Nut-Free Mexico City Top Picks

Hi! I’m Lauren, and I recently traveled to Mexico City! I found safe spots to eat while managing peanut and tree nut allergies and shared them on the Spokin app—all of my Mexico City finds are also featured in this guide. One of my favorites was Botánico, where I had a ribeye burger! A few fun things to do in Mexico City are to visit Frida Kahlo’s house (Casa Azul), El Museo Nacional de Antropología (the Anthropology Museum), and walk around the neighborhood, Polanco. El Farolito Polanco

“Had some tacos and chicharrón de queso. Not the greatest tacos in the world, but filling for a quick meal. It’s a chain, so pretty consistent ingredient info across different locations in CDMX. Waiter said that they don’t handle peanuts or tree nuts at all, but they would still take note of my allergy.”

“Literally the best burger I’ve ever had. Told our waiter very early on about my allergy, and he made sure everything me and my friend ordered was nut-free so we could share. They definitely did have a lot of nuts on the menu. He was clear that they would do their best to prevent cross-contamination. Caesar salad was made in “lettuce boats”, which was an interesting take on Caesar salad but was still delicious!”

La Casa De Toño

“Had the pozole and it was incredible! No issues with nuts and peanuts, not sure if other menu items had nuts, but there were definitely no nuts in the pozole, and the staff was helpful with ingredients. It’s a chain, so you can find it around CDMX for a quick and yummy meal!”

“Didn’t eat a meal here, but they were super knowledgeable about cross-contact with their drinks (coffee grinds and drinks made in the blender). I’m sure they’d be knowledgeable about their food as well. They brought us safe popcorn instead of nuts to snack on because I noted a nut allergy early on. Definitely recommend because of the vibe and service!”

“Called a week beforehand, and they were so helpful with food options! I was told that their pizza options had pine nuts, so just for cross-contact reasons, not to try the pizza, but their pasta was perfectly fine. I tried their pasta pomodoro and it was amazing! Normally, I don’t like super simple pasta, but it was so flavorful for a pasta with just tomato sauce. Also amazing drinks!”

“Definitely many nuts in the ice cream, but there was an allergy menu posted on the wall, and the worker used a new scoop for me. It also seemed that all of their flavors with nuts were in a separate case, so I was not super worried about nuts mixing with the flavors next to them. Super cute spot in Polanco, very green area!”

Ostería del Becco

“I was told their only nuts were in their salads. Safely ate their focaccia, salad with asparagus, and orata all’ acqua pazza. Great drinks and great food!”
