ARIZONA

China Pasta House

Location: Tuscon, Arizona

“Delicious food and great price! The staff is very understanding and it’s family run, so it just feels like I’m eating food that has been made with care and love. The staff is helpful with ingredients and dishes and their menu lays out most ingredients in their dishes as well. Only thing to watch out for is that there is a slight language barrier with certain things (it helps that I speak some Mandarin), but others in the restaurant are very helpful and can assist you in translating. I love their pork dumplings (both in soup and not in soup) and the fried noodles! Fried rice is also safe but I love those other dishes so much that I rarely get the fried rice.”

Ling & Louie’s Asian Bar and Grill

Location: Scottsdale, Arizona

“Hidden gem! Usually we would avoid an Asian-themed restaurant for our type of allergies. The owner, John, and his waitstaff are knowledgeable and helpful. We are able to get the kids “Popcorn Chicken” with edamame and steamed broccoli.”

@noosh who manages peanut, tree nut, milk, fish, shellfish, and sesame allergies

Tea Light Café

Location: Phoenix, Arizona

“Veggie pho with tofu or chicken pho. Always have a positive experience with this place! I have not checked if there are nuts/other allergens present in the kitchen, but the pho broth and add-ins are nut-free.”

CALIFORNIA

Asian Box

Location: Pao Alto, California

“They follow all of my daughter’s allergies. Chef often comes out to verify without being asked. She is confident eating here.”

@mochimom who manages celiac and walnut, milk, soy, shellfish, vegetable, fruit buckwheat, and legume allergies

Berkeley Social Club

Location: Berkeley, California

“I went to brunch here with friends and was hesitant because 1) it’s a Korean restaurant, so sesame is everywhere and 2) I’d never been before. Looking at the menu, there appeared to be some options I could have. When talking to the waitress, she informed me that everything was cooked on the same grill and wouldn’t let me order something I could have (that was likely cross contaminated). She helped me make accommodations on a really nice smoked salmon salad, which was really good! Although it’s a bit tough to find options here for my allergens, the waitstaff is incredibly helpful and caring.”

@altheachan who manages peanut, tree nut, milk, egg, shellfish, and sesame allergies

Cơm 90°

Din Tai Fung

Location: Arcadia, California

“The allergen menu online is super helpful, and they just introduced a new line of vegan dishes (i.e. wontons, dumplings, and noodles made with JUST Egg instead of real eggs). I love this restaurant!”

@amandayoung03 who manages peanut, tree nut, milk, egg, fish, and shellfish allergies

Iron Teapot Dim Sum & Bar

Location: Los Angeles, California

“This is a great spot if you have allergies to animal products (eggs, dairy, fish, etc.) and have wanted to try dim sum! I really appreciated how they had a full vegan menu of options. The service was not great, to be honest, but our server by the end of the night made it up to us with free cucumber salad and broccoli. This is one of the few dim sum places I’ve come across with extensive vegan options, so I’d say this is worth checking out!”

@jennatso8 who manages milk, egg, beef, and pork allergies

Mamahuhu

Location: San Francisco, California

“I highly recommend this fast casual Chinese restaurant in the Inner Richmond district of SF. I was so pleasantly surprised when the waiter pulled out a laminated allergen menu and was able to tell me exactly which items had dairy and eggs in them. I ordered the Kung Pao plate with veggies and rice and loved it. My dish did contain nuts, so be sure to alert the waiter when you order about your allergies so that you can ensure it is safe if you have a nut allergy.”

@jennatso8 who manages milk, egg, beef, and pork allergies

ILLINOIS

Dak Dak Korean Wings

Location: Villa Park, Illinois

“Dak Dak Korean wings were a delicious find in Villa Park, IL. The owner Joey took an incredible amount of time talking with me about the process for making his exceptional wings for my son with nut, egg and dairy allergies. They bread the wings in an all purpose flour and (double) fry them in canola oil, making them safe for my son. And, FYI, most of the separate dipping sauces have dairy in them so we just avoided those, no problem. The menu is simple, only making wings and fries, so give this place a try next time you’re in the area—it’s well worth it!”

Tasty Cuisine Chinese Restaurant

Location: Des Plaines, Illinois

“They have authentic Chinese food and are incredibly helpful when it comes to ordering. They always warn me if they put out a dish that my party ordered that I can’t eat! I have never had any problems and have so many great memories from this restaurant. It’s a must have and a go to for every occasion! However, it is up to your party to ensure that you don’t cross contaminate serving spoons since you yourself from a lazy susan. I also couldn’t tell you what about the menu because I typically get about the same foods or talk to the server and order directly from him so I don’t usually even look at the menu.”

@toriwong who manages peanut, tree nut, and milk allergies

Wild Ginger

“They use a dedicated prep area and have a very clear protocol regarding allergens. I often eat here with my friends because it’s pretty casual and one of the cheaper options to eat out in Hinsdale. We ordered scallion pancakes, chicken wings, chicken lo mein, pork and cabbage dumplings, bok choy, and bbq pork buns. The only thing that we didn’t like were the bbq pork buns. Ordering on the app was seamless. They had spots for your allergies and let you know if something was not possible!”

Not only is it quality food, but they’re very clear about their menu and have protocol in place. NEW YORK

LuAnne’s Wild Ginger

Location: New York, New York

“Amazing vegan Chinese food! The amount of times I’ve eaten here/ gotten takeout is beyond words. The prices are fair which is big for NYC, especially a vegan spot in NYC, and the food is amazing. Go for the soba noodle stir fry, miso soup, spring roll, pineapple fried rice, and so many more.”

@dairyfreeeats who manages a milk allergy

Sunhee’s Farm and Kitchen

Location: Troy, New York

“Asian foods are a major pitfall for us, given an allergy to sesame. However, the owner and staff at this farm-to-table restaurant have been wonderful, and my son has been able to eat their kimbap roll, which is as close to sushi as we can get out (short of me making it at home!). We ask for vegan (no egg) and the remainder of the filling is mostly vegetables and tofu. Also, specifically ask for no sesame seeds and no sesame oil brushed on the roll. Sometimes you just have to play detective, have great staff, and know what’s hidden despite a good description of the food on the menu. As for other top 8, there are other dishes that can be made gluten free/vegan. Note that the broth is a fish based broth for soups, so that’s something that can’t be altered as far as I know. All in all, one of the few Asian restaurants we can eat at as a family!”

@abracadaver6 who manages celiac and peanut, tree nut, milk, egg, shellfish, seed, and grain allergies

The Original Buddha Bodai Kosher Vegetarian Restaurant

Location: New York, New York

“This is a restaurant in Chinatown that serves vegan dim sum and Chinese food! The menu items with peanuts are clearly labeled. We are so happy they expanded from the Midwest to NC!”

Make sure you ask the server about their sides (this comes automatically with your meal).”
