Peanut, Tree Nut, and Sesame-Free United Kingdom Top Picks

Hi! I’m Liam, and I recently studied abroad in London, England! I was able to find many spots to safely eat with peanut, tree nut, and sesame allergies. One of my favorite places to eat was The Old Bank of England, where I safely had a traditional Sunday roast! If you visit, some must-do activities are enjoying London’s beautiful parks, seeing a West End show, and exploring neighborhoods like Notting Hill! “Amazing dinner at Alba Bistro in Grassmarket! Delicious Scottish food and helpful staff who let me know what was safe to eat with tree nut and sesame allergies. I tried the Angus steak pie—so warm and delicious. I would absolutely recommend it. We had the best time!”

Harley's Butchery & Rotisserie

Harley’s Butchery & Rotisserie

Location: London, England
“Don’t miss this gem in Hampstead! While Hampstead is located in North London, it’s worth visiting the adorable area and neighborhoods and trying Harley’s. They’re known for their delicious rotisserie chicken, but I tried their chicken Caesar sandwich. It’s dressed with their rotisserie chicken, lettuce, cheese, croutons, and an amazing Caesar dressing. The staff were so friendly and, right after I ordered, they immediately checked with the chefs about allergens. They informed me that their kitchen is tree nut- and sesame-free! I felt very safe eating here, and it was so worth it! Would absolutely come back. Don’t miss it while in London!”

Le Café NAC

Le Café NAC

Location: London, England
“Amazing dinner at Le Café NAC in Knightsbridge! We dined in for dinner, but they also serve brunch, lunch, dessert, and drinks. Their menu was good, and I ordered the vodka pasta, which was truly delicious. Nice flavor and an amazing sauce. The staff were friendly, and when I told them about my allergies, they immediately went to check with the kitchen. The pasta was tree nut- and sesame-free, and they told the kitchen to be cautious while preparing the dish. There are other nuts in some appetizers, like hazelnuts, cashews, and pistachios, along with sesame on their burger bun. I would be cautious since those allergens are present, but they took clear notes and let the kitchen know. I felt pretty safe eating here, and the food was delicious!”

Old Bank of England

Old Bank of England

Location: London, England

“Amazing pub in Central London! So much history here—it used to be part of the Bank of England until the 1970s. The space is beautiful, with a massive indoor bar and an outdoor one in a massive red double-decker bus. It’s the coolest thing, and their food is incredible! I dined in for their Sunday roast and tried the chicken roast, while others tried the topside beef. Everyone loved it! The staff were great, and right when we sat down, they asked about and took notes on allergies. They brought me an allergen guide, and the chicken roast is tree nut- and sesame-free. Though they are present in other dishes on the menu, they let the kitchen know, and my food came out with an allergen stick in it, so I felt very safe eating here! I would absolutely go back since they were so accommodating, and it was a great experience. 10/10 would recommend in London!”

The Black Pig

The Black Pig

Location: London, England
“I tried “The Best One” sandwich at the Black Pig in Borough Market. Worth the hype—it was very good! Big enough to share and so delicious! I asked about allergies when ordering, and they’re completely nut-free. It’s popular and busy at peak times, but they’re super quick and efficient. Would totally recommend it for a safe eat in Borough Market!”

The Breakfast Club Hoxton

The Breakfast Club Hoxton

Location: London, England

“Great brunch at The Breakfast Club in Shoreditch! I tried the full English breakfast, but they have breakfast plates with all the American favorites too. The friendliest staff—right when we sat down, the first thing they asked was whether any of us had food allergies. Absolutely no nuts on the menu, and they let me know what was safe to eat with a sesame allergy. Delicious pancakes and plenty of breakfast platters to choose from. Would absolutely go back! Don’t miss this great spot in London!”

The Duke of Wellington, Portobello

The Duke of Wellington Pub

Location: London, England

“Portobello Road pub! Dined in for dinner when the markets were winding down—perfect vibe for a pub! The place is really cool and has a great menu—salads, fish and chips, pies, etc. I tried the fish and chips, and they were very good! One of my faves that I’ve had in London, to be honest. The staff was wonderful about allergies, and they asked right before we ordered if anyone had any. They took note and informed the kitchen about my tree nut and sesame allergies, so I felt very safe. Loved the experience here! We grabbed dinner, then walked over to the Electric Cinema down the street. Perfect evening in Notting Hill. Would recommend!

The Old Farmhouse

The Old Farmhouse

Location: London, England
“Hidden gem in London! I’ve been here a few times, and they’re very accommodating with tree nut and sesame allergies. The staff told me about allergens on the menu and made notes to the kitchen when I ordered. They have a few nuts, but ensured cleanliness when preparing my dish. Would recommend trying it if you’re in the Kentish Town/Camden area!”

The Red Lion, Parliament Street

The Red Lion, Parliament Street

Location: London, England
“Second time dining at The Red Lion in London. It was the first dinner on the first night of study abroad and the last dinner on the last night. The food is delicious, and the service is top-notch. We had the same waitress both times, funny enough, and it felt so full circle. Both times eating here, they have been great about allergies. The staff took note of my tree nut and sesame allergies and assured me that the kitchen was aware when preparing my dish. This time, I tried the steak pie, and it was delicious! The coziest, most home-cooked feeling. I love The Red Lion, and I’d absolutely recommend it because of the amazing staff, the great menu, and the fact that it’s steps away from Big Ben! 10/10.”
