CALIFORNIA

Petrini’s Restaurant
Location: San Diego, California
““Awesomely good” as stated by our 6 year-old. In talking with manager in advance and upon arrival, learned they could prepare not only safe pizza but also pastas (dedicated gluten-free pots/pans/utensils) and at least 2 sauces, if not 3. Had gluten-free bread but because of her egg allergy, it wasn’t an option for her. Being 6, she selected pizza and loved every bite! I tasted it and it was delicious! So were the meals ordered by the other 4 individuals with us! A smaller restaurant, not busy on a weeknight. A great find!”

Double Zero
Location: Los Angeles, California
“Double Zero is a quaint vegan pizzeria in Los Angeles. They have the best gluten-free pizza crust that is crispy, chewy, and fluffy. You really can’t tell it’s gluten-free. This restaurant is great if you have a dairy or egg allergy because it is vegan. However, I would be careful if you have a nut allergy because a lot of the vegan cheeses are nut based. They have a rice-based cheese. My favorite is the truffle pizza that has cashew cream, wild mushrooms, Tuscan kale, and a lemon vinaigrette. The only downside is that it’s on the pricier side (about $21 + tax for a gluten-free pizza), but sadly that’s a fairly normal price for allergy-friendly food in LA.”

We wanted to get Sammy some veggies this day and with so many menu options not working, our server brought her a huge tray of sliced cucumbers and cherry tomatoes. That paired nicely with her cheese pizza.”

“We ate pizza without getting hives! I went in prior to the dinner rush to review all the ingredients in what my son would order. The staff was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Piece Brewery
Location: Chicago, Illinois
“I have dined and ordered delivery. Each time I make them aware of my allergies, whether on phone or to waitstaff. They don’t use soy or vegetable blend oil on pizzas, which is hard to find these days, especially in the states. One time, I ordered for delivery and they used a utensil to cut the pizza, so it was remade. So far, each time has been a positive experience. I only have ordered cheese pizzas with variations on their sauce options.”

The server changed gloves and checked the allergen menu for us. There’s clearly a protocol in place for dealing with allergies. Would definitely go back!”

They keep the soy “meat” toppings very carefully contained and are very aware of keeping ingredients separate from each other.
