Proposition Chicken
Location: Oakland, California
“I love a restaurant with a dedicated fryer, which Proposition Chicken has. Much of the menu can be made gluten-free, I’ll be honest, the chicken tenders were not my favorite (the breading was too thick for my taste), but the potato wedges were delicious. Still, this fits the criteria for a celiac-safe place to eat.”

Great Wolf Lodge

“The head chef was amazing! I wish I could remember his name because he remembered our daughter’s name and said hi to her every time we passed him in the lodge. He prepared a safe hamburger (no bun), hotdog (no bun) and grilled chicken strips along with French fries. All top 8-free, as they used rice oil for frying and designated fryers to avoid cross-contamination. Such a great experience for our family to enjoy a relaxing getaway and feel confident that our daughter had safe meal options.”

Highly recommend making a reservation beforehand as it was very crowded 15 mins after opening and is a small restaurant. ITALY

Ristorante Quinoa
Location: Florence, Italy
“This place is 100% gluten-free and serves ‘American’ food. I had the fried chicken strips, potato wedges, and my wife had a burger. They serve fresh bread and olive oil to start. Make a reservation if you’re not Italian because they’ll turn you away (that left a sour taste in our mouth because the place was empty when they turned away a few desperate celiacs). Italians without reservations were seated immediately but maybe that’s just a cultural thing.”
