Contramar

“A great seafood restaurant with tons of energy! The food was outstanding. A bit tough to communicate because it’s really loud. But the food was amazing and safe. Food allergies had sopes and tostados. Gluten-free had ensalada verde (so good) and sopes. If you like seafood, go here (there isn’t much on the menu that isn’t fish or shellfish).”

Loma Linda Reforma

“Update: love this place.

Ask for the corn tortillas to be separated from the flour tortillas; they were originally all put in the same tortilla warmer together – their queso fundido and guac are amazing. For our main course, we had grilled meats and veggies on little hibachis at the table. Fantastic meal. Note: Tree nuts are fairly prevalent at the restaurant, and I did not have my tree nut allergy child with me.”

“A delicious and beautiful spot for tacos in the lovely Poblanco. Tons of the menu items are naturally gluten-free, and the waiters are pretty knowledgeable about ingredients. It is also in a very walkable area, so it is the perfect stop during an afternoon out.”

Restaurante Rosetta

“Such a stunning location and vibe. Book this early, it’s hard to get in! The restaurant WhatsApp’d us the day before to confirm and ask if we had food allergies. We let them know that we had peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, and gluten (traveling with a friend). Our server showed up at our table and wanted to know (in English) who had allergies and listed out the ones we stated in the WhatsApp amazing communication. He was super helpful, steering us in the right direction. Food allergies had tagliatelle, and gluten-free had mushroom risotto. As an app the brought out Oaxaca and butter and brought out gluten-free bread. You have to go here, it’s such a great spot.”

Porfirio’s Masaryk | Restaurante de comida mexicana

“Update: amazing!

Was able to eat a ton of different things here, specifically asked for corn tortillas. They have guacamole with grasshoppers sprinkled on top! Crazy electric atmosphere and tons of fun. They do have a lot of things with nuts – did not take my tree nut food allergy child here.”

La 89

“This casual spot earned a Michelin rec for its asada and birria. Huge hit for my family of four! One of our favorite meals.

You can find the menu online. It’s really simple! Choose your meat and how you want it: as a taco, torta, etc.

My gluten-free partner and nut-allergic kids ordered asada and birria tacos on corn tortillas. I ordered lengua and asada tacos. We all shared a bowl of beans. Kids had passionfruit juice and mango Boing.

We checked with the server beforehand about whether there were nuts in anything we ordered. The server was knowledgeable and spoke English fluently. She confirmed we were good, and we proceeded to have a fantastic meal.”
