ALABAMA

The Current at Cahaba

Location: Birmingham, Alabama

“Food truck outside the brewery, with a limited menu. Staff knew all the ingredients to everything, helping me navigate the menu. No nuts in the kitchen as of 12/2024. I was able to have the chicken tenders and fries. I did not ask about the bread used for the buns or melt, but breading for tenders was house made and did not contain sesame!”

Arizona

Intentional Foods

Location: Mesa, Arizona

“My son had the chicken strips and fries here. We visited in August 2024 and drove all the way from Phoenix while visiting my aunt, so a little while ago and I don’t remember what I had, but my son very much enjoyed being able to pick from almost everything on the menu. He’s very predictable and only 5 at the time so he picked chicken and fries. Afterward he was able to eat a donut, something he’s never been able to eat before. The staff were lovely and patient with all my questions and we had a fantastic meal. Will definitely be visiting again in the future!

We eat here each trip without issues!”

COLORADO

Apres Burger Bistro

Location: Steamboat Springs, Colorado

“We traveled to Steamboat Springs, Colorado for the long weekend. While the majority of our meals were cooked at the house we stayed at, there were a few local spots that we tried. On the first night, we got takeout from Apres Burger Bistro. I confirmed that they had a dedicated gluten-free fryer for the fries and that they could make a burger for me with a gluten-free bun on a clean surface and with clean tools. I had the All-American burger with chicken (preference). My kiddo with nut and sesame allergies was able to enjoy their chicken tenders with fries.”

Outdoor dining space, high chairs, and lidded cups made it extra kid friendly!”

Cheers

Location: Boston, Massachusetts

“During our trip to Boston, we were excited to visit the original Cheers Bar. They had a full menu of various foods, including a lot of comfort/bar food. I was happy to see very few nuts on the menu (only 2 dishes with pesto). The waitress told us that it’s a peanut-free kitchen. If it’s peanut-free, meaning no peanuts present… or peanut free meaning no ingredients are made in a facility with peanuts, I don’t know, as we don’t have a peanut allergy and I didn’t want to add chaos to our multiple allergy order. My one daughter got grilled cheese and fries and spinach artichoke dip. The other had wings and chicken fingers. They also let us know that the chips were not made in house so they couldn’t guarantee the ingredients. I appreciated that, because the waitress told us proactively, before I asked.”

They answered questions about the menu and entered allergy orders separately and had them marked as ‘allergy orders’ for the kitchen when preparing the food. The restaurant has a helpful allergen guide on its website. Our allergy kids had the chicken tenders and fries and cheeseburger and fries and gave it ’12 stars.'”

I couldn’t have the flatbread pizzas as the dough said ‘may contain sesame’, but the chicken tenders and fries were safe. Also almost nut-free, only nuts on their menu were peanuts as a side (and they sell candy so peanut butter cups, etc.). Felt very safe here and had a great time!”

American Girl Cafe

Location: New York, New York

“I had the best experience with American Girl! They asked if anyone had allergies before even seating us, and the waitress was very knowledgeable about everything I was able to have. She told me that everything was nut-free (although she said they couldn’t guarantee cross-contamination from outside vendors) and that the only thing with sesame was the pretzel bun on the burger, but that they could substitute with a gluten free bun that was sesame free. I was able to have every course: the cinnamon buns, appetizers, and even the dessert! I got chicken tenders for my meal and they were amazing.
