Niu Soft Serve Parlour
“Absolutely delicious dairy-free soft serve spot in Honolulu! They have a few flavors that rotate weekly, and you can check the website online. There is a sign posted with allergen information, and the owner was informed and very helpful. I ordered the Kalo Me Back sundae, which had toasted coconut, and he told me that he used the same oven to toast the coconut as he does the macadamia nuts. He offered to substitute it for Oreos, Captain Crunch, or Fruity Pebbles instead, though, and then got the Oreos out of a fresh bag for me. Soft serve is great because it comes out of a machine — no scoop necessary! There are vegan cones, too, which is always a plus. They have a storefront and also frequent the Kaka‘ako Farmer’s Market.”
“Updated Dec. 2022: I went back today and was so impressed with their service once again! They do serve some nuts (macadamia nut topping and peanut butter smoothies). I asked if any of the soft serve flavors had nuts, and they said no and listed off all the options that would be safe for me and any modifications I should make. When I asked about the waffle cones, the woman went to call her son on the phone to ask. I ended up getting the Hot Kulolo sundae and they offered to give me Oreos as a topping again instead of the standard macadamia nuts. I love this spot and definitely recommend it!”

Lahaina Shave Ice
“No nuts, no shrimp! Huge portions—the kid or ‘keiki’ cup was enough for all of us. Yes, dairy, as they serve condensed milk as a topping.”

Banan Waikiki Beach Shack
“Banan is a dairy-free and gluten-free ice cream shop. There are a few locations, I went to the one in Waikiki when staying on Oahu. The treat is plant-based, without added sugar, and uses locally grown fruit. There are smoothie bowls, açaí bowls, and more!”

Dave’s Ice Cream At The Ilikai
“It was a little frustrating that the website had no ingredient information, so we had to rely on the staff. But they seemed very informed and knowledgeable. They knew to get a fresh scoop and tub, and which ice creams had egg and nuts. Only two dairy-free options. Overall, a great experience!”
