EAT

Swiss Chalet Restaurant

“Such a fun restaurant with so many gluten-free options! The waiters are well-informed on how to accommodate allergies and it is one of the first questions they ask. Tons of dishes are naturally gluten-free and it’s easy to make the cheese fondue gluten-free by just replacing the baguette pieces with any of their other dipping options. There is so much to choose from on the menu so this is a restaurant that you could make multiple reservations at within one visit to Vail. There are also multiple safe desserts such as a hot fudge sundae, chocolate fondue with berries to dip (they do not bring the sponge cake if you mention celiac), or chocolate-covered strawberries.”

Mountain Standard

“Outstanding! I was in Vail for 24 hours and had such a great dinner experience at Mountain Standard that I came back for lunch the next day! They take allergies very seriously, and I had a great phone conversation with the manager when I called to inquire and make a reservation. When I arrived, the head chef had already thought of a few options that he could prepare safely — not menu items but things he made just for me! I had delicious salmon, asparagus, rice, and salad- and the same thing the next day but with steak! Highly recommend!”

Vail Chophouse

“I have eaten here with my little sister and we both are allergic to peanuts and have had no issues.”

Red Lion

“Great place for people with nut allergies. Nachos, wings, and nuggets are delicious and almost all items on the menu are nut-free. Servers are cautious and always ask if there are allergies.”

Joe’s Famous Deli

“DELICIOUS sandwiches and any of them can be made on gluten-free bread that holds together well. One of the first places where I’ve been able to find a true gluten-free Italian or pastrami sandwich. It’s easy to miss this place, but when in Vail, it’s definitely worth a stop! Ski down the mountain to Vail village for this delicious sandwich then take the gondola back up to continue more trails!!”

The Fitz Bar + Bites

“Super helpful with all our food allergies and even remembered our order two days later when we went back!”

Alpenrose Vail

“The menu is clearly marked with gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan and the waiters always double-check with the chef. I ordered the fondue appetizer with gluten-free crackers and the rosti entree. The entree was well-seasoned with what I think was prosciutto and a very high-quality cheese on top. The fondue was divine and just the right amount of alcohol allowed a small taste that it was there. I’m pretty sure the crackers they used were original flavor of Mary’s. Highly recommend for a fun atmosphere and delicious experience!”

Bully Ranch Restaurant

“Great southwestern American food. Ribs, Mac and cheese, burgers, and fries are a family favorite. We have eaten here for years and never had any concerns with our two kids that have life-threatening nut allergies.”

Matsuhisa

“Our daughter has severe food allergies to peanuts, tree nuts, sesame seeds, eggs, and dairy. They came up with a variety of options for her to eat and always reiterated when she ordered seconds and thirds that they took precautions in the preparation. Highly recommend.”

Bart & Yeti’s

“Typical American food that is fried and lacks allergens. Have taken my two kids with life-threatening allergies here for years and have always felt safe.”

La Bottega

“The menu is marked but there are a lot of items they can make gluten-free if you ask. They offer a gluten-free pasta noodle that you can use in any pasta dish as long as the sauce is gluten-free (the waiters are informed on this and guide you through). I ordered the braised rabbit and it was SO filling and tender. Everyone at my table loved their food and the naturally gluten-free options were some of the prizes of the menu so there is no sense of missing out. Highly recommend!”

Local Joe’s Pizza & Delivery

“Delicious gluten-free pizza with a tasty crust that does not taste like a cracker (like other places). Not too thin and they bring in their gluten-free crusts from a dedicated facility to ensure no contamination! Highly recommend taking a night off from restaurants and ordering this pizza while in Vail.”

Los Amigos

“This is a family favorite because the food is good and almost everything on the menu is nut-free. The servers are knowledgeable and helpful. It’s also in a great location at the bottom of the ski slopes to watch all the skiers coming down the mountain!”

Up the Creek

“Waiters and chefs answer ALL allergy-related questions and are able to adjust many menu items, but there are also plenty that are naturally gluten-free. When I went ALL the salads and fish entrees were naturally gluten-free. I ordered the arugula salad which had delicious pears and a vanilla vinaigrette that added a unique sweetness to a salad I now know I love. For my entree, I ordered the prawns and scallops with a mushroom purée and it was filling and felt so sophisticated! Highly recommend staying around after the meal for a carajillo.”

Vendetta’s Restaurant

“Wait staff is helpful and educated on allergies. I have two kids with nut allergies and we’ve been going to this restaurant for years and never had a problem. Everything from the pizza to the pasta is delicious and nut-free. I would also recommend the bruschetta and calamari!”

@laurasum, who manages peanut and tree nut allergies

Blue Moose Pizza

“This is always our first stop in Vail because we know all our options are nut-free. The pizzas are delicious and the pasta with meatballs is worth a try! Servers are great about allergens in all of their items.”

@laurasum, who manages peanut and tree nut allergies

Flame

“Very well trained in gluten-free protocol. Double-checked everything. Even had amazing gluten-free chocolate soufflé for dessert!”

TREAT

Rimini Gelato & Chocolate

“Our daughter has severe food allergies to eggs, dairy, peanuts, tree nuts, and sesame. She has never had so many options for gelato. The dark chocolate was her favorite. And the gelato is absolutely delicious. The wait staff was well versed on allergies. A must in Vail.”

@therrickgraff, who manages peanut, tree nut, milk, egg, and seed allergies

The Remedy Bar

“Went here for the world-famous haute chocolate and it was divine! I usually do not enjoy hot chocolate but this one was so silky and high quality — it tasted like a truffle more than the typical powder from a box. The marshmallow on top was also gluten-free and melted so nicely into the drink which the waiter pours in front of you — so fun! Also recommend the classic espresso martini.”

STAY

Sonnenalp

“Staff is well versed on allergies and extremely accommodating. They often have granola bars at the front desk that have nuts but they also have fruit options.”

@laurasum, who manages peanut and tree nut allergies

Tivoli Lodge

“We’ve been staying here for years and the staff has always been so helpful in making sure all of our meals are peanut and tree nut-free. They have a buffet in the morning that has nuts but everything is clearly labeled. And after skiing, they always have nut-free chocolate chip cookies! Family favorite!”

@laurasum, who manages peanut and tree nut allergies

The Lodge at Vail

“The rooms do not have mini-bars so you don’t have to worry about walking into a room with nut-filled products. They often times have peanut butter cookies available in the lobby after skiing so keep a lookout.”
