Yama Sushi House – Phoenix

Location: Phoenix, Arizona

“We have dined here on several occasions and although we always make them aware of the allergy, they always say there aren’t any nuts and ask if sesame is okay. I’ve never seen any nuts on the menu. Our peanut and tree nut daughter usually orders the chicken teriyaki and we stick to sushi. Reliable and nut-free!”

China Pasta House

“Delicious food and great price! The staff is very understanding and is family run, so it just feels like I’m eating food that has been made with care and love. The staff is helpful with ingredients and dishes and their menu lays out most ingredients in their dishes as well. Only thing to watch out for is that there is a slight language barrier with certain things (it helps that I speak some Mandarin), but others in the restaurant are very helpful and can assist you in translating :)”

“Their unlimited sushi deal is unbeatable. The menu is clear and (most) rolls list what is included inside. There is also the option to get dumplings which are dairy free. Sushi Garden uses vegetable oil to fry in. The tempura mix is also DF and NF. This is a staple for my friends and I!”

Toss Noodle Bar

Location: Berkeley, California

“This place is WONDERFUL. You choose your noodle, meat and your style and they give you an amazing stir fry that is super delicious and all around amazing. I would always have the flat rice noodles, the Chinese wok-toss, and chicken. They were always able to make sure it was safe for my nut allergy and I ate there safely many times. They do have a good amount of nuts on the menu though (satay, Thai-wok toss and curry), and shellfish too, so I was always wary and had fairly detailed allergy conversations while ordering.”

Nami

Location: Fresno, California

“Great Japanese restaurant! At the bottom of each page of the menu, there is a line saying something to the effect of “please let your server know of any food allergies.” After informing our server of the nut allergy, she said there are no nuts in the whole kitchen and I didn’t see any on the menu prior to asking. Nut-free and easy!”

“I’ve had this poke multiple times and always been safe! The owner is often there, and he always reassures me they do not use peanuts. There are macadamia nuts that can be added at the end. Monster Phở

Location: Oakland, California

“This Vietnamese restaurant is 100% peanut free! My boyfriend’s favorite food is Vietnamese, and because of my severe peanut allergy, we have not been able to enjoy it together. However, at Monster Pho, I can order anything on the menu, and my boyfriend gets to eat the food he loves! It was such a cool experience for me being able to try dishes I had only heard about and never gotten the chance to taste before because of cross contamination. We shared a beef pho bowl, a shrimp vermicelli bowl, and spring rolls, and they were all delicious! Even the sauces are safe! They use a mix of coconut and hoisin to recreate the traditional “peanut” dipping sauce. Such an amazing place with delicious food and friendly staff! I didn’t see any tree nuts on the menu besides coconut, but they were extremely knowledgable about allergies, so just check in with the staff if you have other allergies besides peanuts. Would highly recommend to anyone with peanut allergies who has been deprived of authentic Asian food.”

Miyabiya Sushi & Grill

Location: San Francisco, California

“I’ve had a lot of sushi lately lol. Had an avocado roll and a spicy tuna roll! The waitress was also allergic to shellfish (we had a conversation about it). She didn’t write it on my ticket but I’m assuming she let the chef know (and I was safe).”

Moshi Moshi

Location: San Francisco, California

“Had a tuna roll and an avocado roll! Both were tasty and I loved the atmosphere. On top of being a fun restaurant, the menu is extremely clear! I was super impressed with how they listed roll ingredients, especially since they even included sesame oil (which you don’t often see). Made me more confident and relaxed since it seemed they definitely understood importance of ingredient transparency. One tiny issue— I thought I’d order a cucumber roll instead of an avocado roll, but I was very distracted while ordering so the order mess up may have been 100% my fault. Regardless, that would be the one thing to watch out for!”

Suzu

Location: San Francisco, California

“I had ramen here with friends before seeing Frozen 2 at the theatre in Japantown! It’s entirely a noodle/curry place and when I asked if there was any concern about shellfish the waitress was confused as to why that would be a concern and reassured me that there wasn’t (I’ve run into shellfish broth in other places lol). Anyway, I was safe and the food was really fast! Not the highest quality ramen ever, but such a convenient and safe spot. I don’t remember seeing nuts on the menu at all (but still avoided the curry per my usual precautions).

We were told which dishes to avoid but also that they would make sure that everything be made separately from the rest of the food in the kitchens. We ordered a second set of the lobster dim sum and they told us that it would take a little longer since they are decontaminating everything in the kitchen for our table. Not a problem whatsoever and I graciously thanked our server, Victor for being so proactive and stating everything in each dish for us throughout the night!”

Sunda

Location: Chicago, Illinois

“Update: we went back to Sunda a second time and again had an amazing experience! Original review: This place was amazing! Wow. This is an Asian restaurant, typically off limits for us but we saw a few reviews on Spokin and felt comfortable giving it a try. They encourage family style and we ordered a ton because we went for our daughter’s 16th birthday. The waiter emphasized how seriously they take food allergies and showed me a sheet that he carries with allergens noted by dish. He took so much care and time and the place was jammed and busy but he honestly made us feel like we were the only ones there. I’m sharing a somewhat embarrassing list of food that we tried in the event it is helpful to anyone else! They even made Pad Thai without peanuts for us (they said that the sauce had peanuts in it and that its not just a garnish. We ate: steamed buns (pork belly), shiitake edamame dumplings, Lumpia (egg rolls and we made sure no nuts were in the fryer and they confirmed there were none but said that is not always the case), miso cauliflower, lemongrass beef lollipops, crispy rice with spicy tuna + sushi: tail of two tunas, sunrise and rainbow roll. Our daughter also had a mango soda. We ordered A LOT because it all sounded so good, we couldn’t believe how careful they were, they even asked if cross contact was a problem (yes, for sure for us) and seemed so capable — and for us, Asian food pretty much is off limits and ironically is our daughter’s favorite… it was perfect and also a super high energy, swank and fun spot!”
