EAT

1. South Edison

Location: Montauk

“This place is amazing. Almost everything is gluten-free and they are wonderful with nuts. Had calamari for the first time here since my diagnosis and it was delicious! The staff knew about cross contamination and told me to not eat dessert since it is made on shared equipment. Would 100% recommend.”

2. Lobster Roll Southampton

Location: Southampton

“This place a must if you’re ever going out east! Original location is in Amagansett, but they just opened this one right off of Montauk Highway in Southampton so it’s a great pit stop if you’re headed further out. They have a dedicated gluten-free fryer/toaster and a separate gluten-free menu! The lobster salad roll with french fries is my go-to order here.”

3. Sagtown Coffee

Location: Sag Harbor

“Got a nice peach iced tea here! Super cute place with great drink options as well as food. I told them I was gluten-free and nut-free and they knew that the teas were completely fine.”

4. Harvest on Fort Pond

Location: Montauk

“We eat here all the time but used to bring our own food for the kids. However, we have been lucky with several options when we told the staff to be careful. They have let the cooks know in the back and we haven’t had any issues. The mussels and salmon are a favorite with my kids.”

6. Loaves & Fishes Food Store

Location: Sagaponack

“The prices are ridiculous but food was amazing. For example, the lobster salad was so yummy, but at $100 per pound, it is definitely a delicacy. Salmon was also very tasty, but $48 per pound—crazy! The woman serving was not familiar or the nicest with my allergen questions, but all the items that would seem gluten-free were.”

7. Almond

Location: Bridgehampton

“Love this restaurant. The owner was so nice! They were behind on our reservation and the owner sent over a seafood platter just because of that. But first he asked if we had any allergies! I had the street corn and steak frites—minus the frites because they let me know they were not made in a dedicated fryer. The kimchi rice was also one of my favorites and oysters were some of the best I’ve had. Great restaurant with even better staff!”

8. Dopo La Spiaggia: East Hampton

Location: East Hampton

“This place is great! They have gluten-free pasta if you ask for it, which is super good since they have amazing and delicious pasta dishes. The food here is so good and it’s one of my favorite places in East Hampton. Nuts have never been an issue here as well and the staff is always helpful.”

9. Hampton Chutney Co.

Location: East Hampton

“Amazing food! All of the dosas and uttapams are gluten-free and there are hardly any nuts on the menu except for the pastries and the chutneys. I’ve been eating here for my entire life and never had a problem. The staff are amazing and can help you with questions about ingredients. They also have great soft serve ice cream which is nut and gluten-free!”

11. Amber Waves Farm, Market & Cafe

Location: Amagansett

“Great food! No nuts at all (including in the pastries!) and lots of gluten-free options. The chocolate scone is gluten-free and tastes amazing! Cashiers are super helpful and you can make substitutions to dishes as well.”

12. Doubles

Location: Amagansett

“Delicious Caribbean food! They have lots of gluten-free options, like getting curries over rice instead of in rotis and salad bowls. The ice cream here is also super cool, as it has very exotic flavors like Pandan or Coconut (being Vietnamese I was surprised they would have pandan!). Excited for next year to see what they add to the menu.”

14. il Buco al Mare

15. Sag Pizza

Location: Sag Harbor

“This place is such a good find! The pizzas are so good and they offer gluten-free dough for all of the options. Not 100% sure it’s celiac-safe, but I didn’t feel sick at all after eating and I know many of my celiac friends were fine here as well. The pizza is delicious and it’s nice to have a greasy slice of pepperoni after all this time.”

16. Maple Tree BBQ

2. Snowflake Ice Cream Shoppe

Location: Riverhead

“I’ve been going to Snowflake since I was a little girl! Their homemade ice cream is unreal. They always have a few gluten-free options available and will always use a clean scoop.
