Peanut Free Egg Free Seattle Itinerary

Untitleddesign 207

Hello everyone, I’m Natalie! I am a food allergy mom to our three year old daughter Penelope who is allergic to eggs and peanuts. My family and I live in Southern California, and we love traveling. We kicked off summer by taking a family trip to Seattle. This trip was so much fun and we enjoyed eating delicious food. If you are looking for fun things to do in Seattle with little ones, be sure to visit Pike Place Market, Space Needle, Woodland Park Zoo, Chihuly Glass and Garden, Seattle Aquarium, Fremont Troll, and Pier 57 to ride the Seattle Great Wheel. During our stay, we found some safe restaurants to dine at as well as great spots that were accommodating to our daughter’s food allergies. Our favorite spots were Von’s 1,000 Spirits, Beecher’s Handmade Cheese, Local Public Eatery, Hot Cakes Molten Chocolate Cakery, and Collection’s Cafe located at Chihuly Glass and Garden.

For our trip, I packed many of our favorite allergy-friendly snacks and products such as Birch Benders Pancake and Waffle Mix, YumEarth fruit snacks and lollipops, Partake Foods Crunchy Chocolate Chip Cookies, GoGo Squeez Yogurt Pouches, Wet Ones Wipes, disposable placemats, and our ParaMedic crossover body EpiPen Med Bag. On the Spokin App, I reviewed all the food spots and attractions from this trip as well as all the snacks and helpful products I brought with us to Seattle. DAY 1

Travel: Alaska Airlines + Seattle-Tacoma International Airport

Very clean airport and very convenient public transportation from airport to downtown Seattle. When waiting for our flight back home, I asked a restaurant for hot water for my daughter’s mac and cheese, and the staff were so helpful in giving me water and allowing me to prepare her meal on the side. Also, we were allowed to pre-board and staff were very nice!

I informed this airline about our daughter’s food allergies, and we were able to pre-board which allowed us to effectively wipe down our seats and trays. Airline also assured us that no peanuts were being served during this flight, and they also had safe snacks available. Had no issues traveling with Alaska airlines.

Hotel: Motif Seattle, A Destination by Hyatt Hotel

Such a lovely hotel to stay at when visiting Seattle. For one the rooms were really spacious, nice, and very clean. During your stay you get complimentary water bottles and you could get them restocked as long as you called the from desk. We absolutely loved the location of this hotel. It was walking distance to many attractions and food spots. Also, Target was one block over which was awesome as we were able to walk on over and buy snacks for our toddlers. We were able to request a microwave for our room, and this was so convenient because we were able to make meals for our toddlers in the room.

Dinner: Von’s 1,000 Spirits

The best sourdough pizzas and pasta you will ever have! LOVED that this restaurant offered an allergy-friendly menu which was so helpful! Even with the food allergy menu, our server still double checked that the food we ordered was free of my daughter’s allergens. Our daughter had the Nonna Maria, which is a cheese pizza and it was hands down one of my favorite cheese pizzas I have ever had. Also many of the pasta offered at this restaurant were egg free which was a huge plus!

Venue: Space Needle

Definitely a must see when visiting Seattle. There is a restaurant on the premises but didn’t get the chance to dine since we had eaten prior to arriving. We were allowed to bring in snacks which was perfect! Definitely enjoyed our time at the Space Needle.

Treat: YumEarth Organic Lollipops

The entire family LOVES these lollipops! They are the perfect size and are so tasty! Also, such a huge plus that there are no artificial dyes! These lollipops are an essential item in my toddler’s snack bag when we are out and about. They make the perfect treat when I need them to stay still like during road trips and airplane rides.

DAY 2

Venue: Pike Place Market

We visited Pike Place Market everyday during our stay in Seattle. It was only a 4 minute walk from our hotel. Such a fun place to be at in the mornings. We would start our days grabbing coffee and either pastries from different bakeries or grilled cheese sandwiches from Beecher’s. Many of the bakeries located here offered a variety of vegan baked goods. Also, to all my coffee lovers, when visiting Pike Place Market be sure to check out Ghost Allergy Espresso.

Lunch: Beecher’s Handmade Cheese

Love that the mac and cheese and grilled cheese sandwiches are both egg and peanut free! The mac and cheese is absolutely delicious and if you love grilled cheese sandwiches you must definitely get your hands on this one. Also, their website shows an ingredient list for each food item on the menu which was super helpful. If you are visiting Seattle be sure to stop and eat at Beecher’s!

Venue: Woodland Park Zoo

Hands down the best zoo I have ever visited! This zoo is beautiful, huge, clean, and fun! All the animal habitats are wonderful.

Dinner: MOD Pizza

The gluten-free crust is egg-free! Our daughter was able to safely eat a cheese pizza from here. We informed staff about our daughter’s food allergies, and they were great. They even used a new pizza slicer for her pizza. Also, this pizza spot was a 3 minute walk from our hotel which was super convenient. If you need quick and yummy personalized pizza, then definitely stop by!

DAY 3

Venue: Chihuly Garden & Glass

If you want to see amazing and beautiful glass art than you need to come here. We were allowed to bring in snacks which is a huge plus.

Lunch: Collection’s Cafe at Chihuly Garden & Glass

We informed the staff of our daughter’s food allergies, and they assured us that there were no peanuts in the facility and that the dough was egg free. The cheese pizza we ordered was delicious.

Dinner: Local Public Eatery

My daughter wanted chicken nuggets but we were informed that the nuggets did contain egg. So they offered to make grilled chicken for her in a separate prep area, and they uses a different fryer for her French fries. Very awesome staff and my daughter was able to safely enjoy dinner with the rest of us.

Treat: Hot Cakes

We had the vegan gooey brownie molten cake served with a side of vegan ice cream, and it was absolutely delicious. Also, the vegan vanilla shake is yummy. This bakery also offers vegan cookies which we wanted to try, but the staff highly recommended not to get cookies since the peanut butter cookies do share baking trays with the vegan cookies. The molten cakes were recommended since those cakes are prepped and baked in a different area. When we ordered, they made sure to inform staff of our daughter’s allergens, and she was able to safely enjoy a yummy vegan molten cake!

Venue: Seattle Great Wheel

It really is an amazing experience riding the Great Wheel! The views when you are on top are absolutely breathtaking. It’s definitely a must-do when visiting Seattle and your little ones will enjoy it!

DAY 4

Breakfast: Cinnamon Works

Awesome bakery located in Pike Place Market. This bakery has a huge variety of vegan and gluten-free cookies, muffins, quick breads, and cinnamon rolls. We got the vegan pumpkin muffin, and it was so good!

Venue: Seattle Aquarium

Perfect size aquarium. Not too big and not too small. You are able to bring in outside food and drinks which is a huge plus. We didn’t eat here since we had eaten prior to arriving, so I didn’t get the chance to see if there was a designated eating area. If you have little ones, be sure to bring them to the aquarium. They definitely will enjoy it!

Lunch: McDonald’s

The chicken nuggets and fries are safe for our daughter to eat. When on the road McDonald’s is one of our go-to spots. During our stay in Seattle, McDonald’s was a 3-minute walk from our hotel and was convenient when traveling with toddlers. We would just pick up the food and bring it back to the room.

Venue: Museum of Pop Culture

The museum staff was very accommodating in allowing us to bring in outside food and drinks due to our daughter’s food allergies even though it is not permitted. We were very appreciative that they were able to work with us. The museum has a cafe, and we were able to sit there when it was time for our daughter to eat her lunch. Such lovely staff!
