Nut and Gluten-Free Amsterdam Top Picks

Hi! I’m Emma, and I recently traveled to The Netherlands! I found many safe spots to eat while managing a nut allergy and celiac disease and shared them on the Spokin app—all of my finds are also all featured in this guide. One of my favorites was Hanno – Groots Cafe, where I had pork tacos! A fun thing to do if you are in The Netherlands is Keukenhof which are the tulip fields. Craft Coffee & Pastry Amsterdam

Craft Coffee & Pastry Amsterdam

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands

“100% gluten-free and literally life-changing pastries. Croissants and bread are made in a different area where the only nuts are almonds, but the rest are exposed to other nuts. If you can go, it’s so amazing.”

De Japanner

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands

“Staff was beyond helpful as they were able to tell me quickly all of the dishes I could have that didn’t have cross-contamination issues. I got sushi and a beef dish (minus one sauce). I didn’t see any nuts.”

Fabel Friet Runstraat

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands

“Great spot for gluten-free fries! They have a fryer for fries and another one for non-gluten-free items, so no cross-contamination. I got fries with parmesan. All the sauces are safe-though there is a peanut sauce! Staff was very knowledgeable about ingredients.”

Jumbo

Jumbo

“They have a separate gluten-free section with amazing and cheap gluten-free stroopwafels! Lots of Schär products as well.”

Loulou Pizzabar

Loulou Pizzabar

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands

“Great gluten-free pizza that they make separately by cooking on a pan. Great options, and the crust is super good. Didn’t see many nuts either.”

PANCAKES Amsterdam Westermarkt

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands

“Ask for the gluten-free menu and they have gluten-free and oat-free batter to use that comes with a flag to show it is safe. Nuts are almonds, so not sure how safe since I am not allergic. Great options as you can basically have every topping except a few for gluten-free—I made my own!”

Restaurant Olijfje

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands

“Menu is marked with gluten-free options. They have a lot of kebabs and other items, as well as gluten-free bread for dips for an extra cost. They were careful with nuts as well. I avoided the desserts and some of the sauces to be extra careful.”

Tacos & Tequila

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands

“Lots of gluten-free options and the menu is labeled. I got great tacos with a side of guacamole. I didn’t see any nuts, but they seemed aware of allergies.”

HANNO - Groots café
