BATH

The Bath Stable
Location: Bath, United Kingdom
“The Stable is a craft beer and cider pizza place. Inside was cosy and bright with lots of tables. When I first saw the outside, I was immediately intrigued. There are a lot of places in Bath that do pizza (The Dough is cited as being great for gluten-free pizzas). The manager knew the menu, he knew the kitchen, assuring me that a couple of dishes may contain nuts from the distributor, but it is a nut-free and shellfish-free kitchen! We also ordered the Mango cider and an Estrella Damm free beer.”

Hall & Woodhouse Bath
Location: Bath, United Kingdom
“Incredible scenes! This is a pub but looks like a gorgeous bar. Massive inside, multiple levels. I loved having a drink here and it’s not too far from the station. You will want to go here if you are having a day trip to Bath! Food is extensive but normal gastro pub, but I didn’t have a chance to eat or ask, had to get my train.”
BIRMINGHAM

The Birmingham Stable
Location: Birmingham, United Kingdom
“We had no idea where we were going to eat, and I just looked up restaurants, and the Stable popped up. I had lots of other great experiences at this chain, and this was no different. Great food and time was had.”

Sky Bar & Restaurant
Location: Birmingham, United Kingdom
“This was such a fun spot! Had them wash out the measurements for whiskey so it didn’t have cross-contact. Best view for the city. Great tunes and perfect place for photos!”
BLUNSDON SAINT ANDREW

The Blunsdon Arms
Location: Blunsdon Saint Andrew, United Kingdom
“I wasn’t expecting much, as usually I don’t eat out at pubs (I’ve worked in so many and the attitude is shocking), but I went to stay with a friend over the weekend and that’s where they like to eat brekkie. I told the manager about my allergies, and immediately she put me at ease. She went to get the allergen info and then took my allergen equal eats card to the chef. She said they handle allergies all the time and always clean everything. She said no to anything in the deep fryer, but will be able to wash a frying pan. I told her exactly what I wanted (very simple photo above) and she said that was no problem. I feel so confident in her, there was no umming or ahhhing, PLUS she told me that the allergen matrix was one used for lots of places—The Glass Onion—and I should download their app to help eat out in other places (chains). I felt so happy, confident, and safe and I actually ate breakfast.
Thank you, Abby! Abby was fantastic, and I felt taken care of for the whole duration of my stay.
A few things to note:
-I went early (almost at opening). Apparently it gets busy during the day
-I talked with a manager
-I asked for things that felt safe for me. I didn’t order anything off the menu.
-I brought my allergen card for easier communication.
She also asked me about butter & spices, down to salt. Very thorough.”
BRISTOL

The Bristol Stable
Location: Bristol, United Kingdom
“This is a similar review for all of the ones I went to, as it is SUPER consistent. I choose the same thing—margarita pizza and sharing portion of Mac & cheese. However, they have vegan & gluten-free options. (The gluten-free pizza is a pre-made base that they have in the freezer if you were worried about cross-contact. And they make it in a dedicated area). Love the cider too, perfect for gluten-free and vegan diners. The cider flight is one to get.
Bristol—they messed up my order, but they were so apologetic and so lovely! Definitely proactive staff. Would go back in a heartbeat—plus they were really busy but never made me feel a burden.”
CAMBRIDGE

Côte Brasserie – Cambridge
Location: Cambridge, United Kingdom
“I love Côte! Been going since I was 17! They are always so attentive. I talk to the manager every time, they run through everything. The menu is all the food I love. Some dishes contain or may contain my allergens but they know their ingredients and the chefs take care. My meals come out first and I have a starter, main and dessert. (Sometimes two mains and bread). Every time I go here I feel safe and taken care of, plus the food is incredible, which choices!”
CARDIFF

The Cardiff Stable
Location: Cardiff, United Kingdom
We went just when they opened, and so we were the only ones there. The staff completely understood my allergens, and the chef kept checking back. Outstanding service, and it felt great that we were the only people the chef was making food for.”
CHISWICK

Sainsbury’s
Location: Chiswick, United Kingdom
“This big Sainsbury’s has one of the best free-from aisles I have ever seen, plus another area has incredible allergy-friendly products. If you are ever near a big Sainsbury’s, go in!”
GALWAY
Elephant & Castle Galway
Location: Galway, Ireland
“Firstly, shoutout to Rylan! I came to this restaurant because of another positive review when I had a few places deny me. I went alone, not sure what I would find. I told the host that I had allergies, and they immediately gave me a menu that had an allergy key next to the dishes—this was not an allergy book (which can be so big), it was a regular menu with just a key. I then told the bartender I had questions and he brought over Rylan.
Rylan understood the assignment and gave me my first burger WITH the bun and fries. (I haven’t had fries from a restaurant in years!) Even with my questions, he was so sure because he had checked and the chef had checked all the ingredients with my Equal Eats card. Not only was he fantastic at his job, he was funny, put me at ease, and made my burger so simple without me asking. He said he hoped to see me again, so I went back the next day with friends. He did it again, he gave me double the portion of fries.
The minute I sat down, he asked for my card, and he knew what I wanted.
He also rinsed the shot glass out and prepared my whiskey himself so it would be safe for me.
I need to just say that when a server is good at their job and reassures you, we come back. Thank you, if I lived in Galway, I would be there daily.”

Kasbah Wine Bar
Location: Galway, Ireland
“I came here after dinner with A LOT of people. It was incredibly quaint and vibey! I had no plans to eat, and the menu was more French charcuterie. It looked beautiful for the people who ate. There were nuts on the menu and lots of bread.
The server was Max, and he was amazing at customer service. Even though I didn’t eat, he was so attentive to me and my needs. They gave me my own personal wine bottle (in a bucket next to me), and everyone was ordering bottles and serving themselves. They also brought me my own water vase. I bet if I did ask for food, they would have done everything they could! I also met an Irish actor here (one I have loved since I was 16 ), so it was a terrific evening!”

Prátaí
Location: Galway, Ireland
“This is a takeaway Chip shop. They only make chips (fries) here.
They are deep-fried in rapeseed oil. They put the chips in a big vat and sprinkle salt over them, then put them into a cone and you can add your flavouring.
There are nuts in the sauces and also other allergens, and I suggest you ask them to change/put on gloves so there’s no issue, and maybe go from the fryer to the cone! They have an allergen menu when you order, and they were very kind and accommodating, answering all of my questions. I don’t think they get a lot of people asking about allergies, but they were not fazed!”
Sophie’s Rooftop Galway
Location: Galway, Ireland
“This is the rooftop restaurant of the Dean Hotel (Elephant & Castle is downstairs, and I loved that place too).
When I made my reservation, they put my allergy and my allergy card on the booking, so when I got there I was immediately handed an allergy menu with an allergy key!
Our waiter was new and did not reassure me the way expected. I don’t think she quite knew what she was doing, but I then basically asked her to check EVERYTHING. I told her that the pesto pizza didn’t have any allergens listed, but I’m allergic to pine nuts. The chef proceeded to check everything on my pizza with my Equal Eats card (apparently, there are no pine nuts or nuts in their pesto—I still don’t quite believe her). They have a pizza chef and a wood fire oven so only one person was looking after my meal! Yay. Overall, we had an amazing time on the balcony with lovely views and sun, the food was yummy, but there was a little bit ‘off’ about the whole thing (my mum’s meal was strange, like they didn’t chop anything and her sourdough toast was just bread toasted and butter…) but I would go again.”

The Galmont Hotel & Spa
Location: Galway, Ireland
“I had a hot & cold experience at this hotel. Firstly, the rooms were lovely. We had a small fridge in the room, which we stocked with some nibbles in there. We had breakfast included—it is a buffet style of hot and cold foods. They had dairy-free milks, gluten-free breads & muffins(not amazing products, but had options). I asked the manager if they could prepare hard-boiled eggs and smoked salmon for me. Which they did (and used my equal eats card). It was a simple breakfast, but I ate it for 3 days, and it set me off for the day. However, when I enquired about nightly room service, I was met with frustration and ignorance. I would say, don’t have room service. The spa is lovely, quite basic, but having a jacuzzi outside in the sun was wonderful. I would say, know what you want, and request it. I had a lovely time here and the breakfast staff were amazing.”
LONDON

Chipotle Mexican Grill
Location: London, United Kingdom
“I have been eating at Chipotle for 11 years. And if you are an allergy person, I’m sure it’s one of your faves. There are a few in London, but some are so busy that I don’t like going to them. But this one is recent, and they were so lovely. The minute I asked for them to change gloves, it was sure, and they did my whole order. The staff were laughing, and they were enjoying being there. It wasn’t busy (we went around 5 pm) and it felt super relaxed. It’s one I would definitely go back to. Plus, having Chipotle’s menu online is so helpful, and that they don’t use nuts, sesame, or shellfish takes a load off for me.”

Côte Ealing
Location: London, United Kingdom
“I have been going to this Côte for around 7 years! Every time I go, the attention and dedication I get from the staff is unmatched. I write to them when I book, detailing my allergies and what I would like to eat. My server is always a manager if I do that, and it eliminates me having to ask for a manager in the moment.
I go for date nights, breakfast, and all my events. My recent attentive manager was Neeza, and she was stunning—kept telling me ‘we will take care of you’, and they did.
Côte has a new allergy tablet, which details the potential risk, etc. But the best feature is that under every dish, not only do they tell you the top 14 allergens, but they detail every ingredient of the dish, down to the salt and pepper! This is a fantastic feature, especially if you are like me and have a lot of allergens on the top list! I can make sure there are no peas or chickpeas in every dish. Côte is the one for allergies.”

Côte Marylebone
Location: London, United Kingdom
“I came here with my family and a baby. We booked a table 30 mins before arriving, and they were still amazing with my allergies.
They gave me their allergen menu that is INCREDIBLE. Not only the top 14 allergens, but they detail every ingredient in the dish down to the salt and pepper. They took such great care of us as usual. I have been eating at Côte for 15 years. I’ve been to locations all around Britain and I have never had a bad experience.”

Crate Brewery & Pizzeria
Location: London, United Kingdom
“I was out at another brewery around the corner, but all that was there for food was street food from vans. But I found Crate, and they only do pizza. I went in to ask them, no expectations. I saw what I wanted online. I asked for the manager first and had a private discussion with her, then gave her my Equal Eats card to converse with chefs. Thankfully, she came out and said it was okay. I shared 2 pizzas (truffle & potato and Margherita), they were so good!
The drinks were yum! I had a rhubarb cider. It was so lovely to share with my boyfriend as they made both pizzas for my allergens.
This is the only time I have been here, and I don’t know when I would go back, but at least there is somewhere safe in East London! They can make a vegan option for 2 of the pizzas, and there’s only walnuts and pine nuts on the menu.”

Hawksmoor Air Street
Location: London, United Kingdom
“This company goes above and beyond in educating their staff. They have brought in a real allergy reactor to share his thoughts on allergies in restaurants. The waiters are thoughtful and proactive. I love coming here, the prices are steep, but if you are traveling or have a function/celebration, this is your spot (or if you have money). From the starter, wine, and main—this brings you everything. There are other locations too!”

Hawksmoor Wood Wharf
Location: London, United Kingdom
“I went there for my birthday lunch. I got the same meal I always get at the other locations—potted beef & Yorkshire puddings (this contains anchovies) and rump steak with grilled sweet potato. I asked not to have dessert, but since it was my birthday, the waitress came out with a sticky toffee pudding and clotted cream ice cream. I was so nervous, but she showed me all the ingredients and the recipe and said she checked it, and they make it in-house!
I had it and it was so delicious (there is only one dessert that has nuts on the menu—the peanut butter one, other than that they are nut-free, she said). Now I know I can have that dessert, and she made my birthday experience one to remember.”

Shake Shack Tottenham Court Road
Location: London, United Kingdom
“I have been eating at Shake Shack for years. It is my go-to when I am on a night out, when my friends want greasy food.
The buns and fries are now ‘may contain sesame,’ which is a shame, but in other countries they aren’t, so please check.
They are very clear about asking about your allergens before you pay. Then a manager will come over as well.
The burger patties are unbelievably good!”

Sophie’s Chelsea
Location: London, United Kingdom
“Whether I want a glass of Prosecco or a Chateu briand, Sophie’s is the place to go. From the service to the food to the vibe, I love this place. They are very helpful, with clear protocols, and the food is delicious. Sophie’s is a bit pricey, but definitely somewhere to go for a classier London vibe.”

The Wigmore
Location: London, United Kingdom
“This is the bar section. I love this place for a drink. It’s classy but no dress code. You can watch sports games, but it’s very upscale. HOWEVER, they serve bowls of nuts regularly, so please be careful. Drinks are yummy, and coffee is so good. Ask the waiter to wash their hands before pouring a drink.”

Wildwood
Location: London, United Kingdom
“I go here with my boyfriend. There are things on the menu that I can’t have, but the staff is always very accommodating; they take my allergy card to the chef, and they are always empathetic. We talk to the manager on duty every time. We go for the pizzas. In most restaurants, they are doing such fancy pizzas with a lot of my allergens, but Wildwood knows, if it ain’t broke…I have the margarita pizza, and it is incredible every time. I dream of the crust. We go back once a month, and I love it.”

Marks and Spencer
Location: London, United Kingdom
“This is my go-to place for food on the go. They have clear labelling, and a made without sections for sandwiches. The only place I get bread. I love this shop. BE AWARE of pea protein/broad bean in random products.”

Byron Hamburgers
Location: London, United Kingdom
“This restaurant has learned about allergy instances in the past and now champions us with Allergy advocates. The buns are sesame-free (but may contain). I am able to eat a lot of the menu. If you are allergic to pea protein or lentils, please tell them to separate your patties from the vegan ones. It is a great evening out.”

The Churchill Arms, Kensington
Location: London, United Kingdom
“Whether you’re coming in the summer or winter, this is the pub you want to see, even if you can’t get in (it’s so busy and small inside). Outside, it’s full of flowers and vines in the summer and winter/Christmas lights in the winter! You will want to come here even just for the photos.”

Portobello Road Market
Location: London, United Kingdom
“It’s not what it looks like in Notting Hill, but to go there is something you don’t want to miss. This is a local market that has always kept the charm even when the prices went up. Miss out the permanent shops and head to the stalls.”

Brick Lane

“It’s not what it looks like in Notting Hill, but to go there is something you don’t want to miss. This is a local market that has always kept the charm even when the prices went up. Miss out the permanent shops and head to the stalls.”
