Peanut, Tree Nut, Pea, and Melon-Free Greece Top Picks

Hi! I’m Hannah and I recently traveled to Greece! I found many safe spots to eat while managing a peanut, tree nut, pea, and melon allergy and shared them on the Spokin app—they are also all featured in this guide. One of my favorites was Stavropoulos Meat & Grill in Nafplio, where I had the best chicken gyro! A fun thing to do if you are in Greece is hike to the top of the Acrocorinth fortress. The view is amazing! Follow me on Spokin @hannahsmelcer to see all of my allergy-friendly reviews and on Insta @breakingoutblog!

Stavropoulos Meat & Grill Nafplio

Location: Nafplio, Greece

“THE BEST GYRO! I will be dreaming about this one forever. No nuts on site, which is great! It was very busy when we went, but the staff were helpful!”

Ταβέρνα Ακρογιάλι

Location: Tolo, Greece

“This restaurant was amazing! It was right on the water and the food was delicious. The staff were so kind and helpful. Ate here multiple times!”

The Greco’s Project

“Had another good gyro here with tzatziki and pita bread! The waitstaff were knowledgeable and helpful. The restaurant is also conveniently placed in the square next to the metro.”

Xenious Zeus

Location: Athens, Greece

“Had a group meal here where I was served Veal and Greek salad! Food was good and waitstaff were diligent about checking ingredients.”

Suvla Athens

Location: Athens, Greece

“Second best Gyro I’ve had in Greece! I replaced the sauce with tzatziki. When ordering, the waiter took my translation card to the kitchen to ask about my order (chicken gyro wrapped). They told me they would ensure it was safe with changes to the seasoning. They have an “open kitchen”, so I watched them read every ingredient, wipe down everything, and then make my gyro. They were diligent and careful!”

Hotel Kronio

Location: Ancient Olympia, Greece

“The hotel staff were so wonderful! Since we were traveling with a group, they prepared a dinner for us and made a list of all of the ingredients used in each course! They did the same for breakfast.”

Rivero street food & cafe

Location: Lavrio, Greece

“Lots of good, and familiar, food options. The menu is in English as well, which helps determine what would possibly be safe or not.”

Epik Gelato

Location: Athens, Greece

“The gelato was delicious! They DO use the same scoop for all of the flavors, and wash it in a container in between each use. In the past, I would have stayed away, but since I am on Xolair now, I am less worried about cross contact. They did offer to deep wash the scoop before getting my ice cream as well. They have dairy-free options too!”

Athenais

Location: Athens, Greece

“Cannot recommend this hotel enough! Their breakfast was amazing and the waitstaff were very helpful in letting me know what was safe. It is served buffet style, but our group was always the first down so I did not worry about people mixing serving utensils.”
