Athens

Electra Palace Athens

Electra Palace Athens

Location: Athens, Greece

“We stayed in this hotel in Athens based on a couple recommendations for the location, right near the Plaka, and the view of the Acropolis, which you can see from many spots, including breakfast and the pool! We ate here safely one night for room service, as we had a delayed flight, and ordered by phone. I was very impressed with how they handled our allergies. The person taking the order answered, but then got another person on the phone, I think only because their English was a bit better so more for us than the answer being different—and I could hear lots of the staff jumping in to answer! Our daughter had pasta with tomato sauce and basil. The hotel also includes breakfast (with a stunning view), and of all of our breakfasts, this was one with the most obvious nuts out—it’s buffet style. Our daughter had fruit, toast, and cereal. Then we went back to ask about nuts, and she used her Equal
Eats card, which was so helpful! One of the chefs came out of the kitchen and walked the entire room with us and pointed out all she could have and what to stay away from. There were a lot of pastries there, and my daughter felt comfortable trying a couple, like a cherry croissant. This was one of those moments when I would have preferred to pass, but she was feeling like she really wanted to try something. With the impressive care of the chef, she decided to try a little. The chef did note that sometimes their donuts are made with peanut oil, which we were so grateful she told us because it otherwise looked like a simple cinnamon donut. Not my favorite as far as we felt that we needed to dodge the allergies like an open bowl of pistachios, but so the staff went above and beyond!”

Castellano Hotel & Suites

Location: Athens, Greece

“If you are looking for a romantic stay, Castellano Hotel and Suites is for you. It was such a special stay. We had a room with a private terrace that overlooked the Fortress Palamidi. The hotel offered a gluten-free breakfast that you can enjoy in the piazza out front or on your terrace.”

Central Hotel

Location: Athens, Greece

“We are traveling without our food allergic child but stayed at this hotel near the Acropolis. There was a free breakfast buffet, and I witnessed the staff helping a patron with a gluten allergy. They were able to walk her through the buffet, point out safe items, and provide her with other items directly from the kitchen that were safe for her allergies. Limited nuts on the buffet. Many safe hot items (eggs, sausage, bacon, etc.).”

City Circus Athens Hostel

City Circus Athens Hostel

Location: Athens, Greece

“My friend came to visit me here in Athens, and she stayed here for 6 nights. She said she would definitely recommend this place, and I agree. I was able to get a tour, and it was the cleanest, nicest, and most renovated hostel I have ever seen. Everyone was so respectful, and each room (with a max of 6 people) has their own private bathroom and showers. In addition, the hostel also has their own restaurant, common space/kitchen, and rooftop bar. If you’re looking for a cheap but nice hostel, I would recommend.”

Enalio Suites

Enalio Suites

Location: Athens, Greece

“This was one of our favorite hotels! A beautiful peaceful stay right on the water. We had a big balcony with a beautiful view of the water and just steps away from the beach. The moment we arrived we went right into the water! The hotel was in a great location with restaurants and bars along the way but felt very local and peaceful. The hotel offered a gluten-free breakfast of boiled eggs, bread, cookies, and fruit. Would go back!”

Hotel Kronio

Location: Athens, Greece

“The hotel staff were so wonderful!! Since we were traveling with a group, they prepared a dinner for us and made a list of all of the ingredients used in each course! They did the same for breakfast.”

NEW Hotel

Location: Athens, Greece

“This hotel was great! There are bar/restaurants on the first floor and top floor. When I got drinks at the first floor bar, they asked if anyone had a nut allergy and then brought out a bag of nuts in the original package unopened. I ate dinner at the rooftop restaurant, and they were great with my allergy (see my other review for Art Lounge!). All of the staff spoke English, and I also used allergy cards in Greek. The rooftop also has amazing views of the Acropolis. There is a small spa in the hotel, and the spa staff checked before I got a massage to make sure none of their oil/lotion products contained milk. We had a mini fridge in the room and a Nespresso machine that I felt comfortable using. There was not a microwave in the room. Overall great experience!”

Athenais

Location: Athens, Greece

“Cannot recommend this hotel enough!! Their breakfast was amazing, and the waitstaff was very helpful in letting me know what was safe. It is served buffet style, but our group was always the first down, so I did not worry about people mixing serving utensils.”

Athenais

Location: Athens, Greece

“A cute, clean, and centrally-located boutique hotel in Athens! We stayed here for two nights before flying back to Chicago—It’s in the Psyri neighborhood, which is apparently a hipster part of town. We were able to walk to the Acropolis and the Archeological Museum from this location, and it’s about 45 minutes from the Athens airport. The room was well stocked with complimentary water, pop, and wine—Plus a good sized fridge! We never ate the continental breakfast here, so I can’t speak to whether it’s safe or not. Our room had a little view of the Acropolis!”

Amirandes Grecotel Boutique Resort

Amirandes Grecotel Boutique Resort

Location: Crete, Greece

“We stayed at this luxury hotel for 5 nights, and it was fabulous! The food and beverage managers went above and beyond to be sure my 2 nut allergic kids had delicious, safe food. They actually met us at our breakfast table each morning, so my kids could place an order from the kitchen rather than take from the breakfast buffet and risk cross-contamination. They also did this for us the nights we chose to eat at their main buffet restaurant. They personally took care of us, and the food was fresh and delicious!”

Blue Dove

Location: Crete, Greece

“One of our favorite Airbnb’s was in Chania. The host was so kind and spent time with us planning our couple days in the city. The Airbnb was a bit of a walk from the main area, but we really enjoyed the relaxing experience of sitting in our private backyard with a hot tub. The space was beautiful and much needed after a busy few days. There is a kitchen, so we did prepare our own breakfast while staying there, close to a grocery store as well.”

Casa Delfino Hotel & Spa

Casa Delfino Hotel & Spa

Location: Crete, Greece

“We stayed 4 nights at this luxury boutique hotel. Breakfast is included, however, it’s very limited for those with nut allergies. The staff was very helpful and spoke English, and there were a few safe choices. But the buffet area was very small, and we had to be careful about what my nut allergic kids ate. Overall, however, the staff was extremely helpful and when booking dinner reservations, always told the restaurant about our allergies ahead of time.”

Elounda Mare Hotel, Relais & Chateaux

Location: Crete, Greece

“This hotel is located right on the water in Crete. It has a very old European feel, and the crowd is definitely older too haha. Food allergy safety-wise, it has been very nice so far. The staff speaks English, and when we have brought up her allergies they have seemed experienced and confident. There are several restaurants on the property, which we didn’t realize, including traditional Greek as well as sushi, Italian, and more. Breakfast for us was included, and it is set up as a buffet. We were pleasantly surprised to see cards set up, mainly by the baked goods with allergy icons. To me it appeared in some case they included allergens that would not necessarily be in the food but were more of a warning. For breakfast my daughter had smoked salmon, a cheese pastry, bread, cereal, pineapple juice, and an ice coffee—she tried a bunch of things. Normally we would stay away from baked goods, but we felt comfortable with the labeling. We spent one day on their beach; we ordered water, and they brought us a side of chips that were safe. We also ordered lunch by the water, and she had a tuna sandwich on brioche and a pina colada without alcohol.”

Psarona Hospitality

Psarona Hospitality

Location: Crete, Greece

“This is an Airbnb owned by the kindest, most amazing people. It used to be an old ceramics factory. We have never stayed in a more beautiful place. There is one restaurant in the area, and they are family owned and amazing with allergies (they only use 1-2 nuts and accommodated me with ease). There’s also a mini market owned by the same people. If you want a beautiful relaxing vacation off the beaten path in Greece, this is for you. I wish I could live here honestly LOL.”

Serenissima Boutique Hotel

Serenissima Boutique Hotel

Location: Crete, Greece

“I had a wonderful experience here! The rooms were lovely, and the staff were all incredibly thoughtful and kind. The intimacy of a boutique hotel clearly had its benefits! The one waiter was able to recognize me and remember my allergies each morning when we saw him for breakfast and would preemptively let me know if something he brought to the table had nuts in it or not. Perfect for someone who likes the security of a breakfast that is provided as well as service designed for a stay of a couple or more days.”

Kaminia

Cave Suites Milos

Location: Kaminia, Greece

“I cannot say enough good things about Cave Suites Milos! It’s a small, six-room boutique hotel with incredible hospitality and beautiful views of the port. Our room had a private pool and outdoor patio, with breakfast-in-bed served each morning. You wouldn’t believe how incredible the spread was! You can really see the love, care, and attention to detail given to each dish—Especially the expertly crafted fruit platters. The omelets and the bougatsa were our favorites! Calliope, the hotel owner, taught us a few words in Greek every morning when she dropped the food off to us! They serviced our room twice per day, so we were always getting refreshed towels and bottles of water. As an aside, I would definitely recommend renting a car if you stay here, or really anywhere in Milos. It’s really easy to navigate this island by car, and great for seeing all the different towns and beaches!”

Very attentive.”

Mykonos

Myconian Korali Relais & Châteaux

Myconian Korali Relais & Châteaux

Location: Mykonos, Greece

“This was hands down one of the best hotels that I’ve ever stayed at. Everything from the service, to the food, to the spa was absolutely perfect.

On arrival day, we ordered room service. The person we spoke with checked with the chef that my meal was safe and made the necessary adjustments, including omitting the cheese. I ordered the country style turkey sandwich, which came with an amazing chipotle mayo and fries.

For breakfast, we ate at the buffet. The manager walked me around the buffet and let me know what was safe for my allergies and what to avoid. There were relatively minimal nuts on the buffet with the exception of the breads and granola/nuts.

On departure day, we sat by the pool and enjoyed the same meal we had gotten from room service a few days earlier.

The spa was also incredible. My significant other and I did a thalassotherapy treatment first followed by a couples massage. The massage that I got used these super unique shells that I have yet to see in the states. They made sure all of the oils were safe.

Highly, highly recommend! We cannot wait to come back next summer.”

Petinos Hotel

Petinos Hotel

Location: Mykonos, Greece

“Nice hotel with a great pool and helpful staff. Not super central to much but was easy to get around, and the hotel is right on the water. We rented ATVs and explored the island, and we were only a few minutes from Mykonos town. The breakfast is buffet style, but the eggs and meats were fully separated from the grain area. Also ordered halloumi by the pool one day, which was a win.”

“The staff was extremely diligent to provide breakfast for us daily and make us a spectacular dinner! We loved every moment of our time at 18 Grapes! They were a boutique hotel with lots of amenities—we were on our honeymoon, and we loved our experience! They were extremely understanding of allergies and were sensitive to have something for us at every meal. They understood cross-contamination and were able to provide breakfast daily (that was completely nut free).”

Paros

Minois Hotel

Minois Hotel

Location: Paros, Greece

“Upon telling the staff and the kitchen manager (sous chef) that 2 of our 4 children had allergies to nuts (tree nuts, peanuts, sesame), they went out of their way to suggest safe items from the daily breakfast menu and triple checked all ingredients on everything they both ate. We had found many of the items on the breakfast buffet “may contain nuts,” which made the daily breakfasts at the hotels we stayed at in Greece a little difficult. Angelo, the kitchen manager, found bread they could both eat (and was absolutely delicious), and he even managed to source special ingredients to make them “safe” crepes for our last morning at the resort. The entire staff went above and beyond to make us all feel safe and comfortable. If you call ahead and let them know about allergies, they will try to have other safe items on hand for the stay. Highly recommend!”

Canaves Oia Epitome

Canaves Oia Epitome

Location: Santorini, Greece

“Wow. I almost don’t know where to start at how amazing this hotel is both for food allergies as well as the actual hotel, rooms, pool, etc. One of the best overall hotel experiences we have had. They are incredibly aware and educated on cross-contamination, and dare I say more conservative than we would even ask anyone to be—down to warning labels, preparation, and just honestly we dropped our jaws at how attentive they were. Before we arrived, I had emailed them to ask if they could accommodate our allergies knowing that breakfast was included, and they replied not only could they absolutely accommodate, but they also asked if they could remove nuts from our mini bar. I’m certain that is the first hotel that ever considered the mini bar! We ate breakfast every day at the poolside restaurant. They bring a bread basket that has a range of breads, including muffins, cookies and more. Some do contain nuts, and they made a separate one for our daughter. Note, I’m mainly gluten-free, and they also had a gluten-free basket that had gluten-free toast, a brownie, and cookies! Our daughter safely had drinks, including smoothies, juice, and ice coffee. She ate French toast, crepes, an egg dish with bacon and fries, and Greek yogurt—they have a cart that has lots of toppings, and while one topping had nuts, each topping had its own utensil. She had yogurt and honey. We also had one day that she ate lunch at the pool, and she had a Caesar salad.

One day we ordered room service for lunch and had a Greek salad, Greek spreads with pita bread, fries and falafel, and one night we ordered a truffle and arugula pizza from the late night menu! The food was exceptional, and the staff was so careful. 20 out of 10!!!!”

Charisma Suites

Charisma Suites

“Again, we are currently traveling without our child with food allergies. But our hotel has made it clear that they can modify any item on the menu or create a specialized menu for preferences/allergens. All staff speak perfect English and want to go out of their way to be helpful and hospitable. Every menu has a statement about food allergies and notifying staff. Because the hotel is small, we’ve also had access to the chef multiple times during meals. The receptionist will make calls on our behalf to restaurants nearby. A hospital/doctor is only a few steps away in town. A mini market with snacks, beverages, etc. is immediately outside the hotel entrance. We would not hesitate to visit the property with our daughter and would feel safe with her eating at the hotel and nearby restaurants.”

Divine Cave Experience

Divine Cave Experience

Location: Santorini, Greece

“We stayed at Divine Cave Experience for three nights while in Santorini at the recommendation of a blogger who raved about the property. The reason we chose to split our stay in Santorini was to experience Imerovigli (best sunsets in Santorini) and to also experience Oia. This was by far one of the prettiest, most romantic hotels that I’ve visited, and the service was exceptional as well. Breakfast comes complimentary each morning, and guests complete a form the day prior with what they would like to order, as well as their allergies. You can also order your breakfast to your room (to enjoy by your private jacuzzi), on your reserved private rooftop area, or a floating breakfast (in your private jacuzzi). All three days I ordered eggs with a side of bacon and a fruit plate with freshly squeezed orange juice. The breakfast was amazing, and the fruit and freshly squeezed orange juice were incredibly fresh and delicious. We also ate at the hotel’s restaurant for lunch one evening. The chef came out personally to talk to me about my allergies and prepared a delicious pasta dish with grilled chicken. We also reserved 2.5 hours in their spa cave and got a couples massage during that time. They made sure all of the ingredients in the oil were safe for my allergies. My only caveat about the hotel was its location. If you’re renting a car or quad, it’s totally fine, but if you’re planning to walk to Imerovigli village, it’s a little bit off the beaten path. This, however, wasn’t an issue for us, and we walked into Imerovigli every day for meals. We hope to come back one day to visit again!”

“Awesome hotel with gorgeous rooms overlooking the caldera. We stayed in a villa where my brother and I had our own space and beds. We had our own small kitchen to keep safe snacks, and many of the hotel employees spoke English which helped greatly! Breakfast was included each morning, and they went out of their way to help us choose safe foods. It was a once in a lifetime experience that my family and I will never forget!”

Oia’s Little Rock

Location: Santorini, Greece

“We had a wonderful stay at Oia’s Little Rock Airbnb. Would recommend the area for beautiful and stunning views. It was nice to be away from the crowds as well. This was a quiet area and a unique experience. The Airbnb was developed into a cave on the side of the mountain. The kitchen was separate. If you stay in the summer, I would recommend finding a different Airbnb though because the one next to us had a plunge pool which would have been perfect for the heat. We had a patio that we enjoyed our breakfast on each morning overlooking the water. Overall a great experience!”
