Art Lounge Rooftop
“Restaurant/bar located on the top floor of New Hotel! I ate here while staying at the hotel, and the staff were very careful with my allergy. I used allergy cards as well. The views of the Acropolis are amazing, especially at night!”

Attic Urban Rooftop
“If you want to go to dinner or drinks at a place that is on the fancier side, this place is for you! You get the best view of downtown Athens and the Parthenon! Great place for photos, too. They do have nuts on the menu, so be sure to double check with your server before ordering! The staff speaks great English. This place is definitely catered more towards tourists, but the food and drinks are to die for.”

Baba Ghanoush Vegetarian Restaurant
“Absolutely amazing falafel here. If you are either vegan or vegetarian, they will have something for you. I came here with my vegan friend, and she was able to eat mostly everything on the menu! There are no nuts from what I saw on the menu, but I would double check with the server to make sure. They are very nice, and they love to make conversation with you! I would definitely recommend for the food, vibes, and price! (I’ve been here 4 times in one week, that’s how good it is).”

Delta Restaurant
“This is a 2 Michelin star restaurant, so it is incredibly upscale and expensive. Food includes lots of fish and fermentation, which might not be for everyone. They called in advance to confirm my food allergies and how severe they are. Both the host and our main server noted my allergies before food came. The menu is preset, so I wasn’t able to ask questions/substitute, but I felt completely safe the entire experience. Anytime my course was different than my husband’s, they explained what the difference was and why (usually dairy in something). I got a wine pairing that they specially curated just for me based on the substitutions they made (my husband had different wines to pair with his food). Probably one of the best and most incredible restaurant experiences in my life.”

“One of the most beautiful rooftops I’ve been to in Greece. Gorgeous views and even better service. The severs were very careful about listening to my food allergies.”

Electra Metropolis Athens
“I booked a table online at the Metropolis Roof Garden Athens and followed up with an email with a copy of our Greek Equal Eats card listing my daughter’s peanut, tree nut, and sesame allergies. I received a response the following day stating, ‘We kindly inform you that our executive chef has already acknowledged the card you attached below.’ At the restaurant, all the staff was so attentive and took great care to cater my daughter’s meal, which was a delicious Greek lamb dish she enjoyed immensely. The service, the views of the Acropolis, and the food created one of the best dining experiences we have ever had abroad!”

Electra Palace
“This restaurant we messaged before to inform them and ask if they could accommodate nut and peanut allergies. They emailed us back, and they were prompt to email back a yes! We were pumped. They knew of the allergy on arrival and immediately made bread choices to ensure no cross-contamination. They said their kitchen could ensure no cross-contamination, and we had a delicious meal. We felt safe and supported to order from their menu and make safe choices. With views of the Acropolis, we had a spectacular meal!”

GB Roof Garden
“This restaurant was spectacular! It was recommended to us by someone who said it was expensive and worth it, and we felt the same. We ate here on the last night of our trip, and it was so special. The view is absolutely STUNNING, and we had what felt like the best table in the whole restaurant outside—we watched the sunset and the Acropolis light up at night. They were fantastic with food allergies and baked bread for my daughter to be on the safe side. The regular bread had seeds (in general, when you mention nut allergies we felt a lot of restaurants lump seeds in, too, just fyi), and they brought two spreads that both had green powder on top, which immediately I thought could be pistachios. The pinkish one that was cream cheese DID have pistachios in it, and thankfully we asked, and they removed it immediately. We shared 2 appetizers, including eggplant and a burrata salad, and my daughter had lamb with potatoes for her dinner.”

Gods’ Restaurant / Οινομαγειρείο των Θεών
“They were able to accommodate no nuts of any sort in their menu when asked. Helped that they spoke great English and were totally welcoming and wanting to make sure we were safe from any allergy.”

GOSTIJO
“This is a kosher restaurant that serves meat, so there is no dairy at all. They serve Greek classics, traditional Sephardic dishes, and other Mediterranean dishes. It was amazing to be able to try some classic Greek food without having to worry about any dairy. The food was delicious, and everyone was very friendly!”

Grande Dame Athenian Tavern
“Staff was very helpful. The waiter kept double-checking everything I asked, which was great. Uses sunflower oil, so I was only able to eat from the grilled meats. The waiter made adjustments to a couple of items we ordered so that I could have them.”

GREEK STORIES
“Greek Stories is a must visit if you are in Athens. After exploring the Acropolis we headed to lunch, located right in the heart of the city. Greek Stories is 100% gluten-free, besides beer. Their croquettes were my favorite! Their gluten-free pita comes from a gluten-free bakery in Athens.”

Grill & Pita
“My peanut, tree nut, and sesame allergy daughter had the chicken souvlaki sticks from here and enjoyed them. She showed the staff her Equal Eats Greek card, which helped them greatly to explain the safe items to eat. I got this restaurant information from a study abroad student’s post in Spokin.”
@gkumar, who manages peanut, tree nut, and sesame allergies

Hard Rock Cafe
“Right when we went up to hostess to get a seat, she asked if there were any allergies. After letting her know about my peanut allergy, she told me to also make my server aware. When the server came, I mentioned it, and he showed me a QR code to a link with the allergen menu. I chose to get a burger. Upon ordering, he made extra effort to check back with the kitchen to make sure I could eat the burger. Turns out the bun was actually ‘may contain peanuts’, even though the allergen guide said it was safe. He suggested having the burger without the bun, and it turned out great!”

Harry’s Kitchen
“The BEST chicken pie I’ve ever had. It’s called a kotopita, and basically instead of a spinach pie it’s chicken. It’s all hand made every morning, and when I went they were out of what I wanted. They said come back in 30 minutes, and I had fresh chicken pie! Would definitely recommend. Very close to the main shopping strip as well. I’ve been here 6 times now just for the chicken pie.”

IT restaurant Kolonaki
“I stopped by here as I was walking around the area. Amazing food, I got the avocado toast with a fried egg on top. I also got it paired with a Bloody Mary. I would say it is a little on the pricier side for Greece, €10 for a Bloody Mary and about €11.50 for the avocado toast, but no major allergens! Wait staff is very knowledgeable on the menu. They also have a huge vegan section for brunch.”
@nikosarles, who manages tree nut allergies

Joshua Tree Cafe
“This place looks like something that should be in Southern California. Amazing decor, and the brunch menu is amazing. Very ‘American.’ They have tons of options for people who are vegan, including vegan pancakes and chicken. I would check this place out if you want a cute brunch spot.”

Koi Sushi Bar Pagrati
“This place has many locations around Athens, including one in Syntagma square where you get the sushi conveyor belt. However, the Pangrati location is my go-to. The best fish I have been able to find in Athens during my two months here so far. It is also so cheap! About €6 for a specialty roll!”

MINIBAR
“We ate lunch here based on the recommendation of our tour guide, who was amazing! It’s a small eclectic casual spot. We had a very fun meal here, but it wouldn’t be on my list of ‘you have to go there’—if you are nearby then it’s a good option. Although, we used our Equal Eats card, and I was glad to have it! We safely had eggplant dip, which was so good, a Greek salad, zucchini balls, spinach rolls, and fries and bread. We all shared, and my daughter had a lemonade too. The server took our card back to the kitchen to be on the safe side. The only thing that wasn’t great was at the end of the meal, they asked if we wanted the complimentary cookie, which we didn’t. We did ask if it had any nuts, and it had walnuts in it.”

Regal Restaurant
“When I was ordering, showed my equal eats card to the waiter. Tried ordering pizza, but they didn’t make the dough in house, so they weren’t sure. The waiter suggested that I try a meat meal and decided on the chicken souvlaki. When he brought the meal out, he mentioned that they had found the sauce that it was supposed to come with as may contain, so they left it off. Good meal all around and great waiter.”

Rizzari
“One of my favorite places to just chill, drink a coffee, and work on my laptop. I’ve never had their food before, but if you want a chill cafe to relax at, this is the place for you. Decent prices as well! I come here probably 5 times a week for either a cocktail or coffee while I work.”

Suvla Athens
“Second best Gyro I’ve had in Greece! I replaced the sauce with tzatziki. When ordering, the waiter took my translation card to the kitchen to ask about my order (chicken gyro wrapped). They told me they would ensure it was safe with changes to the seasoning. They have an ‘open kitchen,’ so I watched them read every ingredient, wipe down everything, and then make my gyro. They were diligent and careful!”

The Karamanlidika Fanis
“The people who worked here actually spoke English really well, which is rare in Greece I have found. Greek food isn’t so dangerous for a celiac anyway, but I was able to communicate my needs. The staff understood and were super helpful, sitting me in front of the chef who cooked my meal so he could show me what was in my dish!”

“The BEST pizza in town. They have so many options for allergies, and dietary restrictions! The pizza is made fresh and is always consistent. They do have nuts on the menu, however, you can ask for them to be removed and for your food to be made on a dedicated prep area. If you’re in Athens, check this place out. The decor is also amazing, and the cocktails are like none other. 10/10.”

“Delicious brunch food! One of the only places in Athens that I’ve been able to find pancakes with fruit and maple syrup. Most places have a bunch of sugary syrups on top, etc. Menu is all in Greek, but server speaks English, and I was able to confirm there were no nuts on this dish.”

“I used my equal eats allergy cards. They said that they had no soy in their kitchen and confirmed they understood my dairy allergy. Epik Gelato
“The gelato was delicious! They DO use the same scoop for all of the flavors and wash it in a container in between each use. In the past, I would have stayed away, but since I am on Xolair now, I am less worried about cross contact. They did offer to deep wash the scoop before getting my ice cream as well. They have dairy-free options, too!”
