“For ice cream with a nut allergy, I would recommend getting the frozen yogurt in a cup so you can have less risk. The frozen yogurt is amazing, and I’ve had it ever since I was a kid, however I’ve never checked on the cone, so I get it in a cup.”

They had a couple of dairy-free options and a whole allergen menu available to see. Not only that, the people working offered to get me fresh toppings from the back to avoid any that have been cross-contaminated.
I had the vanilla froyo and the strawberry lemonade froyo, and it was SO GOOD! Plus, the prices were insanely reasonable.”

“A self-serve frozen yogurt spot! There were no peanut flavors tonight; they had 1 almond milk-based flavor and a few sorbets that were dairy-free. Toppings were all self-serve, and there was an area of toppings that didn’t have any nuts (sprinkles, etc.), so I grabbed toppings from there.”
@carlinhanley, who manages a peanut allergy

Rosie’s Frozen Yogurt

froYo Premium Frozen Yogurt

“I have always found it easier to manage my allergy at frozen yogurt places rather than ice cream shops. All the flavors are separate, and there weren’t any flavors with nuts. There were pecans in the first section of toppings, so I avoided that, but was able to get toppings from the other side. I know in the past they have been able to get fresh toppings from the back if needed!”

Thomas Sweet Ice Cream

“This is a popular ice cream spot for Rutgers students! They do have a lot of eggs and nuts in their products/ice creams, but I opt for their fruit-based sorbets, which come from a separate fro-yo type machine! “This is my favorite place to grab frozen yogurt with my friends, as it is right on Livingston Campus! I usually go for the original tart flavor, mango sorbet, or pomegranate raspberry sorbet. They even have an Oatly Soft Serve option. 16 Handles labels their flavors to indicate which ones are gluten-free, nut-free, vegan, and dairy-free. To avoid cross-contamination, I never get any toppings because there are often nuts.”

16 Handles
Location: New York, New York
“16 Handles went above and beyond. Their staff is very knowledgeable about allergens, ingredients, and cross-contamination. An amazing employee, Kadija, took the time to go through toppings and ingredients with me and let me see the original topping container it came in to confirm ingredients, went to a separate area in the back, got me a fresh spoon, and spooned fresh toppings into a cup for me. When I was paying, she made sure to wipe the scale to reduce any cross-contamination risk. They do have nut toppings, but if you explain your allergies, they will gladly give you fresh toppings from the back. All ingredients are listed on the froyo machines (except for one gluten-free ice cream, for which the staff can tell you the ingredients by looking it up). I feel very safe eating from here.”

“A lovely frozen yogurt stop in Bloomingdale’s! I got a mix of vanilla and plain with strawberries in the middle. They have a card with all the ingredients, and although the font is TINY, it has all the information you will need. Since they’re kept in separate machines, there is a very low chance of cross-contact. One of the staff even said he had a peanut allergy (there is a peanut crunch froyo), and he has never had a problem either! Delicious, absolutely would visit again!”

KALEIDOSCOOPS ICE CREAM
Location: Westhampton Beach, New York
“They have peanut-free soft serve with cones that are kept separate from the cones with nuts. When I informed the server I had a nut allergy, she immediately went and washed her hands before serving me. So impressed with the attention to allergies here. They have a lot of nut-flavored ice cream, so I didn’t feel comfortable eating from the regular ice cream or the toppings, but the soft serve and frozen yogurt were safe! If your only allergy is dairy, they have a ton of sorbet, Italian ice, and non-dairy ice cream flavors!”

Rhino’s Frozen Yogurt & Soft Serve
Location: Cincinnati, Ohio
“Best soft serve in town! I love going here with friends because it’s open 24/7. As you can see from the second photo, there’s a little allergen list above every flavor, which makes it super easy to figure out what you can and cannot have. When it comes to toppings, I only get chocolate syrup since it’s in a bottle. If, for some reason, you have a question or wanna check the allergy listing for something, they have a big book full of all the ingredients! Soft serve is always my top pick since I can feel comfortable knowing they don’t have to go through the clean scoop or not clean scoop situation.”

“This was my first time getting froyo in a very long time! It was all self-serve, so I asked at the counter before I got anything. There were no nuts in any of the flavors, and they said everything was safe except for the toppings. There were also “contains” notes under each flavor card. They instructed me not to have any of the toppings from the toppings bar due to the obvious cross-contamination, but if I wanted any, they could grab them from a fresh bin in the back. I got vanilla and original tart and opted for no toppings to play it safe! It was delish.”

Yogurtland Panguitch
Location: Panguitch, Utah
“I saw that there was a frozen yogurt place in the small town I was visiting, and so I went to check it out!
All of the flavors above their dispensers listed characteristics like “dairy-free,” “gluten-free,” “nut-free,” and “vegan.” I saw two options for dairy-free, and asked the staff about the ingredients, and the woman working said they don’t actually have the ingredients in house, but there’s a full allergen menu online with ingredients listed, and helped me to find it!
I was able to have the Mango Peach sorbet and the RocketPop sorbet, both of which were really good, and the dispensers were all clean, so I felt comfortable grabbing a sweet treat.
I personally wouldn’t get any of the toppings, but I think if asked, then it would be possible to get fresh toppings that haven’t been out on the line!”

“Staff confirmed that none of their flavors has peanuts or tree nuts! They mostly have fruit flavors (strawberry, mango, watermelon), but they had some cool flavors like cookies and cream and dulce de leche. Their toppings definitely did have nut products, though. I never get toppings anyway, but I saw big individual bags of toppings behind the counter, and the staff was very helpful, so I’m sure they wouldn’t have minded grabbing some of those toppings if asked. I got the cake batter flavor which was really good, but their chocolate flavor was underwhelming.”

“We stumbled upon this place and decided to try it even though there weren’t many reviews yet. We ordered frozen yogurt with fruit and honey. It was amazing! Best frozen yogurt my family had ever tried. It was creamy and refreshing, and good for my lactose intolerance because it was cultured (unlike ice cream). They cut up fresh fruit upon order, and the fruits were nowhere near the other toppings bar (which had peanuts and some sort of granola we didn’t get). I’ve never had Yogurtland, due to allergies, but my family told me this place was so much better. I’m definitely going back!”
