“We grabbed a light lunch and German beers here after our Berlin walking tour. They had traditional Bavarian cuisine, including schnitzel, sausages, pretzels, etc. They had English menus and English-speaking waiters, so I did not need to use my Equal Eats card to communicate my allergy here — And there were no obvious nuts on the menu that I could see!”
Café am Neuen See

“Our friends hosted their wedding welcome party at Café am Neuen See — Such a cool venue! We enjoyed passed hors devours that I used my Equal Eats card to ask about. We also grabbed a pizza from the restaurant after the private event ended. Even if just for a drink and to hang out, don’t miss this beautiful beer garden while in Berlin. And make sure to rent a little rowboat on the pond, too!”
Katz Orange

“We enjoyed dinner and drinks with friends at Katz Orange! It’s a farm-to-table, family-style restaurant in a cool little courtyard. Our waiters were all English-speaking, so I didn’t need to use my Equal Eats card. Everything we ordered was fantastic — Highly recommend the beef brisket and sweet corn purée!”
Schlosshotel Berlin

“We stayed at this gorgeous Michelin property for a friend’s wedding! It had multiple dining options, including an extensive breakfast buffet, casual all-day lounge, formal sit-down dinner space, and a late-night cocktail bar. All the signage at the breakfast buffet was written in German, so I stuck to pre-packaged things like yogurt. At the lounge and restaurant, there were English menus, and I used my Equal Eats card to ask about my allergy. Our room had a sizable fridge for keeping leftovers, too. Everything we ate throughout the weekend was delicious. Overall, Schlosshotel was a destination in its own right with elaborate decor, manicured grounds, and excellent spa facilities — I don’t think I can afford to stay here again, but I certainly would if I could!”

“We were recommended Juno by friends, and it did not disappoint — We safely enjoyed the watermelon salad, Iberico pork, boneless chicken, and French fries. This location is a little further outside of the city center, which made for a lovely, quiet evening for our last night in Amsterdam!”

“Wow, this burger was definitely something to write home about! We had a delicious, canal-side dinner at Kikkie on our first night in Amsterdam. While there were mixed nuts available as a bar snack, I felt safe/comfortable ordering the burger and French fries. This place rightfully gets busy, and it’s no reservations, so come early!”

“We saw these buns through the window and couldn’t resist trying! The staff informed us that they do not use any peanuts in their kitchen, but warned there is always a risk of cross-contamination from their suppliers of tree nuts. They definitely use pistachio and likely other tree nuts, too. They happily offered to change their gloves and recommended we order the classic/plain cinnamon bun. It was incredible — We will be dreaming of it for years to come!”

“We had to try a classic stroopwafel while in Amsterdam! Hans Egstorf already had a detailed allergen guide displayed at the counter, which was a total green flag, and they quickly handed me a larger copy that was even easier to read once they saw us looking at it. The staff indicated that they do not use any actual peanuts in their kitchen, but there is always a risk of cross-contamination from the suppliers. (They definitely use both hazelnuts and pistachios). We understood and felt safe trying — I ordered raspberry and my husband got chocolate. We enjoyed them along the canals, and it was a total highlight of the trip for me!”

“My best find in Amsterdam! Van Stapele is a cookie shop that sells only one flavor — Dark chocolate dough with a white chocolate center. Such limited menus are a dream for the allergy community! Allergen statements were clearly displayed in the store, and a complete allergen guide was readily available on the homepage of their website. It stated the following: “There are no nuts in the cookies. However, the factory where the chocolate is produced also makes products containing nuts. Therefore, there may be traces of nuts in the cookies. We do not use any nuts or nut-based ingredients in our recipe.” Obviously had to buy a 6-pack!”
Flagship Amsterdam – Canal Cruise – Anne Frank

“We booked a one-hour canal cruise through Flagship with the wine and cheese package. The platter did come with mustard on the side, but nothing else (nuts/bread/fruit/etc). This was such a fun afternoon activity and the perfect way to see the city!”
