Tree Nut and Poppy-Free Greece Top Picks

Hi! I’m Grace and I recently traveled to Athens, Antiparos, and Paros in Greece. I found many safe places to eat while managing tree nut and poppy seed allergies. One of my favorite places to eat was Mylos in Paros where I got a delicious gyro. If you travel there a must-do activity is visiting Kolybithres beach for the incredible rock formations and clear water. Mare Nostrum

Mare Nostrum

Location: Naousa, Greece

“Really nice location; we ate right on the water. The food was good, and the fish was incredibly fresh. The waiter told me there is one dessert with walnuts and the stuffed squid has pesto (which they can remove), but those were what to avoid. And to be safe, the bread too!”

“I loved this place, and it was overlooking the beach! Safely had Greek salad (one of my favorites on the trip), fries, and sardines”

Location: Νάουσα, Greece

“I loved these Loukoumades! The cashier did not speak much English, but the man behind her, who I presume was the owner, knew exactly what I was asking about allergies and had a whole booklet of the ingredients! I just got honey and cinnamon because I thought the sauce was Nutella, but I actually think it may have been chocolate (per my boyfriend who got that lol)”

“This hotel was in a great location, and the staff was lovely. The breakfast buffet in the morning is very pastry heavy, but the staff was great when I talked to them about what would be safe for me to eat and not. They made me an omelet to order which was perfect!”

Siparos Seaside Restaurant

Siparos Seaside Restaurant

Location: Naousa, Greece

“This was one of our favorite restaurants in Paros; we ended up going twice, and everything is so good! Our first waiter was much better with allergies in my opinion (brought out sorbet for dessert to avoid any traces of nuts in the other one potentially), but I actually don’t think there are a ton on the menu to begin with. The Parian chickpeas were my favorite!!”

Saint Andrea Seaside Resort

“HIGHLY recommend this hotel! The staff was amazing, and the property is beautiful. I felt so taken care of with my allergies. From the first time I ordered food and mentioned my allergy, the manager came over and talked to me and then walked me through the breakfast buffet the next morning. The waiters even started to bring us potato chips instead of nuts for a pool snack!”

Mylos

“Ohhhh I miss Mylos already. This was the best gyro we had on our trip; we went several times!! I didn’t see any nuts on the menu!”

LUKUMAΔΕΣ

LUKUMAΔΕΣ

Location: Athina, Greece

“I wanted to try Lukumades so badly, and the website of this place made me feel like they knew how to handle allergies. I will say there are A LOT of nuts in the shop (basically all the toppings are nuts), but the dough itself does not have nuts, and I got honey and cinnamon on top, which was so yummy! I personally felt fine eating it since all the nuts come after the dough is cooked!”

“The yogurt kebab here was truly incredible! I safely had that, souvlaki, and a Greek salad. I didn’t see anything on the menu that listed nuts”
