Allergy-Friendly Campus Guide: College of William and Mary

As a sophomore at William and Mary, I have been pleased with the College’s allergy policy and protocol. Menus are clearly labeled and 2/3 of the dining halls on campus have allergy-friendly “Simple Servings” stations and are completely nut-free facilities. The school nutritionist is a fabulous resource and a wealth of information. There is always room to grow, but I feel safe eating on campus with a food allergy.

Mary Beth’s William and Mary Campus Guide

Aromas Coffeehouse Bakery & Cafe

Aromas always offers gluten-free bread options for their sandwiches, which really expands the number of options for gluten-free customers. I always inform the cashier of my allergies prior to ordering and the staff is understanding, diligent, and helpful.

Sadler Center

Sadler is a nut-free facility and dining hall on William & Mary’s campus. Within the dining hall, there is a “Simple Servings” station that is free from the top 8 allergens. They even require clean plates and to-go boxes in order to receive food from the station in an effort to eliminate cross-contamination concerns.

Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers

Mellow Mushroom’s gluten-free pizza is amazing! Their pesto is pine nut-based, but tree nuts do not appear in any other menu item. Let the staff know about your allergy- they are incredibly helpful and take allergies seriously!
