Penny Lick Ice Cream

Hastings-on-Hudson, New York

Founded in 2013, Penny Lick Ice Cream Company is on a mission to bring back old-fashioned ice cream. They believe the best ice cream is simple and that’s why theirs is made with local dairy, sustainable whole food ingredients, no artificial flavors or colors, and no nuts, ever. Founder and CEO Ellen Sledge was inspired by friends and family to make Penny Lick nut-free. The shop takes its name from a style of ice cream vending from the 19th century. Before ice cream cones were invented, ice cream was sold in small glasses that only held enough for a lick or two, so the going rate was one penny. Luckily, Penny Lick offers cups, cones, milkshakes, and pints of your favorite flavors because you’ll want more than just a lick!
