“My sister and her friends took me here for the U of A game and it was a blast! Good (large) drinks and GREAT food. I had a prickly pear margarita and carne asada fries, a Mahi Mahi taco, and chips and guac! Everything was delightful and perfect for the day. They fried their fries in canola oil.”

“I had such a blast here! I was visiting Fayetteville to celebrate my friend’s birthday, and we went to Grub’s for the U of A game. We ordered fried pickles, fries, and burgers. They used canola oil to fry everything. This bar was definitely curated for the experience, and the food was too. Not necessarily the best burger or fried pickles I’ve ever had, but they certainly hit the spot! Once the game started, it was a little hard to get the attention of our waiter, but when we could she was very kind.”

“This place exceeded expectations in all areas, particularly with the service! This bar is directly above the Casino of the Sky and is near the Michael Jordan Steakhouse, Sol Toro, and Beauty & Essex. Our waiter was so helpful with answering my food allergy questions and said that the chips were made in separate oil so I can have their nachos! She also told me which specials were safe for me to eat and that they can easily make substitutions to dishes and sides. Saw no peanuts on the menu. It’s a great sports bar with tons of TVs so definitely check it out when you’re at Mohegan Sun! Pictures show the Frozen Strawberry Peach Sangria, Nacho Platter with mexicali chicken, and The Breakfast Burger from the specials menu with a side of sweet potato fries (instead of the hash brown rings)”

Their fried food is always gluten-free, but best to tell your server you have a gluten allergy as they will be super careful with cross-contamination and bring your food out with an allergy flag on it. My favorites from them are their fried pickle chips, all wing flavors and their fish and chips. They also have great cocktails, cider, seltzers, and some locations have gluten-free beer!”

“We love coming here for trivia and football games! They have a great menu, but their appetizers are the stars of the show – Especially the cheese curds, Bavarian pretzel, and wings. As usual we had looked at the menu and called beforehand. When we arrived the waitress confirmed no nuts of any kind which is always a win. We had the pork belly tacos and the beef birria tacos. Delish and safe. We pretty much never eat dessert at restaurants but they only offered churros so we decided to ask if they were homemade or came from a premix batter. The waitress went back to triple check with the chef and confirmed homemade with just eggs and flour. So we splurged and had the churros. Minus the chocolate sauce just in case. Rare treat to have a safe dessert. From there we walked across the street to the baseball game.”

The Vic On The Park
Location: Marrickville, Australia
“I’ve visited Vic On The Park a few times before for drinks and have always loved the atmosphere. It has a vibrant vibe, with live music, a fantastic indoor/outdoor pub space, and even a mini basketball court! However, I had never ordered food until recently. When I looked at the menu, I was pleased to see they offered a variety of dietary options, including vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free dishes.
Each table had a QR code, allowing you to order drinks and food directly. I was especially excited to see that their QR code was linked to the ‘me&u’ platform, which provided detailed dietary options for each order. I had previously encountered this platform at The Imperial Hotel in Melbourne and was impressed by its features, so I was delighted to see it being used in Sydney.
For each dish, there was a ‘change it up’ option, allowing you to remove ingredients from the dish. For instance, you could make the chips vegan by removing the aioli sauce. There was also a specific field for allergies, with checkboxes to indicate any allergens. Having seen this feature at the pub in Melbourne and knowing how well they managed my allergies there, I felt confident that Vic On The Park had the resources and knowledge to handle food allergies too.
I still chose to speak directly with a staff member to confirm, as I have multiple food allergies. I explained that I wanted to order a steak with chips and veggies and handed them my Equal Eats card, which they passed on to the kitchen. The chefs noted my seafood allergy and expressed concern because the steak was cooked on the same grill as the octopus. Fortunately, octopus is one of the few types of seafood I can eat! Even though we had already spoken to the chefs, the staff ensured my allergies were clearly noted when placing my order, so the chefs would be aware while preparing my meal. Here is what I safely ordered!
250g grain-fed rump, chips and vegetables.
When my meal arrived, the waiter showed me the food docket, which listed all my allergies. I chose to have no sauces or dressings to keep it simple. The food was delicious, and I was so impressed with their allergy procedures even through a QR code!”
