Day 1

Hotel: Kvosin Downtown Hotel
“Great hotel in the center of Reykjavik. Our room has a small kitchenette with a sink, small induction stove, small refrigerator and plenty of plates, cups and utensils. The lobby also sells a few food and drink items and are helpful with nearby restaurants. The hotel is very close to many restaurants and grocery stores.”

Breakfast: Keflavik International Airport
“Tons of food options and very clean. They even have a grocery store-like market serving all sorts of fresh foods and smoothies with allergens clearly labeled. Great!”

Lunch: Lava Restaurant
“Amazing food, cocktails and view. So delicious! Limited nuts on the menu and even the bread was safe. A must if visiting the Blue Lagoon!”

Dinner: Sjávargrillið
“Limited nuts on the menu and super educated waitstaff. Familiar with cross-contamination and said my daughter couldn’t eat the bread. Has three ‘kids’ menu’ items too! Fantastic food, cocktails and atmosphere!”

Coffee Shop: Blue Lagoon Cafe
“Inside the Blue Lagoon. A great spot to grab coffee, drinks for the kids and snacks.”

Drinks: In-Water Bar

Dessert: Saeta Husid
“I emailed with this ice cream shop ahead of our visit and they assured us they could accommodate a nut allergy. When we got there, they were as accommodating as promised. It’s rolled ice cream, so they have two anti-griddles (one of which is kept nut-free) and they use separate, clean utensils. The only nutty mix-ins are peanut butter and Nutella. Great spot and safe!”

Sightseeing: Blue Lagoon

Sightseeing: Hallgrimskirkja
“No food here, but lots of options nearby!”

Sightseeing: Rainbow Street
“One of the most famous streets in Reykjavik and lots of restaurants, cafes, coffe shops and stores nearby.”
Day 2

Breakfast: The Laundromat Cafe
Great cafe for coffee, breakfast or lunch. Limited nuts. I did see peanut butter on a couple things, but waitstaff talked to chef specifically about my daughter’s allergy and there were lots of options!

Lunch: Restaurant Geysir Glima
“This is the restaurant in the visitor’s center right by the Strokkur Geyser. Excellent food and tons of safe options. I didn’t see any nuts.“

Dinner: Forrettabarinn
“I made the reservation noting the allergy and when they were seating us, they immediately acknowledged the allergy and informed us that there were no nuts in the kitchen. Wonderful restaurant with friendly and knowledgeable staff!”

Snack: Geysir Center

Dessert: Pylsuhusid
“This is primarily a hot dog stand, but they have a soft serve ice cream side with toppings. The woman helping us was extremely accommodating and helpful. The soft serve and cones were safe for my daughter, but she didn’t use any toppings at all since the dry toppings were all next to nuts and she was uncertain of allergens in sauces. She changed gloves before handling my daughter’s cone and was super understanding and kind.”

“Several places to stop for safe food in this gorgeous national park!”

Sightseeing: Strokkur Geyser
“One of the most active geysers in Iceland the visitor’s center. Has lots of safe food options and a great gift shop.”

Lunch: 101 Bistro
“Limited nuts and very tasty food. The waiter said that everything was safe except for the Baba ganoush which contained walnuts but he assured us it was kept separate. Safe, friendly, and very good.”

Dinner: Matarkjallarinn- Foodcellar
“Excellent restaurant that was extremely accommodating, not only with the nut allergy, but with simplified fancier meals for kids. They have almonds and pecans in a couple appetizers and dishes, but they were very comfortable handling the allergy. I also noticed that dishes with nuts were marked with an “(n)” as well, which was especially helpful if the description didn’t mention that ingredient. Other allergens had similar markings. Safe, delicious and a fun atmosphere!”

Dessert: Saeta Husid

Sightseeing: Ishestar Horseback Riding
“We went horseback riding here and it was super clean and they don’t serve any snacks (except coffee), so nothing that could be a danger! Wonderful people working there as well!“

Sightseeing: Laugavegur
“Great shopping street in Reykjavik. Lots of safe restaurants, ice cream, cafes and grocery stores!”
Day 5

Hotel: Hotel Vik I Myrdal
“This is the nicest hotel in Vik and it has an excellent dinner restaurant, Berg. Breakfast is included with the room rate and is served in Berg and the waitstaff knew exactly what was safe and what wasn’t. I didn’t see anything with nuts, but there were a couple items that were cross-contaminated. Our “family room” does not have a refrigerator, but there is the hotel restaurant and a grocery store practically across the street. Vik is very small, but there are plenty of restaurants to choose from as well!”

“I emailed with this restaurant prior to our arrival and they assured us they could accommodate a nut allergy. The whole menu is nut-free with the exception of one pesto sauce that goes on a sandwich and the pesto is made with pine nuts (safe for us). They have a coffee bar and a case of desserts (some of which contain nuts), but all of those are prepared elsewhere. The Icelandic Lava Show is there, so grab some delicious soup (several to choose from), enjoy the lava show (if you have tickets) or shop in their adorable shop. The restaurant/shop was so much cuter in person than it looked online! And safe!”

Dinner: Ströndin Bistro and Bar
“No nuts on the menu and they were great with allergy taking careful note. Good food too!”

Drinks: Hotel Vik I Myrdal

There are almonds, hazelnuts, and cashews on the menu and even though my daughter is only allergic to the cashews, I said she was allergic to all nuts to make it easier. No issues whatsoever and perfect service, food and experience. You also have the privilege of looking at the famous Reykjavik church, which is right across the street!”

Dessert: Saeta Husid
