Nut, Gluten, Soy + Shellfish-Free Berlin Top Picks

Hi! I’m Marlene, I split my time between Berlin and Santa Barbara, CA and found many safe spots to eat while managing both celiac and peanut, tree nut, soy, shellfish, and tomato allergies and shared them on the Spokin app. I’m excited to share my favorite safe spots in Berlin and they are all featured in this guide. One of my favorites is Trattoria Senza, where I had Spaghetti alla Nerano! A fun thing to do if you are in Berlin is walking along the Spree river where you can see everything from historical to modern architecture and alternative neighborhoods. AERA

“Love this bakery! Everything is gluten-free and lots of nut-free options. Love their brownies and gluten-free oat cappuccino. They used to have more soy-free options as well. Now most breads contain soy, so be aware of that if you have a severe allergy.”

Enzo Sushi Bar

“My favorite sushi place in Berlin! The fish quality is amazing. They are super mindful and well-educated about celiac disease and allergies. Most items are naturally gluten-free, so they mark the few items that do contain gluten on the menu. Nice selection of sake as well!”

Trattoria Senza

“Fully gluten and lactose-free. This place is my new favorite in Berlin! The staff was so kind about my additional allergies and assured me that I was safe and welcome there. What a gem!”

Partenope 081

“Finally a pizza place that doesn’t feel like a gamble! They have a separate prep area and oven that is a separate room from the regular kitchen. I was so happy and the pizza was so delicious! The selection of gluten-free pizzas is a bit smaller than the regular ones, but they were still able to make a tomato-free version for me to accommodate my allergies.”

Tapiocaria Berlin

“Fully gluten-free, fun location! I felt very comfortable eating here. Have also seen their food truck at festivals.”

MOJEWA Veganes BIO Catering & MOJEWA Veganer BIO Food Truck

Location: Berlin, Germany

“Lots of gluten-free options! Staff was always very educated about ingredients and very helpful.”

MA’LOA Poké Bowl

Location: Berlin, Germany

“Separate bins and utensils for all ingredients! Mostly gluten-free. Nuts only available as one topping option. Awareness is usually good but depends on the staff! They are always willing to help and change gloves etc if you remind them to.”

VITALIA Reformhaus

VITALIA Reformhaus

Location: Berlin, Germany

“Biggest selection of gluten-free products! Pro tip: Most supermarkets in Berlin are closed on Sunday. This one is allowed to be open since it’s part of a train station!”

EDEKA

EDEKA

“I like shopping at Edeka they have a fair selection of gluten-free brands! Be sure to not just check the gluten-free section, there are many more gluten-free products mixed in on the regular shelves. The organic supermarkets like Biocompany and Denns have a good gluten-free selection too, but so many of them contain nuts, which is always frustrating for me.”

REWE

REWE

“I like shopping at Rewe, they have a good selection of gluten-free brands! The organic supermarkets like Biocompany and Denns have a good gluten-free selection too, but so many of them contain nuts, which is always frustrating for me.”
