ALABAMA
Soul Bowlz
Location: Fairhope, Alabama
“Always a big fan of Soul Bowlz’s healthy and delicious smoothie bowls! Their bowls and smoothies are dairy-free and come in a variety of flavors with all sorts of toppings. The granola is dairy-free, too! They do not use peanuts in house as far as I know. I haven’t been in since the start of the pandemic, but prior to that, I know peanuts were not used in house at all. They do use coconut in house as a topping but, being a small store, they are accommodating as far as double checking for allergens in my experience!”

Infruition
Location: Phoenix, Arizona
“Outstanding with food allergies! I messaged this place on IG prior to coming to Phoenix. I am always searching for the best açaí bowls, but my search is often hindered by cross-contact…nearly impossible to find a safe place so nearly always resort to making my own! I was struck by seeing on the Foxy Fruit website mention of a dedicated prep area, DMed them, and was very pleasantly surprised to find that they have a blender that is free of peanuts and tree nuts! (Does contain coconut). Plus, there is no milk or eggs or wheat in store. When I arrived, they asked “are you Melissa?” and could not have been more accommodating! They cut me all fresh fruit and replaced the granola and coconut (did not have to do CC) with extra fruit! So nice I came back twice!”

Local Juicery
Location: Sedona, Arizona
“So many yummy and nourishing smoothies, juice, smoothie bowls, coffee or elixirs, and even lunch and other breakfast items! I had a smoothie bowl and they even gave me the granola on the side AND picked out the almonds, since I told them my almond allergy wasn’t severe and I didn’t worry about cross-contamination for that allergy. They are very allergy-aware and allowed me to modify smoothie and latte, to make them without almond milk and almond butter. Their protein powder is soy, egg, peanut, gluten and tree nut-free (Epic Protein)! They sanitize the blenders for allergies, as long as you tell the staff you have an allergy! Great pre-hike fuel or post-hike recovery!”

They got me fresh fruit (although limited selection) that had not been out on the line, as well as coconut chips (Dang brand) from a new package. So happy to find this place! Simply O Organic Juice Bar
Location: Los Alamitos, California
“This is by far the best juice and açaí bowl place I’ve been to. And I’ve tried a ton. The granola in the açaí bowls is gluten-free, but there are hemp seeds in it. The Simply O Açaí Bowl is my favorite, minus the dried coconut. I also love the Green Street Juice, plus I add pineapple juice to it. Pretty much all of their products are organic. Not certain if they sweeten their açaí with evaporated cane juice or not. And, it’s a mom and pop shop owned by a very sweet military veteran who really loves what he does.”

“The cutest coffeehouse on Scripps’ College campus! It is completely run by students and most are pretty knowledgeable about allergies and cross-contact. They do have almond milk, but I’ve safely had coffee here, as well as smoothies! There are no nuts/nut butters in the smoothies, besides the choice of almond milk. They will clean the blender if you ask. They have almond butter for bagels but it is in sealed packets. They also have lots of safe snacks, yogurts, and drinks for sale!”

Coupa Cafe – GSB
Location: Stanford, California
“They were really great here! My mom and I just got drinks, but they were safe for me. This chain on campus is great. Also, this was one of the only coffee shops I have ever been to where I can have EVERY SINGLE one of the smoothies! With all of my fruit allergies and hatred of bananas, this is usually really hard for me, but all of the smoothie choices were safe and so good. I had the matcha and mango smoothie and it was so yummy!”

Northside Shack – Point Loma
Location: San Diego, California
“INCREDIBLE açaí bowls! I want to go back to San Diego purely for this! All 3 sorbet flavors are kept separate from toppings and not made in the blenders. They handle allergies by cutting all new fresh fruit (everything from pineapple to kiwi to mango to berries to grapes…as much or as little as you’d like!) and getting all other toppings (like honey, coconut, etc.) out of brand new containers. I went 3 days in a row for lunch, always different employees, and always handled amazing!”

WONDER Press – Boulder (Pearl St)

“This is the CUTEST coffee shop with smoothies, juice, toast, broth, and more. I could live in here, it’s so adorable! My allergic daughter was not with me but, as a reflex, I always ask to see if she could possibly come back—they are 100% peanut-free, which surprised me because they had a sign about nut milks and from the sign I wouldn’t even think it could be safe! The manager, Haley, also has a peanut allergy! They have cashews in the cinnamon cashew, but very limited. There are almonds which my daughter isn’t allergic to. Given what I know, I would feel comfortable coming back at least for coffee, juice, or a smoothie! Located on the adorable Pearl Street in Boulder! Can’t wait to go back!”

Location: Reno, Nevada
“This restaurant is completely gluten-free and almost everything is organic! They have choices for everyone. I had a breakfast bowl, The Dragon Bowl, that was very delicious! They have savory bowls, some warm and some more salad-like. If those aren’t enough choices, you can also create your own bowl with a base, 4 veggies/crunch, add-ons if you like for an additional charge, and a dressing. They also have juices, blended “elixirs—more than a smoothie”, wellness shots, and hot elixirs. There are vegan and vegetarian choices, as well as meat. And they have an ingredient book! (And of course cookies!)”
