The backbone of your company is inclusion. What’s Nana Creme free of?
We’re top 8 allergen-free. We’re also free of sesame and mustard! Our ice cream is banana-based.
What are the foods your family avoids?
Caroline is allergic to cashews and walnuts, but avoids all nuts. My other niece is celiac, and I avoid milk and eggs because I’m vegan. For our family to all enjoy the same food, it needs to be nut-free, egg-free, dairy-free, and gluten free.
Can you tell us about your amazing facilities?
We make all of our products, including our mix-ins like cookie dough and brownie pieces, in our own top 8 allergen-free facility.
We purchase ingredients from single-source suppliers whenever we can—so if we buy sugar, we get it from a company that only makes sugar to avoid any chance of cross contamination. We never purchase ingredients produced on shared lines with any of the top 8 allergens.
Your Insta feed looks delish! Can you tell us more about your products?
We started out with just four flavors of ice cream: vanilla, chocolate-covered banana, strawberry, and cookie dough. We now have ten ice cream flavors. We also have four cookie dough bite flavors, and ice cream sandwiches — and they’re all top 8 allergen-free!
What’s next for Nana Creme?
We’re bringing out “Klondike Bars” and “Drumstick Cones! Typically, chock-full of milk, nuts and gluten—we’re excited to bring these allergy-friendly products to the market!
Are you going to stick to the freezer aisle?
We’re going to stick to dessert, but we’re going to move past frozen. I want to make “Take-and-Bake” cookie dough. We have a great recipe!
Where can we get our hands on this stuff?
You can buy all of our products directly from our website: nanacreme.com. For a limited time, use code spokinxnanacreme for 10% off your online order until September 5th! In the Midwest, you can also find our products in Whole Foods and Jewel. And if you’re in the Northeast, we’ll be in Shoprite soon!
OK, we need to know… how much Nana Creme do you eat a day?
I eat at least one ice cream sandwich. Sometimes it’s even a half-a-pint kind of day.
What’s your favorite flavor? What about your niece’s?
Raspberry. It’s one of our new ones! Caroline’s is strawberry.
Favorite ice cream topping?
Sprinkles. They might be my favorite food.
Cup or cone?
Cup.
Do you ever feel like you’ve had enough ice cream?
I haven’t gotten there yet.
