Bite into Maine

“On a recent trip to Portland, Maine I tried out Bite Into Maine. They are known for their lobster rolls. Bite Into Mine offers gluten free options. The gluten free rolls are prepared in a dedicated area and the staff changes gloves. The staff was knowledgeable of celiac and were very kind and reassuring. This was my favorite meal in Portland, so delicious. Right next-door to this location is Orange Bike Brewing. This spot is 100% gluten free and they recommended bringing our gluten free lobster rolls over to enjoy with our beer.”

Eventide Oyster Co.

“I was dying for a lobster roll on a recent trip to Portland. Eventide gets great reviews but I was unsure about their ability to accommodate my son given their small kitchen. I was thankfully surprised on the upside when they happily agreed to accommodate my son. Our server had numerous suggestions of things he could eat. She was knowledgeable about ingredients in their dishes, and he ended up trying tuna tartare and salmon tartare, both of which he loved. And I got my lobster roll! It was a win win. 💗”

Orange Bike Brewing Company

“Orange Bike Brewing is a 💯 gluten free brewery in Portland, ME. The spot is super chill with a cute inside as well as a relaxing outdoor area with a fire pit. They offer a few gluten free snacks like chips etc. but they also allow you to bring over gluten free lobster rolls from their neighbors Bite into Maine. I had the chance to meet the owners as well, they were so nice. Highly recommend this spot!”

The Landing Store

“This is a family run business and they treat you like family. We stopped in to grab some sandwiches to bring to the beach and upon ordering once I told them my allergies they talked me through the process and how they would prepare my sandwich in a separate area and ensure it didn’t come into contact with nuts. They also brought out the bread bag with ingredients for me to confirm there was not pea protein in the bread which I appreciated. We also got some iced coffees which are serve your self so you can prepare it how you like. Very good experience and perfect for a quick grab! They also have lobster rolls and lobster grilled cheese that looked so amazing and were popular amongst other patrons.”

Side Street Cafe

“When I visited, there were not nuts on the menu! They are amazing with gluten allergies and have options for gf sandwiches, lobster rolls, appetizers, and even mac & cheese! They also had a gf dessert, but we were so full! Everything came with allergy sticks which was great! I LOVED the gf lobster mac & cheese! I also had a gf lobster roll (good but not my favorite) and loved their dips + chips. They also have a dedicated fryer for fries. Highly recommend for nut & gluten allergies in Maine!”

Luke’s Lobster Portland Pier

“The lobster rolls were amazing! The staff was helpful and accommodating to my nut allergy. The staff went to go speak with the chef about our allergy concerns. The outdoor patio is right on the water so you can watch the boats leave while eating. Do watch out for the seagulls we did have a seagull steal a lobster roll, which the staff kindly replaced for us. Overall great experience.

All allergies are different so double check the menu before going because menu items and ingredients can change. Always tell the server about your allergy before ordering.”
