Peanut-Free Greece Top Picks

Hi! I’m Sara and I recently traveled to Athens, Santorini, Kefalonia, and Paros in Greece with my brother. I found many safe places to eat while managing a peanut allergy. One of my favorite places to eat was Moschonas Restaurant in Paros where we got seafood pastas and a Greek salad. If you travel to Zakynthos a must do activity is a boat tour because the water is unlike anything I have ever seen! Gaia Suites

Location: Oia, Greece

“This hotel was the most beautiful hotel I have ever stayed at. It is within the blue domes of Santorini. There is a little bit of a walk to get to your room depending on which room you’re in, but the view is totally worth it. They deliver breakfast every morning in prepackaged containers and they accommodate for any food allergies I wasn’t sure if the granola had peanuts so I avoided getting it just in case, but the breakfast was delicious. They had croissants, orange juice and yogurts with fruit. They were super accommodating and I definitely recommend staying here if you have the chance to.”

Loukoumades Ktistakis

Location: Athina, Greece

“These are the yummiest donuts ever! It’s a classic Greek dessert, and they taste amazing. We got the honey and cinnamon flavor because I didn’t want to risk it with any nut butters, but they were great and extremely fresh!”

Sunset Ammoudi by Paraskevas

Sunset Ammoudi by Paraskevas

Location: Oía, Greece

“This is a famous restaurant in Santorini for its view of the sunset! It’s a hike down, but it is well worth it. It’s definitely one of the more expensive restaurants in Santorini, mainly because it’s viral and well known. We got tomato fritters which were amazing and then feta cheese deep fried in pastry wrapping with honey, fried calamari, and a seafood pasta dish. Everything here was amazing. The only issue was that they said they weren’t sure about dessert for peanuts, so I stayed away from having it just in case, but everything was delicious!

iScream

Location: Argostoli, Greece

“This ice cream was genuinely one of the best gelatos I’ve had in my life. It was so fresh and light with a lot of flavor. The staff were very accommodating and washed the spoon multiple times over even though there are no peanut flavors in the store. He said there is always a chance of cross contamination but they don’t have peanut flavors. There were hazelnut and pistachio flavors, but the staff were so accommodating, so I believe if you have other nut allergies they would take from a fresh bin. I highly recommend this place!”

Dos On Board

Location: Parikia, Greece

“I don’t have a picture of the gyro I got, but it was one of the best gyros I had in all of Greece. This was such a hidden gem find! I got the chicken skewer gyro, and it’s also right by the port if you’re getting off or on a ferry.”

La Gondola

La Gondola

Location: Argostoli, Greece

“This restaurant was great and reassuring with food allergies, so on that end it was good. However, in terms of the food, I wasn’t a big fan. I think it was a bit of a tourist trap and overpriced food for the quality and taste, so I wouldn’t recommend going (but not because of food allergies).”

A for Athens

Location: Athina, Greece

“A for Athens has breakfast included in your stay. First off, the hotel was great and very clean! It was in an amazing location too if you’re going to Athens. Second, the breakfast was seriously one of my favorite breakfasts I had in Greece. The buffet was outstanding with so many options, and everything was freshly made from the eggs to the fruits and veggies. The lady at the breakfast went over every single food with me on what I should and what I shouldn’t have; it was so thoughtful! Highly recommend this place.”

Kefalonia Grand Hotel

Location: Argostoli, Greece

“I don’t have pictures of the food at this hotel, but the breakfast was included here and was amazing! It was a huge breakfast buffet spread, and the staff took time to check if anything had peanuts. They told me that nothing had peanuts and I was safe to eat anything which was amazing. I loved the Greek yogurt, the toast, eggs, and many different pastries with cheese and spinach and the bruschetta. Also, the cappuccinos here were amazing!”
