All of the Vanderbilt dining halls are completely nut-free. There are a few cafès on campus that do have nuts, but they are very aware of allergies. If you have a limited option of foods, Vanderbilt provides a service on their dining app in which you can order almost any food ahead of time and have it ready for you when you arrive in the dining hall. They make the food especially for you to fit your needs.

THE BEST SALADS. So many topping options!! I think the only nuts that they have are almonds but they are really good about keeping everything separate. Think I come here at least twice a week its SO GOOD.

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams

Amazing ice cream. But the best part is that they will open a brand new tub of ice cream from the back for people with allergies (& use clean scooper ofc). Highly recommend!!

Chipotle Mexican Grill

Basic, I know. But super close to campus, fast, nut free & delicious.

Frothy Monkey

Such a fun little coffee shop and very good with allergies! They have really fun seasonal drinks too!

White Limozeen

This place is AWESOME! All Dolly Parton themed and one of the coolest rooftops ever! They brought me separate bread because they weren’t sure whether or not other bread had nuts in/ near it. Very accommodating. Super hard to get a reservation so book in advance. If you are ever in Nashville, this is a MUST (even if it’s just for drinks and not a meal).

Samurai Sushi

I am pretty hesitant about sushi in Nashville but this place was delicious!

This place is awesome! The waiter was super knowledgeable about what items on the menu had nuts and the food and drinks were great!

The Baked Bear

WOW. Make your own ice cream sandwiches. They have nuts there, so take caution when ordering. The employees change their gloves and got me everything from the back. Ice cream sandwich was DELISH!!

Chopt Creative Salad Co.

Love these salads!! Completely custom salads. They keep everything pretty separated and clean the cutting boards thoroughly to ensure no cross contamination.

Soo yummy!! NOTE THEY HAVE PEANUTS ON THE MENU! Lots of nut free options though!!

Sun and Fork

SO DELICIOUS. Amazing & healthy brunch spot in Nashville and right by Vanderbilt campus & bookstore. Highly reccommend. Very accomodating with my allergies (I got chocolate chips instead of granola w almonds on my yogurt bowl!)

Pancake Pantry

LOVE THIS PLACE!! A go-to in Nashville. Beware they have nuts on the menu but they use a separate grill, new spatula and new spoon for my order!!

Allergy-Friendly College Campus Guide: Emory University

My food allergy experience at Emory University was literally a dream come true! That being said, it did require a lot of work and advanced planning! I only ate at the main dining all (where all the employees knew me!) and never at any of the other dining halls. This main dining hall was completely free of peanuts, tree nuts, and shellfish. Allergy-Friendly Campus Guide: Elon University

Elon University had been my dream school for a few years, but when I was finally accepted into one of their BFA Programs, we realized that getting to attend this might actually become a real possibility. All that was left was to work out accommodations for my food allergies. It turns out that there were hardly any preparations necessary because this school has SO many established food allergy resources. First of all, the school has a dining hall section that is COMPLETELY allergy friendly. Yes, that’s right. It is free of the top 8 allergens with no cross contamination. They also have my favorite allergy friendly brands as “grab and go” snack items in the different dining halls. They also have extensive amounts of allergy friendly food items in each of the stores on campus. All of these things have made my first year and a half at Elon go as smoothly as possible and have kept my family, who lives 12 hours away, at ease. I am forever grateful for all of their efforts, and hope that others will be encouraged by this information because attending a university far from home with multiple life threatening food allergies IS possible!
