Nut and Sesame-Free Nantucket Top Picks

Hi! I’m Carlin and I travel to Nantucket every summer to visit my family! I found several safe spots to eat with my peanut, tree nut, and sesame allergies and shared them on the Spokin app—they are also all featured in this guide! One of my favorites from my most recent trip was Town, where I safely had a fresh tomato flatbread. A fun thing to do if you are on Nantucket is shop around town! My favorite stores are Cattivo, Vis a Vis, and The Skinny Dip. Follow me Spokin @carlinhanley to see all of my allergy-friendly reviews and on Instagram @sweetlifeofcarlin!

45 Surfside Bakery and Café

“Just got coffee here but my mom and sister got breakfast sandwiches and said they were great! Definitely want to go back to ask about food but one thing I did notice is none of their smoothies or açaí bowls have peanut butter which felt huge!”

Something Natural

“LOVE their bread!! They have tons of dairy-free options. I love the Herb and the Cinnamon Raisin. You can’t go wrong with Portuguese bread if you can eat dairy! The staff is helpful with explaining what’s safe and what’s not!”

Town

“Had such yummy dinner here! Split a flatbread as an appetizer and got the ancient grains salad. Both were AMAZING!! Menu was also labeled for dairy-free, nut-free, and gluten-free. Sat outside—a perf Nantucket vibe.”

Lemon Press

“They do use nuts in some of their smoothie bowls but I stopped in and got coffee and their syrups are dairy-free and they have oat, almond, soy and coconut milk!”

Cru

“I was so excited to come here to try their signature drink called the CRUcumber only to find out it was made with toasted sesame. I asked the bartender if he could make me one but leave it out and he said he’d swap it for agave because that would make it taste a little better. He used a clean shaker for me and told me to remind him about my sesame allergy if I wanted another so he could make it safe again. They were SO good and they were so nice and accommodating.”

Jack + Charlie’s Ice Cream

“came back today and noticed EVERYTHING was labeled. They labeled on the board what ice creams contained nuts + dairy, that the non-dairy was coconut-based, and that they made homemade GF waffle cones! Plus, they had gluten, dairy and nut-free brownies. I got Souther Peach ice cream and it was amazing!! Super cute spot right near the Hyline dock! “

The Juice Bar

“The BEST ice cream on island. They have juice, smoothies and ice cream. They have dairy-free sorbet and they use clean scoop, do a glove change, etc. Highly recommend!! Plus it’s close to the ferries. But be warned, you will likely wait in a long, long line!”

Millie’s Mid-Island at the Rotary

“Safely got takeout from here last night! Our family ordered taco boxes which came with chicken, steak, tortillas , and a ton of different toppings, but forgot to put an allergen note on so I ordered my own separately. The issue with this restaurant is that you can’t call to place your order so I was a little nervous about the whole allergy thing. But, I was able to text a manager to let them know my meal was for someone with an allergy and then also on their online ordering form, they had a place to check off what you were allergic to, make substitutions and the best part was each menu item said what the allergens were in each dish so I just made sure to choose something that naturally didn’t have nuts or sesame in it. Overall, was safe and so delicious! Definitely recommend and those taco boxes are perfect if you’re feeding a crowd!”

Brotherhood of Thieves

“Stopped in here for a few apps during our shopping trip and split curly fries and burrata. All safe and delish! Also got the watermelon sangria which was amazing!!”

Handlebar Café

“Cutest new coffee shop!! Just got an iced coffee with a flavor shot and oat milk but was good! Also their iced green tea was AMAZING”
