The Ivy Dublin

“I absolutely adored this meal. I took myself out of my comfort zone and ordered something that was flagged as ‘free from all my allergens’ on their website’s allergy menu. The dish was a sweet potato coconut curry with jasmine rice. It was so new and different for me but the staff made me feel so comfortable with still double checking ingredients even though the website had listed them. So exciting! I have been to other Ivy locations in London and Edinburgh so this is continually a chain that I love dining at. It’s a beautiful spot as well!!”

Hanley’s Cornish Pasties

“Went to Hanley’s because I saw it on here! Allergen menu was up to date and posted at the front of the shop! I got the Dubliner (beef, potato, cheese) and it was delicious.

Only tip is if you are looking ahead at the menu to have a couple back up as they do sell out”

Milano – Blanchardstown

“I saw this recommendation on Spokin and decided to try it out. I am so happy I came across this recommendation as it was the best dairy-free cheese I have ever had!! I am really picky when it comes to dairy-free cheese but this was amazing. They have multiple vegan options and you can get a full vegan menu upon request. A very allergy friendly place and they have multiple locations in Dublin also!”

Bunsen Temple Bar

“Great food. This is a fairly popular chain across Ireland and they do not use any nuts or nut based oils in any of the restaurants. Waiters are well educated and able to answer any questions.”

Merchant’s Arch

“Incredibly friendly and accommodating staff. The kids (with allergies) all ordered virgin daiquiris and our waitress even double checked that the blenders were safe. Tons of food options and like most restaurants in Ireland, there is an allergen key at the bottom of each menu. We also noted allergy on order as well to prevent cross-contamination.”

WILDE Restaurant

“While on vacation we found Wilde and received thorough attention by many of the wait staff and chefs. My son, who eats Top 9 free, was catered to on many levels. The menu was clearly marked with allergens per entree, but the chef made a special meal to meet our sons needs. Simple sautéed chicken, fresh sautéed potatoes and carrots. It was a special meal for our whole family. A gorgeous location too!”

La Caverna Restaurant and Wine Bar

“A cute Italian spot in Dublin! They had a completely separate vegan menu and a regular menu. All allergens were listed on the menu, and the waiter made a note of my allergies. I had the penne arrabbiata, the Italian meat sampler and the bruschetta starter.”

WOWBURGER Temple Bar

“Clear allergy menu available at the counter. We ordered fries as a snack and they let us look at the ketchup bottle to confirm it was free from our allergens. The vegan burger bun + a hamburger would also work for us!”

Póg Bachelors Walk

“Really great brunch spot! Well-labeled menu for allergens and the waitress told the chef about my allergy. Was safe and enjoyed some great breakfast food!”

The Church Café Bar

“A fun spot with live music and Irish dancing. It’s an old church that has been converted to a restaurant so it’s gorgeous here! The menu listed out all major allergens and they had a separate coeliac menu. I had the grilled corn fed Irish chicken supreme.”

Crabby Jo’s – Wrights of Howth

“Although this menu did have something with walnuts, I stuck with something simple and got fish & chips. The waiter wrote down my allergy for the kitchen and I felt super comfortable eating here. Very yummy fish and chips!!”

Gallaghers Boxty House

“The menu at this place is well labeled for allergens and I emailed to ask what kind of oil they fry in and got a swift response that they only use sunflower oil!

Food was good and the kids had sausage, mash, and a burger with no issue.”

@lattelauren, who manages peanut and tree nut allergies

The Brazen Head

“Only a few items in the dessert menu listed peanuts as an allergen and the staff assured me this was due to potential for cross-contact since it was from another location. There were no peanuts in the kitchen.”

@katietravels, who manages peanut and tree nut allergies

Café en Seine

“Beautiful restaurant with clear allergen guide. I informed restaurant of allergy on my booking. The main menu didn’t contain any nuts that we had to avoid – only pine nuts, hazelnuts and almonds. One appetizer (the wings) said it had peanuts, but it wasn’t listed as an ingredient, so not sure if it was a typo or just a cross-contamination issue. We didn’t order it, so I’m not sure. One dessert had a pecan topping, but again, we didn’t order dessert. Waitstaff was great at noting allergy and food was great too!”

Lemon Jelly Cafe

“Our server was super helpful and was able to indicate which items were gluten free! She asked if it was celiac and when I said yes she made sure to tell the kitchen to clean everything!”

1900

“We stopped in to this restaurant for lunch and were pleased with the wait staffs willingness to speak with the chef about preparing a meal for our daughter. For lunch today she had plain chicken wings with a side of honey, guacamole, and sweet potato fries.”

Fade Street Social Restaurant & Cocktail Bar

“Although the communication was a little trickier at this restaurant, the manager came by to ensure what I communicated with the waiter was communicated correctly with the kitchen. Everything on the menu was labeled for allergens, which kept me at ease with what I was ordering.”

@daphlevy, who manages tree nut allergies

Shoe Lane Coffee, Dun Laoghaire

“Great place for coffee and pastries, helpful staff.”

@rocio, who manages shellfish allergies

Dunne and Crescenzi

“Gluten-free pasta and bread. Helpful waitstaff.”

@lrny, who manages grain allergies

Beshoff Bros Howth

“Beshoff’s is amazing for allergies. Very clear labelling noting possible cross contamination. And very reliable even across different outlets in Dublin. Egg and dairy-free batter with gluten-free also available. And the fish and chips in Howth are absolutely delicious.”

@jjjjj, who manages vegetable, chicken, and legume allergies

Isabelle’s Restaurant

“Amazing spot for brunch!! Everything on the menu was well-labeled with all allergens, and the waiter said he would tell the chef about my allergy when I told him.”

@elliegust, who manages a peanut allergy

Cloud Nine Temple Bar

“They were able to use clean equipment and a fresh tub of sorbet to avoid cross contact!”

@theallergicgirl, who manages peanut, tree nut, fish, shellfish, fruit, vegetable, chocolate, seed, and legume allergies

Madame Pho, Thomas Street

“I tried pho for the first time here! There are a lot of allergens listed on the menu, but the waiter was really helpful in explaining which dishes contained which allergens and which were just at risk of cross-contact.”

@tara1817, who manages a peanut allergy

The Lincoln’s Inn

“There are some nuts on the menu but I have always been fine. I typically would get the fish & chips. Just double check with your server, they’re all very knowledgeable.”

@lexiry, who manages tree nut allergies

The Hairy Lemon

“I LOVE the Hairy Lemon. The servers are very helpful and make you feel safe eating there. It can be a bit hectic if there is a GAA or big football match so the environment can feel a little crazy but fun. It’s a really classic pub and have never had a bad experience here! Labeled with numbers to dictate allergens in each dish.”
