“We have multiple allergies and safely ate lunch here. Giant pretzel is vegan. Our egg and tree nut allergic daughter had chicken nuggets and fries (no egg or dairy in nuggets). Our dairy allergic daughter had a kids hamburger and fries. Both kids meals came with sealed HoneyMaid graham crackers. (Note: adult burger bun contains dairy, kids bun does not.)”

“They are completely gluten-free and have lots of healthy, organic options. I always have their chicken tenders in my freezer for quick/healthy options for my kids as well. They sell a huge bag of them that you can keep in the freezer.”

Olive Garden Italian Restaurant

Location: Santa Clarita, California

“They were great at listening and double checking their foods for us. Even brought me out the label to their margarine that they use on the breadsticks to assure me further. We ordered the kid’s chicken fingers with plain pasta . It was dairy and egg-free. They have a fully updated list of allergens on their website too.”

FLORIDA

Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café

Location: Orlando, Florida

“Cosmic Ray’s now has a dedicated allergy kitchen and allergy chefs who are trained on cross-contamination and change gloves… the whole shebang! You tell them you have an allergy at the order station and they call someone over to assist you and go through the allergy binder with you. I’m shellfish and fish- They don’t have any kind of seafood food items here. So I was good to order from the regular menu. My peanut and tree nut allergic son- He was able to order off the regular menu also. The only nuts they have are Uncrustables they sell. My son with peanut, tree nut, egg, dairy, and tomato allergies—he ordered chicken nuggets and french fries.”

Surfing Deer

Location: Santa Rosa Beach, Florida

“We were greeted upon arrival and the hostess reconfirmed the allergies I provided when making our reservation. Our waiter asked about the allergies right away and was happy to check with the kitchen. Our two girls (one dairy, one egg + tree nut) were able to have the grilled chicken tenders, fries and fruit. The bread they brought out to start the meal was also safe. There was a vegan (also nut-free) dessert we could have gotten but we were too full from our meal. This felt like a special place (fancier but still kid friendly) and we felt well taken care of… we will be back.”

@cbuckley who manages tree nut, milk, egg, and vegetable allergies

Wingstop

Location: Jacksonville, Florida

“I usually don’t feel like cooking, but with a child with severe food allergies, it’s frightening to eat out or order takeout. Wingstop is one place we frequent a lot! They post their allergens right on their website and we haven’t had any issues with Wingstop. Our favorite (little on the spicy side) is the Louisiana Dry Rub extra well done. Sooooo good! Reagan loves their chicken tenders, french fries and fried corn AND they are on DoorDash. After work, I also don’t feel like going to pick up the food, so DoorDash is a major plus!”

Pinocchio Village Haus

Location: Orlando, Florida

“We had dairy-free and gluten-free pizza, chicken nuggets, and fries in dedicated fryers! Other sides included pre-packaged apple slices and carrot sticks. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the entire process! Make sure to speak with someone regarding your allergies and concerns instead of placing a mobile order! The food was delicious and they have great allergy protocols.”

GEORGIA

Pickle Barrel Cafe & Sports Pub

Great Wolf Lodge

Location: LaGrange, Georgia

“The head chef was amazing! I wish I could remember his name because he remembered our daughter’s name and said hi to her every time we passed him in the lodge. He prepared a safe hamburger (no bun), hotdog (no bun) and grilled chicken strips along with French fries. All top 8-free as they used rice oil for frying and designated fryers to avoid cross-contamination. Such a great experience for our family to enjoy a relaxing getaway and feel confident that our daughter had safe meal options.”

HAWAII

Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa

Location: Kapolei, Hawaii

“We stayed 6 nights and barely used the kitchen in our villa (mostly just for easy breakfast/lunches). All food items are clearly labeled in Ulu Cafe and my girls (dairy) (egg + tree nut) were able to safely eat many orders of chicken strips and fries (although we were advised of risk of cross-contamination), peanut butter and jelly, burgers, bagels, and many other snacks and cereals on the resort. There is a Dole Whip stand as well as a shave ice stand (both can be dairy free), which was super fun for my kids to try and order for themselves. The staff at the Luau was particularly helpful and our cast member/server introduced me personally to the head chef to go over ingredients and he customized a bento box for each of my daughters to enjoy during the show. We successfully attended a character breakfast, ate at two separate restaurants and ordered poolside almost daily — more than we’ve ever eaten out on vacation before! I can’t say enough positive things about how much we felt cared for and how confident and knowledgeable every single cast member was that we came in contact with regarding food allergies. Additionally, all food came out of the kitchen with an ‘allergy’ pick in it. We will be back, Aulani!”

When we ordered, the chef came out to confirm his allergens and the meal. I eat dairy-free, and appreciated the menu also had a whole vegan selection. Outdoor dining space, high chairs, and lidded cups made it extra kid friendly!”

MISSOURI

Q39 – Midtown

Location: Kansas City, Missouri

“We’ve visited Q39 twice now on trips to Kansas City. Both experiences were great. The food is great and the waitstaff were knowledgeable and accommodating. They answered questions about the menu and entered allergy orders separately and had them marked as ‘allergy orders’ for the kitchen when preparing the food. The restaurant has a helpful allergen guide on its website. Our allergy kids had the chicken tenders and fries and cheeseburger and fries and gave it ’12 stars.'”

Red Door Woodfired Grill

“The restaurant was nice and the food was very good. The waitstaff and management were accommodating and knowledgeable about food ingredients. They verified menu items that didn’t contain our allergens and advised us to avoid dessert items that may contain our allergens. Our kids enjoyed chicken tenders and fries and the cheeseburger and fries. A great place that our family would visit again when in Kansas City!”

NORTH CAROLINA

High Point University

Location: High Point, North Carolina

“Allergy area free or top 8. Chef jacket identified not only her name but that she was an allergy specialist. Dedicated area. Lots of items to choose from. Daughter ordered fried chicken tenders, fries, and had cookies and sorbet for dessert. This college gets a big thumbs up for this milk/tree nut mom. This was just a college tour- but allergy protocols make me feel much better about ‘letting go’ a bit”

Stable Cafe

Location: Asheville, North Carolina

“Wonderful place!! Didn’t notice on the website but when you let the waiter know about food allergy, she immediately call the chef to the table. (There is a * at the bottom of the menu that mentions about food allergy/dietary restrictions… the chef will come by the table to talk to you).
Everyone enjoyed a yummy simple lunch. My kids were so happy to be able to enjoy their yummy lunch. (For our allergy, we have the options for burger OR chicken tenders with fries or chips and a fruit. They use canola oil to fry fries and chips. Burger was safe. No egg or egg wash in chicken tender and burger buns. Cautions!! Chef mentioned that chicken tender was not made from in house so he has to verify to make sure is safe. Suppliers might change in the future, so always ask to be safe. Also, we were lucky with the timing of our Biltmore Estate tour and finished 10 minutes before the Stable’s Cafe open and lucky to get a table. I would definitely make a reservation next time for sure. They fill up fast!!”

Devil’s Krafthouse

At least a few years ago, there used to be a head chef that had a child with food allergies so there was very good protocol for orders with allergies. Never had a problem with cross-contamination despite significant dairy in the kitchen.”

My dairy allergic daughter shared the chips and salsa appetizer and had the chicken strips and fries. My egg and tree nut allergic daughter had a cheese quesadilla with rice and beans and chips. It was so nice for our daughters to be able to order their first choice of food with no modifications. The food was delicious and totally hit the spot after a fun day in the PC Adventure Park. CANADA

Almond Butterfly Bistro

Location: Toronto, Canada

“Almond Butterfly in Toronto is an absolute dream! It is completely gluten-free and they have many dairy-free options. The wait staff is super helpful and accommodating to allergies. They even brought out a book with all of the ingredients listed to give me peace of mind. I tried the dairy-free cheese burger burger on a gluten-free bun with a side of onion rings. YES, GLUTEN-FREE ONION RINGS!! It was absolutely amazing. They also have baked goods. The blueberry muffins and ginger snap cookies are great.

Back in Toronto a year later, and thought I’d update my review. I’d still rate the restaurant a 10/10. They were very helpful with answering all my allergy questions and the food is delicious. The chicken fingers were so crispy—would definitely order these again! But they changed the recipe for the onion rings and it wasn’t it… still dreaming of the ones from last year. Onion rings aside, still a great allergy-friendly option!”

THAILAND

Centara Anda Dhevi Resort & Spa Krabi

“Cannot say enough amazing things about this resort. We told the front desk when we first arrived about Ellie’s allergies and immediately they put a note to the entire staff. The next morning, we were greeted by the chef who offered to make a special pancake without any allergens, & walked us through the entire (delicious) buffet showing us what was safe, and what to avoid. Each morning, they had a pancake ready for Ellie when we got down there. Ellie also had the spaghetti bolognese with no cheese, chicken nuggets, and french fries, and a daily fruit blend from the pool bar! Beautiful people, beautiful place, and amazing food. PS, I made this allergy card and had the hotel staff that spoke good English check it and it was a lifesaver everywhere!”
