Mariposa Baking Company
Location: San Francisco, California
“After hearing so many wonderful things about this bakery I had a chance to visit it, and it exceeded all of my expectations! Dedicated gluten and peanut-free, they do use pecans, walnuts, and almonds, but as Emily mentioned, they take cross-contamination seriously. I would highly recommend the chocolate croissants and the spanakopita!”

Melinda’s Free Bakery
Location: Capitola, California
“Dedicated gluten-free & peanut-free bakery in Capitola! I’ve found a lot of new bakeries popping up that are gluten-free + peanut-free but do use tree nuts, and found that there’s a lot of discrepancy in their allergen practices/cross-contact procedures. Melinda’s was the most tree nut allergy-friendly spot I’ve visited! None of their flour mixes contain nuts, so the only items that have tree nuts are pastries topped with them—I think it was just one with almonds! They also have a sandwich with pesto. They were fantastic about pulling stuff from different shelves, changing gloves, and keeping everything cross-contact free! They fill their cream puffs in the back after you order them so they’re super fresh, and I was so excited when the person working the register asked for a fresh glove change for a nut allergy before it was filled! Everything I got was so high quality and tasted delicious! Highly recommend the donuts, croissants, monkey bread, and breakfast sandwiches!”

Hôtel Bonaparte
Location: Montréal, Quebec
“For my stay in Montréal I chose Hotel Bonaparte located in Old Montréal. Love the neighborhood so far, there is a French feel with cute restaurants and cafes. The hotel includes a breakfast basket each morning delivered to your room. They were very accommodating with gluten-free options. They even asked if I was celiac! The breakfast included a croissant from a 100% gluten-free bakery down the street, a yogurt, cheese, clementine, and juice. The basket even came with a sign that said sans gluten and the croissant was sealed in a package. Highly recommend this spot!”

Le Marquis Signature Santé
Location: Montréal, Quebec
“This bakery is 100% gluten-free! This particular location is also sugar-free. They had items such as croissants and some pastries but their other location in Little Italy had more items like their eclairs. Highly recommend if you are visiting Montreal! Also close to the gluten-free crepe spot in Little Italy so it’s a perfect combo!”

Parc Sans Gluten
Location: Montréal, Quebec
“Seriously blown away by this bakery! 100% gluten-free! Just a quick bus ride away from Old Montréal is Parc Sans Gluten. Honestly the best gluten-free croissants I’ve tried. Would go back to Montréal just for these. A dedicated gluten-free bakery makes this place a must visit! They also have other items like cookies, tarts, and eclairs.”

Copains
Location: Paris, France
“Oh my gosh!! I can’t say this enough but this is by far the greatest gluten-free bakery in the world! They had every baked food you could think of, from croissants to dessert pastries to French breads. Right after my family went here, my parents went to a famous bakery in Paris and said they preferred the gluten-free pastries. If you are gluten-free and are in Paris, you must must try this bakery!”

Helmut Newcake
Location: Paris, France
“I went to a different location, but that one is not on Spokin so I’m doing my review for this one. Everything on their menu is gluten-free, which is why I went. I got there in the afternoon, but they still had a lot (if not all) of their products in stock. I talked to the lady behind the counter, explaining that I am allergic to a lot more than just gluten. I handed her my French allergy card, and she checked every pastry they had! She had an ingredient table like the other bakery I mentioned, but looked at it herself. I probably could’ve asked to see it but I trusted her. I ended up getting a cream puff (very messy and sweet, but I thought it was delicious), a salted caramel eclair (same story just a little less messy and sweet), a croissant, and a pain au chocolat. I had never had any of these things before, so I was really excited. When I asked my mom to try a little of the pain au chocolat. she said it tasted good, like a normal one (my mom has no allergies). Overall an amazing experience!”

Noglu Paris
Location: Paris, France
“AMAZING gluten-free heaven. It looks like croissants and pain au chocolat arrive by 9:30/10 a.m., so I recommend going by 9 a.m., getting coffee and tea and getting in like as soon as possible when the pastries arrive, because the shop is tiny and fills up FAST. The pastries are TO DIE FOR. Like so flakey, they don’t taste gluten-free.”

La Fenice
Location: Positano, Italy
“This family owned bed and breakfast is amazing. I notified them of my celiac disease before we arrived and they were incredibly prepared. Every morning they made an incredible breakfast including a basket full of packaged gluten-free breads, croissants, and crackers to accompany the fresh eggs, fruits, meats, cheeses, and more. We ate like Queens at this place every morning and ate fresh sandwiches and salads for lunches on a few days too when we stayed around the property. One of the few bed and breakfasts with a private beach. The only con is the amount of stairs at the property. We had an ocean view and our own private terrace for the most reasonable price we could find in Positano. This place is an absolute steal.”

Craft Coffee & Pastry Amsterdam
Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands
“100% gluten-free bakery in Amsterdam. You will likely have to wait in line but it is well worth it as you’ll have some of the best options in front of you. I had the chocolate croissant and apple pie croissant, which were gluten-free and dairy-free. They were SO good, huge, and impressive for those who weren’t gluten-free. Make sure you check their hours as they are only open a few days of the week, but this is a perfect spot for a morning pastry and coffee.”
