Beijing

Four Seasons Beijing
Location: Chaoyang Qu, Beijing
“Prior to arriving, we notified the hotel that I was gluten free. When we were brought to our room the first day they gave us gluten-free snacks for the week. Every time we ate meals at the hotel, the chef or manager would come out and helped me go through the menu telling me what they could prepare gluten-free that night. They also gave me gluten-free bread at breakfast. This hotel made it very easy to travel around Asia.”

Jingzun Peking Duck Restaurant
Location: Chaoyang Qu, Beijing
“This place is a small chain around China with people who speak and understand English well. It’s festive because they carve the Peking duck table side. I chose to eat vegetarian here to make things easier for them and because many things were marinated in soy sauce, but I’m sure I could have tried to order some meat if I really wanted to. Dairy and nuts were not big issues here. My main concern was hidden soy sauce, so I stayed away from all brown sauces. That being said everything here was delicious, not overly salty and I felt safe eating. Their eggplant was amazing!”

Lost Heaven
Location: Xuhui Qu, Shanghai
“The only Chinese food we ate while on my trip in China! Lost Heaven was great with allergies and accommodated me and my brother. We did have my fluent Chinese speaking Nai Nai (Nai Nai is Chinese for grandma) so I wouldn’t recommend going without someone who is fluent in Chinese, but we were able to have a safe and fun trip in China!”

Shanghai Disneyland Resort
Location: Pu Dong Xin Qu, Shanghai
“I visited Shanghai Disneyland. We visited the Tangled themed restaurant, the Pirates of the Caribbean restaurant, Remy’s patisserie and the exclusive Club 33! I didn’t have any issues finding dairy-free options, even with the language barrier.”

Wuxi

Holiday Inn Express Wuxi Taihu New City
Location: Wuxi City, Wuxi
“We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights during my son’s competition. The restaurant manager, chef and staff went above and beyond to make sure my son’s food was safe. English was okay, not great but we had allergy translation card that helped a lot! They cooked his food separately, and packed them during competition days. They also checked on my son everyday, and all the food served for Team dinner was clearly labeled with ingredients and allergens. We had a great stay! Great staff!”
