3. Frankie and Jo’s

“Dedicated peanut-free, gluten-free, vegan, and soy-free ice cream shop! This was such a find! They have fresh made gluten-free waffle cones that smelled like heaven! Most of the ice cream is made with coconut milk, but they do have one or two flavors with cashew milk, and one with almonds and pecans. However, they were so accommodating of tree nuts allergies. They have a separate nut-free scoop and washed hands and changed gloves and made sure I was safe! Their menu was also so thorough! “I’ve visited 3 different Smitten locations in the Bay Area and had fantastic experiences with my food allergies! The ice cream is made to order using liquid nitrogen, so it’s scooped from a base and then they would add the mix-ins separately (nuts and/or gluten-containing cookies, etc.). I always say I have an allergy and they change gloves and use clean equipment! I love their chocolate and vanilla flavors! I usually avoid the sprinkles/toppings just to be on the safe side because they are in an area with almonds—although they all have separate jars! But I have gotten their caramel and chocolate sauce before and both are so good! Highly recommend Smitten for safe ice cream in the Bay Area!”

“Shoutout to Soco Creamery for having non-dairy, oat-based ice cream! And 3 flavors of sorbet! I very rarely get to choose which flavors I want at an ice cream place, because my limitations usually choose for me. The Soco team was very well informed about allergies and used fresh scoopers without being asked! They were also quite amused by my excitement.
