“This dedicated gluten-free bakery is amazing! Friendly, helpful staff in a cute boutique bakery. We went here for my gluten-free partner. He got conchas, wedding cookies, and the brownie. He thought it was all delicious and added that the gluten-free brownie was the best he ever had.

Some other items they carried: gluten-free flour, frozen focaccia, egg tarts, packaged cookies, some sugar free options, and more.

This was an extra uber ride for us. Agree that it was well worth it. We went on the day we visited Frida Kahlo’s house. It’s somewhat near Coyoacán.

Thank you Spokin community for this rec!”

“Definitely MANY nuts in the ice cream, but there was an allergy menu posted on the wall and the worker used a new scoop for me. It also seemed that all of their flavors with nuts were in a separate case, so I was not super worried about nuts mixing with the flavors next to them. Super cute spot in Polanco, very green area!”

Cafe Trucha

“I stopped by Café Trucha for dessert and drinks and everything was amazing. The guava cake and margaritas were so good. What made it even better was that our server mentioned he has a nut allergy too and eats the food there. That made me feel a lot more comfortable. Great spot, I’ll definitely be back.”

La Otilia - Polanco

La Otilia – Polanco

“La Otilia is a rare gluten-free (and refined sugar-free) bakery in Mexico City. There are plant-based options as well with separate protocols to handle those. They have a few locations, each with the same menu.

This is a real treat to have in Mexico as it is one of the few gluten-free bakeries that sells concha, or a Mexican sweet bread. Their brunch is also delicious, especially the huevos rancheros. The menu has allergen information listed where applicable.

Don’t miss this if you’re in Mexico City!”

Panadería Rosetta

“This legendary bakery and their guava pastry was recommended by everyone: friends, family, another Spokin user. My nut and sesame allergic kids and I loved it too. We came back a couple times. We did carry-out. There’s also a dine-in cafe that we didn’t get to try. Limited gluten-free options in the bakery.

Know that this place gets really crowded! The staff is knowledgeable and can answer allergy questions (in English as well), but really the carry-out line is designed to move. Google the menu, know your order ahead of time, and have your ingredient questions ready. Otherwise you’ll get to the head of the line and have a bunch of impatient people behind you as you grapple with a giant menu on the wall for the first time (I guess this is only partly an allergy tip, really an ordering with kids tip). The employees were well-informed and able to field all our nut and sesame questions. Pastries were delicious, and we had no issues.

The restaurant Lardo carries their baked goods too – both through their sit-down brunch and at a takeout window. When we were there, there were no lines for Lardo brunch and endless lines at Panaderia Rosetta.”

“Basically the entire shop is gluten-free! This was the first gluten-free panaderia I’ve ever found and they have conchas, obleas, cookies, etc. Everything was delicious and flaky. I go here every time I’m in Mexico.”
