San Antonio Allergy-Friendly Travel Itinerary

sanantoniohero

Hi, y’all! I’m Jenna Urben, and I’m a 28 year old food blogger from Dallas, TX. In addition to being allergic to Penicillin, I developed an egg allergy in high school and lactose intolerance in college. Due to my food allergies and intolerances, I cut egg and dairy completely out of my lifestyle. A few times every year, I head down to San Antonio to spend time with my family. I love exploring the outdoor historical spots and discovering new bars and restaurants! Some of my favorite places from the trip were Pharm Table, a local restaurant featuring plant-forward and gluten-free organic options and Down on Grayson, a Modern-American restaurant with fresh and fun cocktails and mocktails. I recommend the Ranch Water or Virgin Lavender Lemonade. Browse all of my reviews on the Spokin app! My username is the same as my Instagram, @theurbenlife. You can also find my allergy-friendly recipes and travel guides on https://theurbenlife.com. Enjoy and let me know which spot is your favorite or on your must-visit list!

DAY 1

Travel: Southwest Airlines + San Antonio International Airport

I love flying Southwest, especially for quick trips! They offer pretzels and a snack mix, but I recommend bringing your own safe snacks. The San Antonio Airport is growing in dining and drinking options! Check out La Gloria, Merit Local Coffee, and Vino Volo – all in Terminal A.

Lunch: Green Vegetarian Cuisine

Multiple locations, and all are great! Vegan friendly and a must-stop for breakfast or lunch when I’m in town. Some items are gluten-free, but they do not have a dedicated GF area, as far as I know. The deluxe nachos are incredible! Also a big fan of their cupcakes. I always love the red velvet.

Dinner: Fralo’s

Outdoor dining or to-go! Big fan of the take & bake option to customize at home! Quinoa crusts and gluten-free crusts offered.

DAY 2

Breakfast: Merit Coffee Co.

Lots of location, consistent every time. I usually order a latte with either coconut milk or oat milk for an extra $0.75.

Dinner: Down on Grayson

Great indoor or outdoor dining options! Tasty appetizers, sandwiches, and entrees. Awesome spot for happy hour with lots of wine, beer, cocktail, and cocktails.

DAY 3

Brunch: Pharm Table

Amazing local, organic restaurant with plant-forward and gluten-free menu offerings. I love the summer pizza with GF quinoa crust, tomato cashew sauce, summer squash, hemp seeds, chili flakes, and fresh basil. The collard tacos are tasty too!

Treat: Lick Honest Ice Creams

Multiple locations! Delicious dairy-free options.

Dinner: Tre Trattoria

Chef Jason Daddy’s trendy Italian eatery at the San Antonio Museum of Art can’t be missed! Clearly marked menu with lots of vegetarian and gluten-free options.

DAY 4

Breakfast: Rosella

Delicious hot tea and fresh coffee with almond milk/oat milk options. Avocado toast is a must!
