Peanut and Tree Nut-Free Greece Top Picks

Hi! I’m Eleni, and I recently traveled to Greece to visit my family. I found many safe places to eat while managing peanut and tree nut allergies. One of my favorite places to eat was Ο Αμοργινός in Naxos, where I shared baked feta with honey and sesame seeds, prasino salad, and pasta with chicken and local arseniko cheese. If you travel there, you have to take advantage of the whole island; it’s the biggest in the Cyclades! Check out the beaches and shops on the west side, try out marble carving with Mythic Diastasi, and go eastward to village hop! Ο Αμοργινός

Ο Αμοργινός

Location: Απειρανθος, Greece
“The BEST food I’ve had in Naxos so far. We got fries, baked feta with honey and sesame seeds, prasino salad, penne pasta, rosto, and loukaniko with saganaki, and they were all SO good. When I had a question about my allergies, the waiter went to double-check. The walk there is up a bunch of crazy and kind of misleading steps, but it’s worth it. If you think you’re going the wrong way, you probably aren’t; it’s just a confusing route!”

“Best Freddo espresso I’ve had, I think. For this drink, I didn’t have to worry about my nut allergy because they don’t put nut syrups in them, but I had to share because it was so good. I get mine μέτριο με γάλα.”

“Really yummy food and no issues with allergies! My favorites were the kolokithokeftedes, biftekia, Naxos-made cheese with honey, and Ntakos salad. Though I didn’t eat the portokalopita we got, I would skip it as someone with a nut allergy, which I do every time I’m in Greece, because even if they don’t think it has nuts, it’s likely to be cross-contaminated/”
