a bean)—the waitstaff is not afraid to ask clarifying questions regarding allergies which always make me feel more comfortable, knowing how thorough and careful they are being!”

“I had THE most amazing experience here tonight. Initially I felt a little stressed out by the menu because it lists each dish with very little detail. I gave him my allergies and he came back a few minutes later after talking with the chefs and basically went through each menu option and told me how they could make it safe for me. I got the Branzino and we got the grilled mushrooms, rosemary potatoes and the garlic broccoli for the table. Everything I had was delicious. Best part? “Nice restaurant with very nice staffs, they do have options but some were no go because of the shared fryer. The food is more on the fancy side, and my kids did have options, but they say it’s just okay. Surprised that they offer a safe dessert of crème brûlée. It is made with coconut. I love it, but my kids don’t like the taste.”

“We were SO pleasantly surprised by our experience at the Stable Cafe after our tour of the Biltmore. After notifying the staff of my allergy, they did a wonderful job accommodating!! I had a plain hamburger cooked on a clean area of the grill with onions, lettuce, pickles, and chips on the side!! They did have Udi’s gluten-free buns on hand and our server was so kind to bring out the ingredients, but I went without due to the buns containing egg. I also had a wonderful dairy/nut-free vegan sorbet for dessert! The service was wonderful and the atmosphere was as well! She told me the options I chose should be okay and then she came back and let me know both would be fine with no cross-contamination risk! I ended up getting the atlantic salmon that was on some rice and some veggies on the side. It was super yummy! I was even able to have dessert too! “This was a magical treat of a find! I called ahead to check on whether they accommodated our allergies, and they said they had several gluten-free and vegan options and the only ‘nuts’ I think they said they have are pine nuts (which my son isn’t allergic to). Amazing menu and service–so welcoming! My son ordered the tacos for lunch, and we had gluten-free and vegan ‘donut holes’ for dessert, but there was at least one other apple crisp with oat ice cream option (and I think others). Fun drink menu for kids and adults, and you get to play games for free while you are at the table and then you get a 15% discount if you want to purchase the game. WOW.”

Zach’s Bistro

“Plan your Oregon coast trip around a reservation at Zach’s Bistro. The chef plans out the menu himself each week, and is explicitly welcoming of dietary needs. The food was delicious. We especially enjoyed the lamb riblets with a ginger turmeric honey soy glaze. We also had the crab cake and the lamb hash. The prickly pear sorbet for dessert was soft, sweet, and a toddler favorite. The chef even proactively obtained bread from a top 9-free bakery so we could enjoy a bite while waiting for our first course. We visited this restaurant with our food-allergic toddler, with restrictions on dairy, egg, peanut, sesame, coconut, cashew, and pistachio at the time of our visit.”

“I may be biased because I was hungry, but this was arguably the best pizza I have ever had! No nuts in the entire restaurant! But they told me to still tell the waiter my nut allergy, so they could write it down and alert the kitchen to change gloves. I got the gluten-free Providence Community flatbread, which came with mozzarella, caramelized onions, and mushrooms and was SO GOOD! All gluten-free pizzas are cooked in and come to the table in a foil ‘pie dish’ to prevent any cross-contamination. They also have vegan cheese! VIRGINIA

Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ

Location: Arlington, Virginia

“This is one of my favorite restaurants! I love the food they serve, and the feeling of being able to control how your food is cooked. For those who don’t know, Guy-Kaku is a yakiniku (roughly translated as ‘cooked meat’) Japanese restaurant that serves you marinated raw meat and vegetables which you cook yourself on a grill that is built into the table. It is surprisingly easy to cook the food, and it’s so delicious! We always get the yakishabu, as well as the fried pork gyoza (dumplings), fried bacon pieces, spicy addicting cucumber (for those who can tolerate spice) and edamame. They also have amazing garlic fried rice. If we’re ever hungry enough to eat dessert (which we almost never are, the food is so good I never want to stop eating it), the mochi ice cream is amazing, particularly the passion fruit flavor. For the allergy side of things, you always know what you’re getting and there’s no surprises. I’m not entirely sure if they fry in peanut oil (as I’m not allergic to that), but I’ve never had a problem with any of their food.”

I sampled some of their gluten-free beer (loved the cranberry one!) and also split their fish and chips and bacon mac and cheese with my boyfriend! The fried fish is amazing here! They have a wide variety of lunch and dinner options, including tacos, burgers, appetizers, and fried food, and everything looked delicious! All of their desserts are also nut-free! “Awesome tapas restaurant! I messaged them on social media and they connected with the chef who was on top of it saying there are no peanuts/peanut oil on site. They mentioned that they do have walnuts/almonds that may have cross-contact with peanuts at processing facilities, but that’s it. Very aware and knowledgeable! When we arrived they asked if anyone had allergies and talked directly to me to make sure nothing they brought contained my allergens (nuts/other legumes). Food was amazing and can’t wait to go back! My daughter had kombucha. And we had an absurdly good cinnamon cookie for dessert – I made my daughter go back and buy more, we could no longer share haha. “We had a fantastic meal here! I had heard about it so many times that I was afraid it would be too touristy but it was perfect on all accounts and I would highly recommend. It feels very much like a French bistro and the energy is so fun. We never saw peanuts on the menu and only a few tree nuts. We came here the night before we dropped my daughter off at college so ordered a lot – they were very helpful with making sure there were not nuts in what we ordered. I felt they were appropriately cautious. There is a big stand right when you walk in with loaves of bread being sliced for the bread baskets that they bring to the table and one kind did contain walnuts. My daughter is no longer allergic to walnuts, but we asked for ours without. For appetizers we ordered shrimp, oysters and a mushroom tart. My daughter and I split steak frites. For dessert, we had vanilla crème brûlée and chocolate pot de crème which had some small chocolate candy balls that they put on the side just in case we weren’t comfortable. Overall such a fun night and highly recommend.”

Ristorante Pappagallo

Location: West Bay, Cayman Islands

“Our waiter was lovely and checked on all food for our daughter with a peanut allergy. She safely shared the gnocchi starter, kids chicken tenders and fries (better than the Ritz, she said!), and lemon sorbet for dessert. We never do dessert out, but he explained that they made all the sorbets in house and there was no worries of cross-contamination. She loved it. Highly recommend.”

FRANCE

Jardin du Palais Royal

Location: Paris, France

“This was my favorite restaurant in France! I called ahead of time to let them know about my allergies, and once I got there they brought out special options for me so I didn’t have to miss out on any appetizers or desserts on the fixed menu! The staff made sure to bring out alternatives for me that were extremely similar to the original dish itself! It was such a good, filling meal!”

Le Consulat Restaurant

Location: Paris, France

“French fries are fried in sunflower oil. Waitstaff were attentive to our cross-contamination concerns, limited nuts on menu. My tree nut allergic daughter ate the steak for kids (hamburger patty) and fries and enjoyed a creme brûlée for dessert (made on premise).”

Le Montebello

Location: Paris, France

“I have a severe allergy to peanuts and tree nuts, and this place was excellent in assuring me they did not use nuts in any of the dishes I ordered. I even got to try escargot and nut-free pesto pasta, as well as dessert. They were very helpful and reassured me and my worries.”

Le Potager de Charlotte

Location: Paris, France

“My son was able to eat a 3-course meal from this restaurant. He started off with the grilled romaine lettuce, then had the seasonal salad with fruit for his main, and finished with the chocolate mousse (without the pecans.) They had a menu in English on their website that includes allergen information. Initially, he had ordered the almond and rice pancake for dessert, however upon review with the chef, there was apparently peanut in the flour (which wasn’t listed on the menu.) We had Equal Eats cards translated in French, which helped a lot, even though the staff spoke English. My son felt safe eating here and even ordered a mocktail. I’m glad they caught the peanut issue with the dessert—just goes to show you can never fully trust the menu, it’s always best to inform your server of all allergies and not assume you will be safe.“

GREECE

Migomis Piano Restaurant

Location: Agios Nikolaos, Greece

“Stunning restaurant in Crete has an unbelievable views and sits above a square of restaurants and stores that surround a lake – hard to describe but it’s so picturesque! It’s definitely on the fancy side as far as the menu goes, but it felt very special. My daughter had bread for start and then a burrata appetizer that came with almond skin but we asked for without, I don’t know why since my daughter isn’t allergic to almonds haha and tagliatelle with a beef ragu. She also had crème brûlée for dessert. Highly recommend!”

Petrino

Location: Megalochori, Greece

“We had lunch at this lovely restaurant located at the Amirandes hotel we were staying at. The waitress was VERY helpful and took the allergies very seriously. They even skipped the fryer for french fries and made delicious oven potatoes for us specifically. We were stuffed after lunch, HOWEVER, the waitress took it upon herself to find two desserts that were absolutely safe for my kids. She insisted we have them! Which was a real treat because we mainly skip dessert out of an abundance of caution.”

“Excellent Indian food. Our server was very helpful and made appetizers from scratch to ensure they were peanut and tree nut-free. We ordered the chicken tikka, hara bara kabab, potato and tomato curry with Jeera rice and butter naan for my son. He was also able to eat malai kulfi for dessert which, was delicious and nut-free! Will definitely visit again!”

StockHouse Restaurant

Location: Trim, Ireland

“This restaurant has a large menu and the staff was well aware of cross-contamination risks and said they don’t have any nuts to worry about. The kids got a burger and pasta and even had a brownie with ice cream for dessert. Def some cross-contamination risk, but that’s okay for us. I was pleased with how allergy aware the staff was.”

ITALY

Antico Martini

Location: Venezia, Italy

“We stumbled upon this place trying to go to another allergy-friendly restaurant. We came through the back door thinking it was closed. Thinking we were at that other restaurant, we gave our allergy cards to a server, and they said they could accommodate my son’s food allergies. We say down and then realized that we were not where we thought we were going to be. Turns out the two restaurants are next door to each other and share hallways. My son and I shared a plate of veggies, steak with black truffles, and a side of rice. The staff assured me everything would be safe for him. It was delicious! Then the kicker was that the desserts were safe for my son! We had been in Europe the last two weeks and desserts and been mostly a miss for him. The server walked through the dessert menu with my son and showed him what he could or could not order. My son ordered a fruit tart and was so happy!”

“Food was amazing. The ribs are fall off the bone tender. The oil they use is sunflower seed oil. Staff was nice and told me there are no nuts in the place. Dessert was even safe. The menu is online, and I did not see any allergen warnings. They speak decent English as well.”

“Ristorante Da Giorgio is an absolute must when you come to Capri! The food is delicious, authentic, and fresh with a fantastic open view of the entire island. They have gluten-free pasta and desserts available. No risk of cross-contamination, as they use separate cookware when alerted of a food allergy. Make sure to tell your waiter when you arrive! Overall wonderful local experience!”

La Buchetta Food & Wine Restaurant

Location: Florence, Italy

“We got this reservation last minute, and it was AMAZING. We did not expect to love it the way we did!! The waiters are amazing and spoke perfect English. They knew every ingredient in every dish and take great caution with allergies. When our waiter wasn’t positive, he would always ask the chef and come back to discuss with us. The angels and demon gnocchi and cheese wheel pasta are a MUST. If you love cheese, this is the place for you! Our waiter told us that on the cheesecake there was a biscoff cookie, and even though it didn’t say may contain nuts, he didn’t feel comfortable serving me something that wasn’t made in house. Instead, we got the apple pie and it was amazing! Such an amazing spot, and I highly recommend!!”

La Giostra

Location: Florence, Italy

“I went here almost once a week when I lived in Florence. At the time, I only managed a peanut, tree nut, and coconut allergy, but they were awesome. They even made a special appetizer plate for me, since the one they usually send out had nuts. Highly recommend the burrata and osso bucco. The chocolate cake was also safe, although was very fruity tasting.”

Le Botteghe Di Donatello Firenze

Location: Firenze, Italy

“This restaurant is right next to the Duomo and was one of our favorite meals in Florence during our whole trip! They are AIC-certified (gluten-free), and every dish is marked for allergens. There were no peanuts listed on the menu, and this was confirmed by the owner/chef (who was so nice!) The waiters were also very knowledgeable about food allergies and ingredients in dishes. The menu does note cross-contamination, as the dish containing that allergen (we were confused by a few nut-free, gluten-free dishes that were marked as containing tree nuts but checked in with the staff and were told which items were safe!) I had the gluten-free bruschetta (so good!) and a steak entree! They also had gluten-free pasta and pizza, and everything was listed on a separate gluten-free menu in the back of the main menu. This was the first place I was able to get dessert too! We split the berry panacotta and créme caramel (both no nuts and listed on the gluten-free menu). I had no allergy issues and loved our meal! Definitely recommend for gluten & nut allergies in Florence!”

Piazza Scammacca

Location: Catania, Italy

“This place is unlike any other. Inside you will find several different kitchens catering to different menu styles. Several offer allergen-friendly (gluten, nut and dairy) options. One kitchen is strictly gluten-free. We were able to enjoy a traditional Sicilian appetizer of mixed fried fish. It has a rice flour based tempura and fried in olive oil. We have visited here several times now since finding this gem. I almost forgot the best part! All desserts are gluten-free. Some desserts are dairy and/or nut-free!”

“I have been here twice now and the first time was a 10/10 experience. Everything very well labeled and nothing containing peanuts. Told the waiter anyways, and he said he would check with the kitchen. Came back and said I would be totally safe, even had the churros for dessert, which was a treat! AMAZING tacos. Kind of on the pricier side but very good food and drinks!”

Pizza e Cucina da Linda

Location: Montepulciano, Italy

“Great food and great service. The menu had an allergy list and listed the numbers next to items that have or may contain the allergen that related to the number. Menu was in both Italian and English. Staff spoke English fairly well and understood my allergy. Relayed the message to the chefs. Had a margarita pizza then when he offered dessert, he told me the tiramisu would be safe, but the cheesecake had cross-contamination. Enjoyed my experience here and will be back again.”

Yakuza by Olivier, Algarve

Location: Albufeira, Portugal

“This restaurant was one my favorites in all the places I visited in Portugal. The food was delicious, and the staff was very attentive in our allergies. We kept double checking because sushi does have a lot of seafood, nuts, and cross-contamination, so we had to be extra cautious. All of the rolls we ordered were nut-free, and they made sure of it. The only thing was that the dessert we ordered had nuts on the side when we specified to take the nuts out. Just be sure to always check the dish before eating. Overall, great food and helpful staff.”

SINGAPORE

Fu Hua Soya Bean

Location: Singapore

“This is a hawker center stall in Singapore that serves desserts made from soft soya bean curd (aka tofu!). It’s something I always like to have when I’m in Singapore because I can’t really find it anywhere else. I always order the set with sweet red bean, taro, mochi-like balls, tapioca pearls, and attap seeds. It’s topped with soy milk and a sweet syrup. Sometimes, I have this for breakfast too! It’s naturally vegan, gluten-free, and nut-free. There is a designated spoon for each topping, so I wasn’t too worried about cross-contamination.”

The Food Place by Food Junction

Location: Singapore, Singapore

“My family loves to get dessert in this food court in Raffles City because the window seats have a great view of Raffles Hotel and some other famous spots! Ice kacang is our favorite one to get—just without the sweet corn (contains dairy). Most of the Singaporean desserts like ice kacang, cendol, pulut hitam, etc. are gluten-free, nut-free, and vegan (only thing that wouldn’t be is the sweet corn topping on cendol and ice kacang). I definitely recommend trying some of the local treats!”

“I love cote! Been going since I was 17! They are always so attentive. I talk to the manager every time, they run through everything. The menu is all the food I love. Some dishes contain or may contain my allergens but they know their ingredients and the chefs take care. My meals come out first and I have a starter, main and dessert. (Sometimes two mains and bread). Every time I go here I feel safe and taken care of, plus the food is incredible, which choices!”

Dishoom Covent Garden

“While you wait to be seated masala chia is served which was really nice on a cold spring day in London. Very allergy friendly restaurant. The staff can customize dishes based on your needs. We started with the Murg tikka, house chaat and Dishoom chicken tikka. I believe they altered the recipe for my kids for the Murg tikka, since it can get a little spicy. For our main course, we ordered naan with chicken ruby and Maatar paneer. My son also had some basmati rice. For dessert, they enjoyed the kulfi. Would definitely go back again.”
