Marina Bar And Grill At Bass Lake Watersports Boat Rentals
Location: Bass Lake, California
“Initially, I didn’t have a great feeling since the menu basically said that all food had the chance of being cross-contaminated. So, I encouraged our daughter to pick something super simple (our typical strategy when we’re not 100% sure). She asked for fries and chicken tenders. The waitress flagged the order for allergies and the kitchen staff came out to verify that she was okay with sunflower seed oil for the fries. Successful meal after a day out on the lake for peanut and tree nut allergies.”

Living Room
Location: Trcukee, California
“Menu is well-labeled and lead waitstaff is educated and proactive. No peanuts on menu, but there are tree nuts in a few items (also well-labeled). We ate here three times after skiing. Kids had burgers, fries, chicken tenders – all the kid things. Chocolate dipped chocolate chip cookies that come with the kids meals are not labeled as nut-free, likely because they can’t be guaranteed. Harley did pass them for peanuts, but we can’t guarantee she’d pass all of them. We safely had the chocolate fondue dessert, but be aware of the banana bread that contains walnuts – just ask to skip it and get double strawberries or marshmallows. Overall a good experience…but note that service is slow, especially during busy times.”

On the first night, we got takeout from Apres Burger Bistro. I confirmed that they had a dedicated gluten-free fryer for the fries and that they could make a burger for me with a gluten-free bun on a clean surface and with clean tools. I had the All-American burger with chicken (preference). My kiddo with nut and sesame allergies was able to enjoy their chicken tenders with fries.”

I spoke with the a staff member about my daughter’s allergies and she was so kind and pleasant. She told me there was absolutely NO Nuts in their kitchen. They even have a separate fryer for the French fries. She was more than happy to bring out packaging for me to review. They use Tyson chicken fingers and they MAKE THEIR OWN FRENCH FRIES!! They just cut potatoes and fry them in canola oil, nothing else! I was super happy with this eatery and will definitely stop back there the next time we visit the park.”

You tell them you have an allergy at the order station and they call someone over to assist you and go through the allergy binder with you. I am allergic to shellfish and fish but they don’t have any kind of seafood items here. So I was good to order from the regular menu. My son, who’s allergic to peanuts and tree nuts, was also able to order off the regular menu. The only nuts they have are Uncrustables they sell. My other son, who’s allergic to peanuts, tree nuts, egg, dairy, and tomato, ordered chicken nuggets and French fries.”

“The chicken tenders, sandwiches and bowls are delicious. But what I was most impressed with was the dedicated and separate area for the shakes involved with peanuts. Most fast food restaurants I go to I cannot have the ice creams because of the cross-contamination, but this was a pleasant surprise. They reassured and showed me that they keep the equipment separate so that they can guarantee no cross-contamination. I always get the strawberry shake regular with no extras added like Oreos or chocolate chips since they cannot guarantee that the extra mix-in’s were not in contact with my allergens.”

Chicken Guy!

“Updated for COVID- I stop here every time I go to Disney Springs. As the name suggests, the only meat served is chicken (and bacon as a topping on the loaded Mac). You can never go wrong with getting chicken tenders and fries but the 22 sauces are what puts this place on the map. My top three favorites are the signature donkey sauce, garlic Parmesan, and the chipotle ranch. For their COVID safety measures instead of filling your own drinks at the soda machine, a server is doing it for you. They have you throw away lids after every refill. Tables are also socially distanced and wiped down immediately after use.”

“The chef came out to talk to us regarding our allergies. They have no peanuts or tree nuts in the restaurant so that was great! I had read some reviews that the milk shakes are safe for nut allergies, however when the chef showed us the ingredients, there was coconut oil in the shake mix base. We avoid coconut so we stayed away from the shakes. He was also diligent enough to inform us that the chicken nuggets are not made in-house, so he was unsure of possible cross-contamination. He showed us the allergen information for the nuggets and they did not contain peanuts or tree nuts, so we were comfortable with that! Also, the fries are dairy-free if you happen to be avoiding dairy!”

“This was such an awesome experience for my peanut and tree nut-allergic son!! He has always wanted to eat here when we go to Disney Springs. Our waitress said she was trained in food allergies and also has a nut-allergic child. She reassured me that she understands cross-contamination. The chef came out and took our order. We were told there are no nuts in the kitchen at all. We were told to avoid desserts because they come to them with allergy warnings (not made in-house). We are not 100% sure about coconut allergy, so we inquired about the coconut shrimp. We were told by the chef that the coconut shrimp is only cooked in the seafood fryer, not in the fryer with non-seafood items. My son had chicken nuggets and fries safely. The Big Cheese of Miami

“I’ve been going to The Big Cheese for pizza ever since Fall 2016, and I absolutely love it here!! The pizza is delicious!! (Perfect type of crust, just enough tomato sauce, and cheesy the way I love my pizza) I’ve eaten cheese pizza, pepperoni pizza, and chicken fingers (since 2016) all safely here. When I first came down in 2016, I talked to the Manager, and then ate successfully and safely here with my family first and then many times in college with friends and on my own. Vacationing here again recently, I decided to chat with the manager because I love to share all the allergy-friendly information I can find! I learned that the kitchen manager has a shellfish allergy, and has 2 kids with food allergies, so he is extra aware of what people with food allergies need. If you have ANY food allergies (to anything, including vegetables), let them (the waiter and the kitchen staff) know and they will be happy to prepare your meal in a dedicated, clean and safe space. My waitress was immediately on top of EVERYTHING, right after I mentioned my nut allergy. She immediately went over to the kitchen manager to check, and then came back to report that everything was safe 🙂 I had a delicious cheese pizza with my boyfriend and my family here again recently (May 2024), and I will continue to come back here!! So grateful to have found a place so delicious and so good close to where I went to college. This will forever be one of my top 3 favorite pizza places!”

Disney Cruise Line

“As a food-allergy parent to a toddler I was a mess getting on a ship for 7 days. I did indicate my sons allergies on the dining forms before boarding and went straight to the dining team once onboard to discuss it again. At lunch we chose to go to the pool area. I went to a quick service Pizza bar and indicated my son had food allergies. Immediately, the cast member asked for a dining manager to come assist me. I spent about 20 mins talking with her and she explained everything to me. How there are certain areas of the ship that are dedicated for food-allergy prep. She advised me to prep-order the next nights meal for my son each night at dinner so it would be ready. She had tons of chicken fingers, fries, and three pizzas made for our family for lunch that day. Plus safe cookies for the kids!! She found us EVERY night at dinner even though she was not our actual head server. She just wanted to make sure we were taken care of. She often brought prepackaged treats with her to leave with me so we had safe snacks in the room. It was amazing!”

Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa

“We stayed 6 nights and barely used the kitchen in our villa (mostly just for easy breakfast and lunches). All food items are clearly labeled in Ulu Cafe and my girls (one is allergic to dairy and the other is allergic to eggs and tree nuts) were able to safely eat many orders of chicken strips and fries (although we were advised of risk of cross-contamination), peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, burgers, bagels, and many other snacks and cereals on the resort. There is a Dole whip stand as well as a shaved ice stand (both can be dairy-free) which was super fun for my kids to try and order for themselves. The staff at the Luau was particularly helpful and our cast member/server introduced me personally to the head chef to go over ingredients and he customized a bento box for each of my daughters to enjoy during the show. We successfully attended a character breakfast, ate at two separate restaurants and ordered poolside almost daily — more than we’ve ever eaten out on vacation before! I can’t say enough positive things about how much we felt cared for and how confident and knowledgeable every single cast member was that we came in contact with regarding food allergies. Additionally, all food came out of the kitchen with an ‘allergy’ pick in it. We will be back Aulani!”

Black Barrel Tavern

“We always head here for the chicken tenders and fries! The food is above average bar food, and the bar/restaurant has been embraced by the neighborhood making for a lively and friendly vibe. The denizens of the West Loop somehow managed to get their burger voted best in the city in Bon Appetit’s Hamburger Hop! While clearly not the best in the city, it’s a fine burger and shows how much folks love this place. We are allergic to peanuts and tree nuts, and they use walnuts as a topping for salad so we feel comfortable with the their fryer. However, to be honest they are maybe not the most strictly run kitchen, and I would speak to them directly for dairy, egg, celiac, etc. The hidden gem of this place is their GM George Gellis. He is maybe the nicest man in the world. He brings out fruit, ice cream, lollipops to literally any kid that walks by. As we were sitting outside for dinner this weekend, some friends walked by and we start chatting. They weren’t even patrons but George brought out their two kids juice boxes just because they were there. Who does that?!”

We typically order chicken tenders and buttered noodles for the kids, but most of the menu is accommodating. We ordered the mussels and the short ribs the last time we dined here and both of these dishes didn’t contain any nuts. Cheers
Location: Boston, Massachusetts
“During our trip to Boston, we were excited to visit the original Cheers Bar. They had a full menu of various foods, including a lot of comfort and bar food. I was happy to see very few nuts on the menu (only 2 dishes with pesto). The waitress told us that it’s a peanut-free kitchen. If it’s peanut-free, meaning no peanuts present… or peanut-free meaning no ingredients are made in a facility with peanuts, I don’t know, as we don’t have a peanut allergy and I didn’t want to add chaos to our multiple allergy order. My one daughter got grilled cheese and fries and spinach artichoke dip. The other had wings and chicken fingers. They also let us know that the chips were not made in house so they couldn’t guarantee the ingredients. I appreciated that, because the waitress told us proactively, before I asked.”

“Wonderful place!! Didn’t notice on the website but when you let the waiter know about food allergies, she will immediately call the chef to the table. (There is a * at the bottom of the menu that mentions about food-allergy/dietary restrictions… the chef will come by the table to talk to you). Everyone enjoyed a yummy simple lunch. My kids were so happy to be able to enjoy their yummy lunch. For our allergy, we have the options for burger OR chicken tenders with fries or chips and a fruit. They use canola oil to fry fries and chips. Burger was safe. No egg or egg wash in chicken tender and burger buns. Caution!! The chef mentioned that the chicken tenders were not made in-house so he has to verify to make sure it’s safe. Suppliers might change in the future, so always ask to be safe. Also, we were lucky with the timing of our Biltmore Estate tour and finished 10 minutes before the Stable Cafe opened and were lucky to get a table. The manager I dealt with was phenomenal and accommodating. He took the time to cross check their food allergen menu binder in person for when I picked up the order and he took the time to do so over the phone when I placed the order. He even advised and cautioned me about the caesar salad that came with had the possibility of cross-contamination due to the dressing produced in shared facility and offered me the option to select another side. The chicken fingers were so crispy—would definitely order these again! But they changed the recipe for the onion rings and it wasn’t it… still dreaming of the ones from last year. Onion rings aside, still a great allergy-friendly option!”

“Enjoyed good modern Canadian food: prime rib sandwich, chicken strips and salad. Server noted which ingredients were MAY contain, such as the croutons, which they removed proactively. Appreciated the clear menu and training of the staff.”

“We’ve never been able to have lunch on a ski hill before. Absolutely amazing experience. Staff is super knowledgeable and offer to check ‘may contain’ and change gloves to reduce cross-contact risk without being asked.
All chicken fingers they serve are gluten-free and made in a dedicated fryer, as are the fries.
They were also good for my tree nut allergy child who was also able to eat a burger.
They said the street tacos were also GF and they hope to have GF ramen by the end of the season. We ate here every single day and loved it.
It’s on the Blackcomb side at the bottom of Glacier Express and Jersey Cream lifts.”

CAYMAN ISLANDS

Ristorante Pappagallo
Location: West Bay, Cayman Islands
“Our waiter was lovely and checked on all food for our daughter with a peanut allergy. She safely shared the gnocchi starter, kids chicken tenders and fries (better than the Ritz, she said!) and lemon sorbet for dessert. We never do dessert out, but he explained that they made all the sorbets in house and there was no worries of cross-contamination. She loved it. Highly recommend.”

SPAIN

Globales Cala Viñas
Location: Calla Vinyes, Spain
“This hotel was so good with handling my allergies when it come to meal times. It is buffet food in an all inclusive resort but i felt so comfortable. The waiting staff got to know me after the first day and every time i come in they asked me if I was ready and lead me to the buffet with the head chef and they went though every dish to tell me yes or no for my allergies/may contain dishes. I felt super comfortable and they made me feel very relaxed.
There is also a mini fridge in the room so I was able to put some snacks in there (though I didn’t really use this as I was comfortable eating at meal times).
The snack bar by the pool that serves simple food through out the day. chicken nuggets, pizza, burgers and toasted sandwiches. Felt very comfortable eating here too.
I was very happy and comfortable drinking the drinks and cocktails. Staff allowed me to see the bottles to google them. I took my allergy translator card with me and staff took my allergies very seriously. Would definitely come back again!”
