This is the only ice cream parlor that has made me feel 100% safe and I’m so thankful! Their ice cream is delicious and I love that they have a variety of flavors. My personal favorite is Cooks. Can’t wait for my trip to NY in July!”

2. Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams
Location: Chicago, Illinois + multiple locations
“I have heard so many good things about Jeni’s and have been wanting to try their ice cream forever! I was so excited that I finally got a chance to this past week! I told my staff about my allergies and asked them to use a clean bin along with a clean scoop. The staff was aware and made me feel safe! The ice cream was delicious and I would definitely go again!“
@lizzyanderlik, who manages peanut, tree nut, shrimp, sesame, and flax allergies

3. Tipping Cow Ice Cream
Location: Somerville, Massachusetts
“This is the only completely tree nut, peanut and sesame-free ice cream shop in New England, so when our son got transferred to Boston and started living in Somerville, we knew we had to make a stop. My 11-year-old who is allergic to tree nuts was beyond delighted to be able to order ANYTHING on the menu. She had never had a waffle cone or been able to get sprinkles from an ice cream shop! They were extremely aware and educated, and in addition to closely monitoring their supply chain, they even take great precautions to avoid gluten and dairy cross contamination.”
@knoeth10, who manages tree nut and milk allergies

4. FRÍO Gelato Evanston
Location: Evanston, Illinois
“This place is wonderful! This is the only ice cream shop we’ve been able to take my daughter to; none of the gelatos contain nuts and and only a few contain eggs. Each bin of ice cream has its own scoop. They also have many sorbet options for those who are allergic to dairy.”
@evenet1006, who manages peanut, tree nut, egg, wheat, and sesame allergies

5. Artisen Gelato
Location: Matthews, North Carolina
“Fantastic and delicious gelato spot for SOME allergic families. However, please be aware some ingredients they are using use shared lines. As always, check EVERY ingredient for updates and your allergy set. Don’t depend on their signage.”
@foodallergymomma, who manages peanut, tree nut, milk, fish, shellfish, and sesame allergies

6. Graeter’s Ice Cream
Location: Northbrook, Illinois
“Will open new container, use a clean scoop, and get new toppings from the back. They even let my kids get a new container taster (although we don’t ask that often)!”
@cleanlabelmom, who manages peanut, tree nut, sesame, and legume allergies

7. Chloe’s Soft Serve Fruit Co.
Location: New York, New York
“This was the first “ice cream” shop I ever ate at and am so appreciative of Chloe’s! Their soft serve flavors are dairy-free and many toppings are also free of the top 8 allergens. They have nuts in the shop but are very careful about cross contamination.”

8. Salt & Straw
Location: San Francisco, California
“A friend encouraged me to stop by, as I have a severe nut allergy, and she mentioned that Salt & Straw was very allergy-conscious. I went into the store feeling uneasy, but was immediately asked if anybody in my party had food allergies! After picking my jaw up from the ground, the server was happy to accommodate my allergy, including in samples. He was incredibly knowledgeable and careful. Despite the store being really rather busy, they had no problem grabbing me all of the flavors I wanted to try from unopened pints in the back. I got to try the salted and malted cookie dough, gooey brownie, and the honey lavender (my favorite). I left with a scoop of the cookie dough to go, a pint of the honey lavender, and a fresh waffle cone.”
@sheriberry13, who manages peanut and tree nut allergies

9. Frankie and Jo’s
Location: Seattle, Washington
“Dedicated peanut-free, gluten-free, vegan, and soy-free ice cream shop! This was such a find! They have fresh gluten-free waffle cones that smelled like heaven! Most of the ice cream is made with coconut milk, but they do have one or two flavors with cashew milk, and one with almonds and pecans. However, they were so accommodating of tree nut allergies. They have a separate nut-free scoop and washed hands and changed gloves and made sure I was safe! Their menu was also so thorough! They list out every ingredient, so I was personally able to double check which flavors were nut-free! The seasonal flavor was cookies and creme, and it was amazing!”
@emsnutfreeeats, who manages celiac and peanut and tree nut allergies

10. The Franklin Fountain
Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
“They have a “sanitized for allergies” protocol where the scoop is fresh and they pull a fresh bin. The answer on the phone and the answer from the worker at the window were identical (different people)! They thoroughly explained the protocol and took very careful attention. I felt extremely safe. I’ve been here at other times during peak and I would definitely try to go at an off time.”
@cas589, who manages peanut, tree nut, and seed allergies

11. Kilwin’s Naples
Location: Naples, Florida
“There are definitely nuts here and we thought there was no way they could accommodate our nut allergies BUT they were very experienced and educated on food allergies! They said they had tons of customers with food allergies and it was if they “knew the drill”—they offered before we asked to get a clean scoop and to scoop from an unopened bin. We’ve consistently visited and regardless of how long the line is, they’ve never once acted as if they were too busy or made us feel anything but like a “regular” customer.”
@susie, who manages peanut and tree nut allergies

12. Dear Bella Creamery
Location: Los Angeles, California
“This ice cream is homemade, and every flavor is completely vegan and gluten-free! I was a little hesitant, as they don’t advertise themselves as nut-free or nut allergy-friendly, but had a great convo with the worker when we went in to check it out. All the ice creams are homemade and do not contain tree nuts or peanuts, in addition to gluten, dairy, and eggs (only 1 or 2 contained soy). The only nuts in the facility are toasted almonds, which get added to sundaes and are in the kitchen and the front ice cream area (because of this they can’t guarantee safety from cross contamination).”
@emsnutfreeeats, who manages celiac and peanut and tree nut allergies

15. South Pier Parlor
Location: Sheboygan, Wisconsin
“I was stunned at how amazing they were. There was a massive line and they were so calm and patient.
