“Tufts has been so accommodating with handling food allergies in the dining hall and in other aspects on campus with Accessibility Services. There are 2 dining halls on campus, one is completely peanut, tree nut, and gluten-free, the other one has a top 9-free station with a separate dedicated kitchen. This has been so freeing and makes dining safely super easy. I am also a part of their Alternative Meal Plan which allows me to order meals to be made separately and with my allergies specified. I have worked with the dietitian on campus, Kelly Shaw who has been so wonderful with creating a meal plan that feels comfortable for my allergies and life as a student. Dining away from home was such a huge factor with moving away to college, but all of the dining staff at Tufts have been so accommodating with making sure that I can dine safely each day. In addition to all of that, their student accessibility office has been great with setting up accommodations and allowing me to have a single room with my own mini fridge and microwave. Such amazing protocols which make me feel extra safe!”

“I had a lovely meal here! The food is made to order for everybody so they were able to accommodate my allergies so well. Our server checked with the chef to double check things just in case as well. I ordered seared scallops with sautéed potatoes, mushrooms, and leeks. It was fantastic. Overall, I highly recommend if you have allergies or dietary restrictions, they were very flexible and kind. The inside of the restaurant is so cool—make sure to request the library room!!”

Amelia’s Trattoria
“The staff was so kind here about my allergies and even remembered them from when I booked the reservation and let them know. They went line by line of the menu to tell me which dishes were safe- and made all my food in the separate pan of course. Food was delish! I ordered seared salmon and veggies. Super simple but it was food done well and safe for me.”

Aquitaine
“They were lovely here with food allergies!! I ordered the cider braised short rib with roasted vegetables. It was a type of dish that came out from the kitchen, and I couldn’t believe that I was allowed to eat it, that’s always a nice little pinch me moment- especially when I ended up actually being safe and I had a safe experience! Our waiter was really nice about checking that the sauce did not have butter in it, and he subbed the cream sauce for extra vegetables so no downside! It was perfect for our little Galentine’s get together last night and I would go back again for sure. I don’t find allergy safe French food often.”

Banners Kitchen & Tap
“Enjoyed a great meal here- the staff was so kind about allergies and our server even mentioned having a friend with allergies which made me know that she understood. They were able to modify a dish on the menu to be safe, instead of piecing together a dish, like I usually. It’s a great sports bar sort of vibe of restaurant!”

Barcelona Wine Bar
“Had the best experience here!!! I have never had tapas before so safe to say I’m now a fan!! I’ve only really seen this in the UK, but the first thing the waiter asked was if anybody had food allergies at the table. Then they marked off the menu and crossed out things that I was allergic to. To my surprise, I could eat most things on the menu!! I ordered the gambas al ajillo, patatas bravas, and roasted carrots with a glass of white wine. Such an amazing meal and I was so pleased with how careful they were with allergies.”

Cactus Club Cafe
“I absolutely loved this restaurant and had the best experience with find allergy safe food. We sat at the bar, and even the bartender was so keyed in to making sure that my drink was made with sanitized equipment. When I put in my food order, they went to check with a manager and the chef to make sure that the dish was safe for me and pulled out the allergy list on their iPad to double check too. I ordered chipotle chicken tacos, and they made sure to make it free of cross-contamination which I really appreciated. I’ve never experienced bar staff be so well aware about accommodating all allergies, so this was an awesome experience. I cannot wait to visit again.”

Clarke’s Cakes & Cookies
“Bought hot chocolate at their Snowport stand in Boston and absolutely loved it!! It was my first time ever having hot chocolate that I didn’t make at home and it was such an exciting experience. It’s oat milk based and vegan and the people who worked there let me read the ingredients and double check everything.”

Earls Kitchen + Bar
“Waitstaff was so great with double checking that dishes would be safe for me. They also have an allergy menu online. Totally recommend!”

Fioritaly Trattoria
“Such a great experience! Food was amazing and they were so kind about my food allergies. They wrote them down before seating us and still went over everything before placing our order. I ordered the salmon with grilled vegetables. Definitely recommend!”

Fox & The Knife
“I had a mixed experience here but did have a safe meal. I ordered the scallops with tomato broth. It was delicious. The waiter started by giving me a marked up menu but most of the dishes were cross-contaminated with my allergens so I was left with a limited selection, that was okay though. I told them not to include a part of the dish that they had mentioned might include cross-contamination and ingredients that were prepared at a bakery different from the restaurant. They still served me the dish with the component I was not comfortable with, despite me having mentioned it. The manager noticed and was so kind and offered to remake the dish because she wanted me to have a positive and safe experience. She could not have been nicer about it, assuring me that it was their mistake and she wanted to make sure it was done right. The remade version was delicious and I’m so glad that they were able to make it a better experience. I should know by now that it’s okay to ask to have something remade, but it’s a hard ask at some spots. I’m glad this ended up being a good experience though. That’s why I always recommend talking with managers beforehand, this time I did not and I saw the difference in caution with my allergies.”

Grill 23 & Bar
“We had a fantastic dinner here! The staff was very knowledgeable about food allergies and made us feel so safe. I ordered shrimp cocktail, halibut, hash browns, and asparagus too. Such a special spot with great attention to detail.”

Harvard Gardens
“They were so great with allergies here! I asked about the ingredients in the salad dressing for the salad that I ordered, and they even called the company to double check that it was safe. The staff was so kind about everything.”

La Padrona Boston
“I think this is one of my favorite restaurant experiences to date. The staff was so kind about my food allergies, and they even asked about allergies before I could mention it, which doesn’t usually happen. I saw that the flatbread on the menu was dairy-free and nut-free and she told me that they could make it completely safe with no cross-contamination and I was so excited because I’ve never tried a flatbread before. I ordered that plus this halibut dish and it came with a nut-free pesto, which I didn’t know places could make. They told me that the kitchen is peanut-free and that they would make everything especially free from cross-contamination and any of my allergens. They never once were annoyed for me asking another question, it was always so kind on their end and it made the experience so wonderful. We were celebrating my friend’s graduation so they knew it was a special occasion and they brought out safe dessert! They had an allergy safe pear sorbet it was amazing and it was just so nice to feel so comfortable allergy wise. The restaurant is also gorgeous and a must-visit spot!!!!”

La Summa
“Staff is lovely and so kind about allergies! Our waiter checked with the kitchen to make sure things could be made safely. I ordered haddock with red sauce and potatoes- delish! Such a lovely spot in the North End.”

Little Sage
“They were great with allergies here and I was pleasantly surprised because Italian food is usually harder to navigate with my dairy and egg allergies. I ordered the baked chicken and potato dish and they made the sage sauce with olive oil instead of butter to accommodate. The staff members were so kind about the allergies and making sure there was no cross-contamination with my food. It was delicious and such a lovely spot in the North End.”

PopUp Bagels
“Amazing spot!! All dairy, egg, nut-free bagels. I hadn’t had a fresh bagel since I was younger so this was so exciting to try. The staff was so nice about explaining the ingredients and prep of things but none of my allergens are around except the separate cream cheese which is ok. A must try for sure!”

Snowport Holiday Market Presented by Constant Contact
“Bought hot chocolate at Clarke’s Cakes and Cookies stand (all vegan deliciousness) and absolutely loved it!! It was my first time ever having hot chocolate that I didn’t make at home and it was such an exciting experience. “Had a great dinner here! The staff were so kind with answering my questions and making sure food was prepared safely for me. I mentioned my allergies and she asked me to list them again and whether I was ok with cross-contamination or not so they could make things in a clean pan. This was music to my ears and ended up being great. I can’t wait to try more of their menu!”

Toscano Harvard Square
