Location: Bath, United Kingdom
“I had the steak pie and an ale. I queried the staff on the way in and they let me know that they could not guarantee that my food did not contain allergens. Despite this, they said that there was a key on the menu for items that included nuts and they would let the kitchen know. I have been here twice and have had similar experiences. Unfortunately, if you want a traditional high tea, you might get could out by the sweet treats that are prepared next to those which have allergens. Nevertheless, my partner and I could still dine together and soak in the atmosphere. This restaurant should make efforts in the future to have their menu be more clear, where some items that were part of the high tea did not contain nuts, but the same item individually did. If you are very allergic to nuts I would recommend avoiding this place, but otherwise the staff do try their best to make it accessible and as safe as possible.”

Best Western Premier Heronston Hotel & Spa
Location: Bridgend, United Kingdom
“Yesterday I had a festive afternoon tea with my family. I informed the staff that I had a nut/peanut allergy and they reassured me that there were no nuts in any of the foods that were included in the afternoon tea which was refreshing to hear for once. The waiter was also very friendly and helpful. The afternoon tea was lovely and I particularly loved their chocolate scones (which I’ve never had before).”

“I attended a fully gluten-free high tea here in 2017. I have been to quite a few high teas and this was my absolute favorite. Such a beautiful place and they were proactive about my gluten allergy.”

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Afternoon Tea
Location: London, United Kingdom
“This is one of my favorite afternoon tea services in London. Not only is there a gluten-free menu and full tea service (as well as vegetarian and vegan sets), the quality of everything you get is very high. My benchmark of gluten-free tea is a good scone and these guys nail it. The tartlets are excellent too—come hungry, as you can get seconds of sandwiches and tartlets.
The theme is really fun, too. It’s extremely kid friendly, too (and friendly to kids at heart). Cotton candy never ceases to put a smile on my face.
This hotel (One Aldwych) has a celiac UK-accredited restaurant called Indigo, though this tea parlour is unaffiliated with Indigo. That being said, everyone I interacted with claimed this tea parlour can cater to “all allergies” and seemed committed to delivering a true afternoon tea experience. “

“When I mentioned my allergy to the staff, they thanked me for letting them know and prepared me a separate plate without a crab sandwich and with an extra cucumber sandwich. The food was very good and it was fun to have tea and treats.”

The Drawing Room at Brown’s Hotel
Location: London, United Kingdom
“I had the most beautiful and delicious, completely gluten-free high tea at The Drawing Room at Brown’s Hotel in the Mayfair section of London on our recent visit. It was pure perfection! They separated my gluten-free from my husband’s non-gluten-free and it was such a special and yummy treat. Highly, highly recommend! 10/10!”

“Absolutely 10/10 high tea experience! All of my options were gluten-free. My tea was Bridgerton themed! I told the staff prior to my reservation that I required gluten-free. My friend ate vegan. We each received our own towers! They had separately labeled breads and jams for gluten-free guests. Everything was excellent!”

“We took our 4 & 7 year-old girls here for Afternoon Art Tea while staying at the Rosewood. The entire staff was extremely accommodating and considerate with our allergies (milk, egg + tree nuts). They reproduced the entire menu with safe ingredients for our girls… finger sandwiches and the fanciest plate of pastries they’ve ever seen. The pastry course came with frosting “paint” and sprinkles (all safe) for the girls to decorate the pastries. They also made the girls dairy-free hot chocolate in lieu of tea. This experience exceeded my expectations.”

The Ampersand Hotel
Location: London, United Kingdom
“The Ampersand Hotel offers one of the most impressive gluten-free afternoon tea experiences in London, especially if you’re looking for something family friendly.
I tried both their Science and Jurassic themed teas, and not only were they visually stunning, but every item was carefully adapted to be gluten-free without compromising on taste or creativity.
The staff were incredibly attentive and well-informed about allergens, and I felt confident in their knowledge. They double-checked everything, explained substitutions clearly, and were happy to accommodate any additional concerns.
This is a particularly great option for kids or families, as the themes are interactive and fun without feeling gimmicky. It still feels like a proper, high-end London afternoon tea, just with a more imaginative twist (and no strict dress code).”

Palm Court at The Langham
Location: London, United Kingdom
“We had afternoon tea and the kitchen prepared special breads (gluten- and egg-free), sandwiches, and a sundae that my son described as tasting “like happiness.” I would highly recommend tea at the Langham to anyone with food allergies. Communication from when I first tried to book the reservation through the end of tea was wonderful, supportive, and clear.”

“LOVELY! One of the first questions was if we had food allergies. Very impressed all around!
We just booked high tea for an upcoming trip at this supposedly must go to, Insta-worthy tea—which kind of made me not want to go and find something authentic, but I booked anyway haha. I’m not going with my allergy daughter but saw that you can select the following options when you make your reservation: Vegetarian, Vegan and Dairy-Free, Nut-Free, Gluten-Free and Pescatarian. WOW!”

The Goring Hotel
Location: London, United Kingdom
“Had a full blown formal Afternoon Tea at The Goring Hotel today! The staff was extremely proactive when we made a booking about allergen concerns and noted it as I sat down as well. I was presented with my own three level tray mirroring what the rest of my family was given. There was a wide variety of food that they accommodated to my allergy and provided information for all of it to make sure I felt secure in what I was eating. This was one of those meals that felt surreal it was so easy. Being one of the best tea houses in London, this service cost £70 per guest. But as an allergy girl, it was worth every cent!”
