EAT

Lulu’s Destin

“I cannot say enough about Lulu’s in Destin! This is the first time that our son could eat at a restaurant with us and everything went so well! Our son has Tree Nut, Dairy, Egg, & Beef allergies and we still had options! I loved that a manager takes your order from an allergy- friendly menu and is very knowledgeable about it all. She was the only person handling our son’s food and they prepared it in a dedicated kitchen. The whole facility is nut-free too! highly recommend-definitely making this a regular stop on our beach trips!”

Crackings

“This is the best place ever. I asked my waiter to help me understand how they prepared the food in the kitchen. He simply got the cook. The cook ask me about my allergy and what he possibly can do for me. They substituted the cooking oil, which was soy with olive oil and baked my sausage patties on a separate pan and a whole different area of the kitchen including my pancakes. This was by far the best experience I ever had.”

Shunk Gulley Oyster Bar

“More seasoned shrimp and grilled veggies for us! There was one salad on the menu with nuts—the staff was very knowledgeable about cross contact and prep spaces. Our order had food allergy notations on it and they confirmed everything when we picked our order up. Would definitely order here again! Safe place and excellent live music and views of the Gulf of Mexico.”

FATBOYS

“My daughter loved the hamburger and sweet potato fries! She couldn’t have the bun or cheese, but still said it was amazing and she wanted to go back a second time before leaving town. Staff was nice and knowledgeable, made burger on separate grill from seafood.”

Harbor Docks

“We ate here tonight with our 4-year-old who is allergic to peanuts, milk, and egg. There is peanut on the menu but we were assured they would take precaution to make sure nothing would be cross-contaminated. I called ahead and spoke with manager, who made sure to come to our table and speak with us about the allergies. Our waiter was amazing. He came back several times (at least 3) just to go over ingredients and double check to make sure our son could have food cooked a certain way. Our son got a steak, baked potato, and green beans. We brought our own safe butter and they had no issues with that. I was so impressed with how they handled all of this and when we vacation—we will most definitely come back here again!”

Jet’s Pizza

“NY Style Pizza as well as gluten-free Pizza. My mom and I both have allergies, and different ones at that. The staff here were SO helpful and accommodating! I will definitely be visiting here next time I’m in Destin. A complete 10,000 stars for Jet’s. Jeff was super helpful and accommodating! They also have a wonderfully interactive and inclusive website! Please check them out!”

LongHorn Steakhouse

“I called ahead and was told they had an allergen menu and I could ask to speak with a manager before ordering. The only unsafe foods for us is the strawberry chicken salad and desserts. However, we are avoiding the bread and seasonings until we hear back about sesame. A manager never came to our table. We went with everything plain (sweet potato, broccoli, orange slices, macaroni and cheese (Kraft) and a plain kids steak). I also ordered a plain side of broccoli, which was good because the one for my children came out with their vegetable seasoning. I said something to the waiter and he took a picture of the label. There were none of our allergens in it, but I felt safer to avoid it. I would insist on speaking with a manager next time. There is also an 800 on the allergen menu that one can call.”

McGuire’s Irish Pub of Destin

“I had a good time at McGuires! The mac and cheese kids meal that I got was safe from peanuts and tree nuts, and I also got the pretzel appetizer. However, I couldn’t eat any fried items since they fry them all in peanut oil, so I substituted the side of fries with a baked potato. The waiter also mentioned that the complementary bread was not safe, although he said that it contained what appears to be a type of chia seed and not a nut. Either way, I still avoided it just in case! They also have a gluten-free menu. Although I probably wouldn’t go again, this is a safe option that I can count on if I need to!”

The Back Porch

“They had great frozen cocktails! They didn’t use peanut oil or any peanut products in the menu. They did not have a dedicated vegan menu but were able to prepare a meal from piecing together a few things.”

The Melting Pot

“We had the vegan and gluten-free 4-course meal. Our waiter was so kind, patient, and made sure our meal was safe. He double-checked everything with the manager.”
